I still listen to the noises. The cpu makes a unique whine when I highlight text.

    PopMyCop ,

I have no idea. It was just something I noticed. If I were to guess, it's just some odd combination of dust, resistance, and the architecture of the cores that causes a hundred little things to mesh together into a whine.

    PopMyCop ,

Lol, this isn't part of my workflow! I just happened to notice it one day and was intrigued.

    PopMyCop ,

And then group c proceeds to grab the first dish with some flippant saying about it being no big deal. It's not just weaponized incompetence or avoiding any help at that point, it's being an asshole. Living with others that don't have cooperation as a goal is a nightmare.

    PopMyCop ,

Well, he doesn't care that facebook tracks him, and you apparently don't care that youtube sorry, google tracks you.

I am genuinely horrified to see how much data google collected from me

I created a google takeout and in that zip file I found some files containing a ton of data about me. It has logged every single page I visited while using the google search engine and chrome browser. It even logged every single time I opened an app on my old android phone. It even has VOICE RECORDINGS of me and a log of every...

The faces training was all of the filters. Every single time someone took a video or picture and used filters to add cute moe eyes, or make themselves look like a crab, it was being used to make whichever company was doing it have a better bottom line or to accelerate their facial recognition.

What can you get to within a 15-minute walk of your house?

A recent YouGov survey asked Americans what they think they should be able to get to within a 15-minute walk of their house.

Of these choices, I can currently walk to all of them from my apartment, aside from a university (no biggie, I'm not currently studying, although there is a Tafe within walking distance), a hospital, and a sports arena.

How many can you get to with a 15 minute walk from your house?

One of the few sad things about a transition to a car free(er) environment: no more bucees. They pay well, their bathrooms are great, and their food, though expensive, is great.

Also, you reminded me about the local gas station where I once worked nearby. They had better food, though it was all fried, than any place within a 20 minute drive.

    PopMyCop ,

Let me know, or make a big post if you solve it. I haven't played Bannerlord since switching to Linux and don't want to dive into a quagmire quite yet.

    PopMyCop ,

That's strange to me. I remember, and still think of, amazon as a marketplace. I bought used books and video games as my first purchases, waaaaay back when. You would have to sort out the prices and compare them to the listed 'condition' of the purchase, trying to figure out whether 'like new' condition was worth the $3 price jump over 'good' condition.

    PopMyCop ,

Go watch it, and the show it spawned from. Just be prepared to feel bad because someone yanked it before it finished.

Oh, and show first, chronologically and airing date. Movie has spoilers.

    PopMyCop ,

Please stop! The flashbacks, oh god, the flashbacks!

    PopMyCop ,

Your cat isn't name agamemnon, is it? Because good lord, that looks exactly like a cat I know, leash and all.

    PopMyCop ,

No, no, no. See, your typical garbage bag has some smush to it, and a bagel has a hole! If we put these facts together, we can surmise that OP 3.0 is actually an earthworm with one of its ends sewed shut!

...I don't know anything about an earthworm's sex, so I'm going to go with it being a neutral.

    PopMyCop ,

Have you tried LibRedirect? It works for quite a bit more than just youtube. I personally love it for the fandom mirrors.

I didn't know donut or pho restaurants made their own dough. It probably varies by location, though. I've seen some donut places where the boxes of shipped ready to make product were stored where customers could see it. It blew my mind how much they had on hand in order to not run out.

Maybe MY experience is limited, but what manager these days isn't pulling double duty? They do 3/4 of the job time with duties no different than the people under them, and also have to do all the managing part when possible. This is how it's been in the public service, retail, and customer service jobs I've worked.

    PopMyCop ,

If I was in texas, and I was forced to make the choice of whether to uproot everything and leave because of politics, or stay in a shithole...

well, damn, I'd fight back pretty hard against any government that would put me in the position where I would have to make that choice. Abbot and his ilk are going to be screwed from every direction if they keep pushing this poison.

    PopMyCop ,

I've never tried shining a black light on mucus. Isn't it the PSA that glows in UV light for semen traces? There shouldn't be any of that in mucus.

    PopMyCop ,

Look, you must remember: ear sex isn't real sex.

    PopMyCop ,

Huh. I never really thought of the character designs from helluva boss (haven't paid attention to the hotel) as being designed to be rule 34 stuff. Everything I've seen has the characters differing pretty wildly from their standard look in order to get the sexual characteristics.

    PopMyCop ,

I don't deny that, at all. It's just that everything I've seen of her basically throws the actual design out the window, and keeps only the coloring and canine bits. Maybe the hair and the goth clothing if the artist pays attention to details.

    PopMyCop ,

I think an arch user would know to wear the antistatic band on the wrist that's grounded... but maybe that's just me. /pretentious_sniff

    PopMyCop ,

chkdsk -f (or r or whatever the third option is), reboot twice, but do it multiple times because steam on linux asks you to reinstall the games in the exact same spot and you accidentally do it because you're not paying close attention due to the mild panic windows threw at you?

    PopMyCop ,

Interesting. I was able to use the files perfectly fine from linux, but windows threw a tantrum when I tried to boot and removed everything linux had touched.

The airbag vests are good. They are worn by the big boys in the moto gp purely because they are so good. Leather saves your skin, pads save you bruises, and with these your soft tissue injuries to the neck and torso are almost mitigated. They are also helpful with joint and bone injuries, as they stiffen certain areas so that your limbs don't get whiplashed if they grip the pavement when they should slide.

On the controlled surface of a racetrack, these are a godsend. Obviously on the street, nothing is going to save you from some of the hazards around, like vertical surfaces in the shape of mailboxes, street signs, or nearby cars, but overall they are still able to improve your chances.

    PopMyCop ,

Shoot, they won't just be posting a tl;dr, but a commentary on it, and sometimes really good context from their field or experience. It's basically the article, but written by a more intelligent journalist who is a part of whatever is being reported on, not just observing from interviews and phone calls (and lame corporate website 'about us' pages).

Okay, but, like, wtf is going on in this picture? Red dotty area is supposed to be his kneecap, right? But what the hell is in the center of it? It looks like an oddly drawn snout with a nostril in it. Then there's whatever that bulbous growth is to the right of the knee. Is the darker blue line the outline of his leg, or is it the green 'I've-got-really-wide-calves' line? And then what in the eye-popping-nasty-juju is the black area outlined by the teal? Is that supposed to be his upper thigh with the arm resting on it? Is it another animal clinging to him? Is that kneecap actually the head of an owl (look at the ear shape of the shiny/rubber black looking area), and the black thing going up the body clinging on?

    PopMyCop ,

Maybe... But that's a long freaking tail.
