PilferJynx , to Technology in Microsoft now permits uninstalling Edge, Bing, and OneDrive to adhere to the EU's Digital Markets Act.

That's what it's become. But, hear me out, what if I want the hardware without the software? Tough luck? Both are so tied together that if the company pulls the rug you don't have reasonable access to the hardware.

PilferJynx , to Mildly Infuriating in This is $87 worth of shopping. Please feel free to use the space below to critique my purchases

I don't want to cook after I get home from work. From scratch, doubly so.

PilferJynx , to Technology in To buy no longer means anything :(

We need more FOSS. If our governments weren't utterly captured we could publicly fund worthwhile projects.

PilferJynx , to 196 in secret rule

"Come, Mr. Frodo!' he cried. 'I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you."

PilferJynx , to Technology in US lawmakers vote 50-0 to force sale of TikTok despite angry calls from users

They don't. It's all bad faith to get what they want - control.

PilferJynx , to Memes in Progress

There's a sweet spot between concentration and dilution. I hope lemmy can self regulate that ratio.

PilferJynx , to Comic Strips in Cool

Lol. "Kids, do some drugs, just not all the drugs"

PilferJynx , to Technology in Roku TV bricked until agreeing to new terms of service

It's just an exhausting uphill battle that never ends. I don't have the time or resources to combat monied corporations.

PilferJynx , to 196 in Shitty digital door(ule)

Then how would you be able to hide a camera for facial recognition?

PilferJynx , to Technology in X is becoming a 'ghost town' of bots as AI-generated spam content floods the internet — A sign of the scale is the thriving industry in bot-making

I've almost lost complete confidence in anything I see online as true. These image filters to full on bots are distorting what reality is in very negative way. Most of the things still can be filtered out if you're paying attention, but how long until the tech becomes indistinguishable from actual human engagement? 5-10 years is my guess.

PilferJynx , to Mildly Infuriating in Adult daughter. Should I disown her!?

Not all of us are blessed with the smarts.

PilferJynx , to Memes in Conservatives: keep it down!

Basically it costs too much to recycle most plastic. It's just so much cheaper to sell it to impoverished countries that will either burn it or dump it somewhere.

PilferJynx , to Privacy in Reddit: 'We Are in the Early Stages of Monetizing Our User Base'

I just left my comments on. I still use reddit when searching actual human responses from Google. Maybe one day someone might find my archived comments useful in the future.

PilferJynx , to Memes in Everytime

I think, on average, we're too dumb as a species to keep it in mind. I would hate to say we deserve the system we've got, but here we are.

PilferJynx , to Technology in 'You're an amazing father, Elon': Musk accused of running burner on X again—and nuking account who outed him

It honestly makes me genuinely sad. He definitely has complexes and holes in his soul to conduct this behavior. Doesn't excuse him from being a complete asshole though.
