No. This should never have been approved for sale. A consumer vehicle cannot be touted as "dangerous" by the customer representatives except as in ways accepted by all passenger vehicles. Not all work. Just work you have to do to not starve. We have enough resources to provide a basic living for everyone. We can then use work as an incentive for more luxuries and encourage people to explore the types of work they want to do. Like creative endeavors. Pay more incentive for the work people dislike doing but is still necessary. We'll figure out what work is actually necessary and what is just spinning wheels.

That's great info and I'll check it out. But I mean in regard to this meme: what do we do now? Because this meme seems to be addressing the 2024 general election in the US and it makes it seem like there's 3 voting options. But to my knowledge, there isn't a popular 3rd party that meets progressive or anarchistic values. So is this suggesting not to vote? Other direct action like a strike? And if so how does that address the issue of the election this brings up?

So this was an undercurrent I wanted to address: are you suggesting that Americans not vote in the 2024 general election? Because I feel that's incredibly short-sighted and damaging. I agree with your points of working to get ranked choice voting and other measures passed in all states quickly. But people still need to vote against the obvious fascist candidate in the short term. Damage control is important because if Trump gets elected, no one is going to have time to organize. The last 4 years I only occasionally check the news or when I see stuff on Lemmy. When Trump was President, I was checking the general news feeds multiple times a day to ensure that he didn't do yet another insane and damaging thing that I had to immediately plan for. And I'm in a privileged class. Vulnerable people have to do so much more to stay safe and a second Trump presidency will get thousands killed. No one's going to have time to campaign against FPTP when they are organizing just to stay safe from government and militia persecution. If Trump gets elected again, it's pretty much over. And anyone eager for a civil war hasn't looked out enough to see what hell that is.

My personal (european (although it shouldn’t matter)) opinion is that americans should try do build communities outside of government control so when things go bad they have someone to rely on.

Do you have any suggestions on what that looks like? Because Americans have all the same communities and groups Europeans do: unions (lesser extent), religious groups, community organizations (school based, local government), LGBT+ organizations, local political orgs, hobby groups, etc. But I don't see how that directly helps matters. They will provide community and potentially safe spaces, but only if they aren't infiltrated. And if there's a fascist government, there likely won't be any groups outside government control. They will seize control of everything and make illegal anything they don't control. So I guess I don't understand what type of groups you are referring to.

It really needs to be a disqualifying factor for generative AI. Even using it for my hobbies is useless when I can't trust it knows dick about fuck. Every time I test the new version out it gets things so blatantly wrong and contradictory that I give up; it's not worth the effort. None of that really matters. The people who can buy big trucks, generally, can afford to. Or at least with debt. Can't get a $100k car loan if you make minimum wage.

These are all small luxuries that people deserve to have (disagree about trucks, but that's just an example). Otherwise it's calling for austerity. Which is something we DON'T need. Not when we have billionaires. If the working class is being asked to tighten their belts, they should instead be looking to the rich who are hoarding the vast majority of wealth.

That being said, we really need to teach young people about finance. It's completely lacking from modern education: be design. People desperate from credit can't afford to quit their jobs for a chance at a better one, stand up to their boss, or risk their job by unionizing or demanding safe working conditions.

I like that idea. If you do something illegal but minor the board has to give up a certain number of shares to the government. More for larger crimes. Do something bad enough: government nationalizes the whole company.

Exactly. Self sufficiency is definitely a myth. Humans cannot survive alone for long. You simply cannot make tools that will keep you alive for long. You'll have to venture back to civilization to get anything worked via metal at the very least. Just the basic crafts for clothing, shelter, tools and food is more than any one person can handle. It took whole tribes and villages even at the earliest points.

Now if you mean: how can I live in a cabin off the grid with minimal contact (1-2x a year) then that's doable.

Also how is this pointless? The entire discussion revolves around the Patriarchy: a social system that gives dominance to men. Gender is at the heart of it. Trying to apply this discussion to other fields falls short because it is discussing the nuances of gender politics and the Patriarchy in particular. Which is why trying to overlay this discussion onto race or nationality doesn't make sense (referring to other common arguments, not this thread in particular).

Thanks. I'm not sure what it is but any talk of men-women gender privilege gets a LOT of flak from pro-men posters on Lemmy. Unsure if it's instance-based or just general userbase outside LGBT+ instances. I've blocked a few bad ones but I see the flak from across a wide array of instances.

I try to push back hard against disingenuous arguments to try to clue people in. I've tried what this thread suggests, and still do try to use logic and honest discussion but when I see the same dumb argument 5 times in a thread, I lose patience.
