ABSOLUTELY. I have way more trust in iMessage’s privacy than RCS. I am ELATED for this change, but I want the colors different. I wouldn’t be upset if it changed from green to something else like peach or something, though, to reflect at least there might be SOME encryption or something going on.

I don’t care about Spatial Audio for phone calls, but for songs and podcasts it’s AMAZING. It’s a gimmick, sure, but it’s really fucking neat.

I got some AirBuds Proz and was blown the fuck away listening to music with Spatial Audio. I would love to try using them for games, but I’m sure they work like garbage on my Windows machines. Still, VERY cool tech.

I listened to you link after commenting and it is absolutely an accurate representation of basic Spatial Audio for normal headphones! Thank you for sharing. I went through with Spatial Audio off and it astounded me, then was surprised when Spatial Audio ON made it less impressive. It’s because on Apple devices, it has the sound come more from where the video is coming from. For regular music, it doesn’t do that.

I agree with you fully, but Spatial Audio is waaaay cooler than 3D TVs, and yes I did watch Avatar on a 3D TV on acid

But I really really have fun with audio. Also it’s not horridly expensive. While I’m working, I’m constantly looking around and hearing how different things are. When I had my partner try, they were like “wait can you hear this?” because it sounds like such a realistic concert performance. Artists I’ve never listened to are fascinating to me.

You don’t suck, no way. Your opinion is the exact opposite of mine but I respect that. All of my 128kbps songs I come across I redownload in FLAC, but you’d better believe I keep my old 128kbps CD rips for nostalgia.

It’s also funny cuz even with mediocre quality songs and podcasts, head-tracked spatial is tits, looking around and having everything be… in places… and stay there? I can’t describe it but it really blew me away.

The excellent podcast “Search Engine” has a couple recent episodes covering this, the history of Google and how it became the core of the internet, and their bullshit AI shenanigans. Highly recommend.

Do you have an iPhone or an Android device? Folks usually access them on phones! They’re just basically audio stories, fictional or nonfiction, informational or INCREDIBLY STUPID, but hilarious.

If that sounds fun, I can recommend some things!

I’d you’re on Android, you have an app called Android Podcasts. If you’re on an iPhone, I highly recommend the free app Overcast because it’s infinitely better than Apple Podcasts.

What kinda stuff are you interested in? My podcast list is mostly comprised of non-annoying true crime, interesting tech stuff, and the dumbest comedy garbage I’ve ever heard (and I very much love how dumb it is.)

I loved Apple Podcasts until a few years (maybe almost a decade ago..) when they really wonked up the interface. I tried a couple different applications, but ended up on Overcast. It has a fantastic interface and gosh darn LOUDNESS EQUALIZATION (“Voice Boost”, they calls it) so podcasts that have both quiet and loud parts or aren’t mastered well are actually listenable in like, a car.

I’ve seen Apple podcats recently and it got better! But I still think overcast is vastly superior.

Absolutely! “How to survive the media apocalypse (part 2)” is a deep dive, you don’t need to listen to the first episode (but the first part is also very interesting!)

Also “How much glue should you put in your pizza?” is a follow-up to the aforementioned episode!

Thank you! I was misinformed. I had the first two android phones but switched to iPhones after my partner got theirs, and because phones stopped having physical keyboards, I hated the way Android typed. It’s better now but with a stock system I’m more into privacy now. I’ll keep AntennaPod in mind for reccos in the future!

Yeah, but not Lastpass. And I wouldn’t use the same password manager’s account for work AND home. I use BitWarden at home. My work switched to 1pass after Lastpass was breached.

Heyo yee old laptop gang. I have a 2011 MacBook Pro that I slapped more ram and a SSD into and it works amazingly. I don’t use it for games anymore (I bought it to install Windows and play games) but it handles like 60k photos wonderfully.

I actually am on my original battery, it only has like 25 or 30 cycles because I only used it to play games so it was always plugged in. Before I installed the SSD, I tested the battery and got through 1.75 playthroughs* of Beetlejuice on full brightness!

The model I have is the early 2011, so it’s got an ancient i7 and a dedicated GPU. On the most recent OSX version it’ll take, the GPU doesn’t appear to be working though… which is fine, because I just use it to browse stuff and store a million pictures.

I don’t smork anymore (I miss it but it makes my brain sad) but I have a kief press… at one point I had three great big kief cookies. One of my first times hanging out closely with my partner we smoked like a quarter of a cookie, and I don’t remember the rest of the day. We’re married now, so I guess I didn’t make too much of a fool of myself. I did fall down on ice, which was cool.
