Pleeeease tell me it’s a bunch of monkeys typing on the inside

Kidplayer_666 ,

Omg omg omg. I wanna ask it what it thinks of Winnie the Pooh

Kidplayer_666 ,

They’re afraid that the LLM will speak the truth. The truth that Xi Jinping is…. Knocks on door ,gunfire sounds

Kidplayer_666 ,

Immich! Am still testing it, but it seems to have most features I need, like an iOS client with automatic backups and even server side face recognition ( your server naturally)

iPhones And Androids Can Now Warn You of 'Secret Trackers' (www.ibtimes.co.uk)

In a collaborative effort, Apple and Google have developed an industry-standard detection feature called "Detecting Unwanted Location Trackers" (DULT) for Bluetooth trackers. This standard allows users on iOS and Android devices to be alerted if an unknown Bluetooth tracker is monitoring their location.

Kidplayer_666 ,

My sister has encountered that issue, when a kid on her school trip had an AirTag in his bag. Everyone’s phones rang

Kidplayer_666 ,

Vaping would be a deal breaker for me. Besides being douchy, I just plain don’t like it, just how I hate smoking. Piercings I probably wouldn’t like outa taste, but someone who can think for themselves is a must otherwise I’d get bored quickly. Not being able to cook would be somewhat problematic as I can’t cook well either, soooo…

Kidplayer_666 ,

Freaking finally. How wasn’t this a thing before? By this point I’d expect a wireless version lol. But looks amazing and can’t wait to get it

Kidplayer_666 ,

Yeah, I’ve used third party software to get tablets as wireless monitors, but it has mostly sucked. Hopefully it’ll be opened soon. Tho if they started with it closed, that’s how it’ll remain. Apple has the target disk mode, but doesn’t the laptop need to be shut down for it to work? Besides, APFS or whatever they use is useless when compared to literally anything else

Kidplayer_666 ,

Stand for Armenia and windows95man. Both deserved better results

Kidplayer_666 ,

I mean, KDE 6 now has a basic implementation

Kidplayer_666 ,

In portugal, often houses were only considered built when paint was applied to them. There was a while where a lot of single family homes were naked concrete/bricks

Kidplayer_666 ,

I mean, when you eventually died, you’d get back to your last save, and since you’re unconscious, it would still feel like nothing

Kidplayer_666 ,

1945 is a really weird data point, because yk, WW2 was still going on, so at least for Americans, most of them were probably employed by the state or by the various enterprises that produced the weapons needed for the war effort

Kidplayer_666 ,

That kinda sounds like the exact same argument for the west to ally with dictatorships in the name of not allowing communism to spread

Kidplayer_666 ,

Rainbow six siege and valorsnt are other examples

Kidplayer_666 ,

Then another one comes up, and the cycle continues

Kidplayer_666 ,

Originally it kinda made sense. Kinda hard to juggle through getting a deal with every single carrier everywhere

This Asus PC case monitors your dust filter so you don't have to (www.xda-developers.com)

Traditionally, one would have to periodically check the status of the dust filtering on a PC case, but that's not the case (pun intended!) with the Asus ProArt PA602. This chassis has a fancy infrared (IR) sensor behind the front-facing dust filter. Should this detect a set layer of dust covering the filter material, a small LED...

Kidplayer_666 ,

Wouldn’t the pressure sensors give out wrong readings if the case was put somewhere with bad airflow

Kidplayer_666 ,

Maybe it’ll be governments partially funding it. If Schleswig-Holstein’s attempt is anything to go by, it might be a way

Kidplayer_666 ,

You have 4 basic options for funding:

-you rely on individual donations which doesn’t bring in enough money

-you force people to pay for it, which makes it less attractive when compared to traditional software, and makes much of the community pissy

-you rely on corporate money

-you rely on government money

None is perfect, but some amount of government funding (let’s say, 10% of what they would pay Microsoft for the equivalent software) might make sense

Kidplayer_666 ,

My bet is that it is a law against porn, and furry porn would be inside that

They’re doing it with chrome users if I’m not mistaken, making popups to use Bing. There was even an apology as the popups were supposed to only be shown once instead of constantly if I’m not mistaken

    Kidplayer_666 ,

Now there is a candidate in Texas who changed his name to Literally Anybody Else

    Kidplayer_666 ,

Fun fact, I’m actually in one of the few countries they thought of couping, that they didn’t. Portugal in 1974 had a military staged coup against the dictatorship that ruled back then. It looked a lot like we were going to turn red, and Kissinger even said “let them be, it’ll remind Europe why communism doesn’t work”. Long story short, after a few nationalisations, an attempted coup by radical left, and some general weirdness, we managed to get ourselves a mostly working republic that still lasts to this day

    Kidplayer_666 ,

I mean, most revolutions end up pretty badly, maybe we just got lucky

    Kidplayer_666 ,

Maybe what we need to do is to start considering such feature abandonment as abandonware and make it so all abandonware must be user modifiable and open source. (To me ideally, there would be a complete separation between software and hardware, aka, if the company can substitute or replace it, so must the user)

    Kidplayer_666 ,

The point in my “ideal world” is that because they are forced to open source the software and allow users to replace it, other users could for example try to implement android TV on that old Sony Bravia tv. If the Android phone market is anytbing to go by, it is a real possibility, depending on the popularity of the tv

    Kidplayer_666 ,

The point is that if they get complacent, they get replaced (example: what tesla and new Chinese companies like BYD are doing with the car market)

    Kidplayer_666 ,

Still in development, but quite stable! I daily drive it

    Kidplayer_666 ,

We actually got GPU drivers, touchbar drivers, webcam drivers, all we’re missing really is M3 support, microphone and Vulkan for the GPU (and Touch ID)

    Kidplayer_666 ,

I mean, you posted it publicly. It would be equivalent to screaming it once randomly in the streets, always a chance that a policeman hears

    Kidplayer_666 ,

He’s a guy who wants to save the world, and in a lot of ways has the tools to save it. But only if it is him saving it

    Kidplayer_666 ,

Gimme 50 nukes, and I’ll have it solved for you

    Kidplayer_666 ,

Are you aware of the fact that right now China is on a housing crisis of its own, brought on by the fact that most households have no way to create an investment of their own to save for retirement, except for real estate, leading to some of the highest prices in the world?

    Kidplayer_666 ,

If you actually choose to bother to check out pricing in most Chinese cities, you would come to realise that the pricing is very similar to the London center. When you consider that the average salary in China is much lower than in the UK, most Chinese are only able to buy houses with help from their parents and grandparents. Add to that the lack of balance between genders due to the ruinous one child policy, and the cultural norm of property being a requirement before even trying to propose to someone, and you got a housing bubble that looks set to burst.

Cave Johnson here, they say that science is built on top of the shoulders of giants. Great stuff. But not in aperture, we do everything from scratch. That’s why we sent down a team of scientists to go live in the wild and rebuild society. They all died of dysentery, but it gave us valuable insights into society building, and how not to do it

Apple to allow iOS app downloads direct from websites in the EU (with restrictions), in compliance with the Digital Markets Act (www.pcmag.com)

Developers interested in distributing iOS apps on their websites also have to cross a high bar. This includes being registered or incorporated in the EU, being a member of “good standing in the Apple Developer Program for two continuous years or more,” and having an app that received “more than one million first annual...

I’m European, so actual football. The other one works too tho. What matters is the dynamic of “my team is always right, the other is always wrong, I’ll punch you in the face for it”
