I work in alternative energy and such. No need to give up your morals. Maybe you won't make as much, but that sleep feels so good and without qualms.

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

To be clear, I don't live there, nor would I. I'd still see if people are living there for lack of means to escape, or because revoking bodily autonomy isn't important to them.

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

If you're doing it for that reason, add lessening manual into the mix as well. Maybe don't, I dunno.

RubberElectrons ,

I've got a motorcycle, but really enjoy my bicycle. Had a car for a few years way back in college, but after insurance and your first set of tires, you quickly realize cars kinda suck.

Then Uber and Lyft came out, I use them for getting to airports, but otherwise loving the bicycle life, even here in south LA.

Props to gen z for not buying into the earth-wrecking economy of fluids and tires and wipers and washes and oil changes and maintenance and and and...

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah... You're probably right. They're still quite popular in foreign countries due to mechanical simplicity/robustness. In fact I've noted car rentals that are automatic tend to be a bit more expensive then manuals, which the locals use.

Regardless, do your thing and have fun.

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah word.

RubberElectrons ,

Wdym? I don't fully get the Z's, but that's ok, since it's what's happened to every generation before and after.

If you worry about how much TikTok they use or something, talk about it, but with them, not at them.

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Oh... But I don't think we are, based on what I've seen.

While we do see people falling into being influencers and stuff, things I'm personally disinterested in, I don't really care so long as they're trying to do the right thing by people as well. We got blamed for playing video games instead of buying houses and cars, remember?

Everyone makes mistakes as they live, life is dynamic, it's fine 🤷

Life, in a nutshell haha.

Do or don't, we just gotta be good to our fellow peeps as the earth keeps spinning. I still haven't looked it up, and it's fine 😉

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

😂

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Haha, trying to make both a PSA and a reply to you results in muddied waters.

When properly split, I'm simply saying that I think most people are cool with each other, gen Z is cool to me as a millennial, and let's keep grooving.

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Sorry for all involved. But yeah, we all just... Exist. We choose to make meaning for ourselves, if we want to.

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Yup.

But how would you get the bottles into the top without a cherry picker? Imagine drinking a bunch of those small bottles, then hiding the evidence by carefully maneuvering a lift?? This whole story smells fishy..

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

But do those lifts actually go that high? That's just such a crazy thought haha

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Really? Can I ask where that is, because that sounds crazy.

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

I guess every area has it's own weirdness.. in my part of California, we have to provide our own refrigerators for our rentals! What!

I'm a bottom struggling with becoming a sub. I like doing things for my partner, and I like when she steps on me. Just not all the time..

What do you mean by boomer tech?

Who wanted to eliminate that? My Grama used to work at Bell Labs as a researcher when it was in Manhattan, she always looked back fondly on those chapters of her life. Startups are fun, but Christ are they unstable and you're wearing 11teen hats simultaneously.

I pirate, and also pay for games I think the devs should make money on. I happen to like bioshock and la noire enough to pay for them on steam, with cracked copies to keep.

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

It depends on the game. I also don't want to create many accounts all over the place. I don't think gog has bioshock?

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Sounds like they gave you a free lobotomy too.

Well look, I don't have enough insight into the design or backend for Lemmy or mastodon, but Facebook has heavily invested into their network, and likely aims to grow.

How could they do that? All of this seems blockable on the client end (meaning I'm not good/shitty enough to work at Facebook) but imagine:

  • an algorithm takes a selection of high ranking fb posts and cross-posts to Lemmy, far faster and more frequently than regular users. Oh, you'll need to login to read.
  • threads could wholesale repost other users and their comments, but behind a threads login wall

Basically do some scummy behavior using our public statements, questions and comments, all to get more attention devoted to what's happening on their site (and its associated ads).

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

No need for an antagonistic tone here, just conversing with you.

I think this would be a problem now for people like me who enjoy browsing all, where the feed would get overwhelmed by facebook-sourced content.

And I don't like meta as a company, so it shouldn't be a surprise that many people do not want to provide any data whatsoever to them via threads etc.

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Precisely my 2nd point.

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

This loser again. Hello, moron.

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Mmm... No. Couple of gen Z kids I know are basically checked out of social media, having reverted to good old group chats it seems.

There's still room for improvement, but Linux gaming has come a long way in a short time. (lemmy.world)

I remember when Proton launched it was like magic playing games like Doom and Nier Automata straight from the Linux Steam client with excellent performance. I do not miss the days of having the Windows version of Steam installed separately.

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Oh I'd never even heard of that second site haha.
