To be honest I actually don't think it sounds all that bad. If it were forced military service I'd think it was terrible. But it sounds like you can just do community service instead of the military training. And it's just one weekend a month for twelve months. Given how much we're disconnected from our communities these days I think making sure kids engage with their communities in this way could actually be really beneficial.

That's just thinking about this one policy in a Vaccuum though. I know nothing about British politics so I have no clue what other awful and heinous shit this party may or may not be into.

We really need UBI. If people just had enough money to live without NEEDING to work these people would be able to live relatively (compared to how they're living now) comfortable lives without making public spaces awful.

It's real hard to find a purpose when your basic needs aren't met. And finding a purpose doesn't need to mean working a job that pays you money. You can find purpose in so many different ways and Id argue finding purpose in something not related to monetary gain is more fulfilling than a job. If your basic needs are met by UBI you're free to find purpose outside of the rat race.

Imo TE has always been a shady company in terms of business decisions. I still for the life of me cannot understand why the OP-1 is over 2 grand. It's a music making machine with a cruddy keybed that's not even volocity sensitive that's also intentionally limited in terms of how you can use it.

Now, don't get me wrong. I definitely think it's a cool little device capable of doing cool things. But there's no way in hell this tiny thing is worth 2k. You can spend 1/4th of the price on something like an elektron Digitakt or a polyend play and get very similar functionality in an arguably better more robust package.

TE are a boutique company that intentionally releases overpriced products so they can have this reputation of being a "premium" company. Just like Apple. If it weren't for their pocket operators (which are arguably closer to being toys than actual audio equipment) I wouldn't think they'd have anything remotely worth buying.

Side note: the playdate looks adorable. But, similarly to the OP-1, is very overpriced for what it does.

Yeah I do genuinely think the pocket operators are cool. At least I did when I thought they were cheap. Had no idea they got that expensive. Though that's obviously not at all expensive when you're talking about audio gear. So I'm willing to give them a modicum of leeway there.

Eh SDR to HDR is a waaay bigger jump than Mp3 to FLAC. Assuming of course you have an actual HDR display. And not one of those "HDR" displays that only have like 400 nits of peak brightness.

I was actually confused in the exact same way. Your comment made me understand of course. But it's very easy to think this is just a bus stop in some forest somewhere and this is just how it looks. He's talking to an elf girl after all. I don't think it's unreasonable to be under the assumption that a mystical forest bus stop would just look like this.

    This doesn't make any sense at all. All headphones are analog regardless of what their cable is and cable type makes no difference when it comes to sound quality. And there certainly isn't some kind of limitation inherent to usb. Unless you're plugging your headphones directly into some hifi vinyl record setup your signal is going to start out as digital and will have to be converted to an analog signal with a DAC. Plugging into a 3.5mm headphone jack just means you're using the DAC built into that device. Plugging into a USB port just means the headphones you're using need to have that DAC built in (likely into the cable itself). Not only that but there's a high degree of likelyhood that the DAC built into your USB headphones would be made of better components than the one attached to whatever 3.5mm jack you're plugging into. Though it's not super likely that a higher quality DAC would affect sound quality all that much if at all. Basically any DAC you're likely to run a signal through is fully capable of playing full quality lossless audio. Though a better DAC would at least make noise from interference less likely.

    Well, it's a little more complex than that. he's the good guy in macro scale. (if you believe his own presciece. Which is admittedly dubious due to the obvious conflict of interest. But Paul shows on numerous occasions that he can indeed see the future.) everything Paul did (and by extension everything Leto II did) was to guarantee humanity's survival as a species. Paul essentially sacrificed billions of lives across the empire in order to ensure humanity wouldn't go extinct. That being said he is definitely not the good guy to the Fremen. He and Leto II fucked that group of people over big time.

    If someone were to take offense to me calling them dude I would absolutely make every effort to stop the behavior. I would never want anyone to feel invalidated over something like that.

    That being said I feel like this whole outrage is manufactured to rile people up. I highly doubt many people are getting worked up over it. Dude has very much become a gender neutral term and is even now just used as an exclamation. I'd be willing to bet a large portion, if not the large majority, of the trans community doesn't give a fuck about the term and they probably use it themselves.

    Yeah, I mean, if someone politely asked another person to stop calling them some phrase or another and they refused they're definitely an asshole. No doubt about it.

    In the same token though if someone gets rude and indignant over someone calling them dude one time that person is also an asshole.

    We should be treating people with respect. Period.

    I'm assuming he's referring to student loan forgiveness. I could see him getting banned from certain communities for saying he's against it.

    It's hard to tell because of the quality but I think the phote might be edited to make him skinnier. The arms and body just don't look right to me.

    While this is awful for a company to do and I'm 100% against drm in games in general I do think the steam deck issue is being overblown. Valve quickly put out a proton update that fixed compatibility on steam deck. The game works fine now.
