UraniumBlazer OP ,

I can't see how the blockchain would be particularly useful here either. The security features of the blockchain come at the cost of extreme energy usage. Storing documents using simple public-private key cryptography is waaaay more than enough imo.

UraniumBlazer OP ,

It wouldn't really affect u even if ur id got deleted. Let me explain. Ur id is nothing but information correct (your name, address, etc.). The same goes with contracts. What makes ur id special is that the government has verified it to be legit.

A very simple way of doing this is by making the government cryptographically sign ur id/contact. I would really recommend getting a functional understanding of how public-private key cryptography works. Basically, the government just has to put up its public key online. If u have ur id, u can verify if the document is issued by the government using their public key.

As long as the public key stays there, and u don't lose ur id and contracts they won't technically be lost.

Also, if the public key suddenly changes/disappears without being notice, everyone would know that something's up. It's like ur government building's staff was suddenly replaced.

UraniumBlazer OP ,

Ah, yeah... Therein might lie an issue. 😅

But that's an issue with papered systems as well, no?

UraniumBlazer OP ,

The government would have a copy as well! It's just that it's very hard for an entire government's data and your data to get wiped at the same time.

UraniumBlazer OP ,

Nooo ur documents. Not ur private key lol (it wouldn't exactly be private now, would it). Let's say u lose ur private key. U would have to manually do shit like u do when u lose ur passport.

What I'm saying is, ur identity being deleted only if the government AND u lose all ur data on all devices at the same time. Which is incredibly unlikely.

It's like saying, "I don't trust a papered system because the state buildings and my house could burn at the same time with my documents in them"

UraniumBlazer OP ,

Then it's a badly implemented system. A good system won't be able to have such leaks.

The ugly truth behind ChatGPT: AI is guzzling resources at planet-eating rates (www.theguardian.com)

Despite its name, the infrastructure used by the “cloud” accounts for more global greenhouse emissions than commercial flights. In 2018, for instance, the 5bn YouTube hits for the viral song Despacito used the same amount of energy it would take to heat 40,000 US homes annually....

UraniumBlazer ,

But no, AI bad AI bad AI bad AI bad lalalaa I can't hear you AI bad /s

UraniumBlazer ,

Cryptocurrencies have no real world applications. AI does.

UraniumBlazer ,

Burden of proof baby... U accuse someone of something, it's ur job to prove it (or at least come up with a hypothesis). Just commenting ur conclusion n running away giggling is not the nicest thing to do.

UraniumBlazer ,

Because US bad China good USSR was actually the good guy Uyghur genocide never happened Tiananmen square incident was a lie REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE /s

UraniumBlazer ,

No sir he didn't! Chairman Mao was the greatest communist revolutionary to ever exist, sir! The Great Leap forward was such a successful project! /s

UraniumBlazer ,

I'm not even from the US lmao. But still, good effort.

[ 中华人民共和国寄语] Great work, Citizen! Your social credit score has increased by [100] Integers. You can now have priority transport and can now get into prestigious colleges! Keep up the good work! [ 中华人民共和国寄语]

UraniumBlazer ,

Ok, we at least have a hypothesis now. So u'r saying, the US military is secretly executing a Republican plan when a Democrat is in office, when there was a Republican President in office just 3 years ago who tried to coup the government? Don't u think the military would've pulled shit waaaay more noticeable than DDOSing a goddamn archive for five minutes?

Also, why would America want to spark WW3? Businesses function best during peacetime. WW3 would definitely mean usage of nuclear weapons. By your logic, we should've already had a nuclear war back when the Soviet Union existed.

This is just like the anti vax conspiracies- the US military is putting chips through vaccinations to control u.

UraniumBlazer ,

Again, burden of proof. Ur comment is similar to anti vaxxers saying- "Bill Gates is putting microchips through vaccinations to control society. What, why're you asking me for proof? Look it up! It's right there on the internet! Plus billionaires are known to pull shit like this."

UraniumBlazer ,

One is plausible. One is not.

Again, mentioning the conclusion without the goddamn hypothesis and evidence to support the hypothesis.

What did you do with all the time you saved typing ur instead of your you fuckin dunce

I boinked ur mom (sorry, u kinda invited me for that lol)

UraniumBlazer ,

Didn't know CCP bots weren't capable of comprehending shitposts.

UraniumBlazer ,

It's not the absurd amount of energy that's the problem. It's the absurd amount of energy that has to be STORED AND RELEASED within a fraction of a second in a controlled fashion.

If you wanna go electric, you would need a stupendous amount of capacitors and a gun that won't get destroyed due to the immense energy release.

If u wanna go chemical (like an actual gun), u r faced with the same problem of the gun exploding.

The only approach that MIGHT work is the Spinlaunch thing, where u essentially store this energy as angular momentum in a THICCC carbon fibre rod. Spinlaunch is still yet to demonstrate anything remarkable, so there's that.

UraniumBlazer ,

Yea, which is nothing. Plus altitude means nothing when u want to put stuff in orbit. It's the initial velocity that matters for an apparatus like this.

UraniumBlazer ,

I think the painter was secretly a Republican (not the American political party). The painting perfectly personifies the British monarchy - covered in blood.

UraniumBlazer ,

Dayum, the Jewish accent is realll!!! I thought it was just limited to older Jewish ppl (saw this from a comedy bit).

UraniumBlazer ,

I don't understand either. What's he doing?

UraniumBlazer ,

"Mommy why are they swallowing each others' tongues in the last panel?"

UraniumBlazer ,

This bail is especially remarkable, because Kejriwal was arrested under the PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act). Now, the BJP government has made this law such that if you are accused of money laundering, then YOU are the one who has to prove your innocence. Not the other way round. Which means that you are guilty until proven innocent.

Now, the anti-corruption agencies in India are of course under the thumb of the ruling government. This means that the BJP can point at anyone, accuse them of money laundering and get them arrested for good, where the only way to get bail is to prove innocence.

Now Kejriwal got out on bail FROM THIS, which is quite remarkable, and further emphasizes how his arrest was purely political in nature.

UraniumBlazer ,

Maaaan I wish I had an environment like this at home when I was a kid... I always like to imagine how nice the feeling of safety must be for kids with a nice family. Well... For ppl like myself, let's hope that we can be the family we wish we had...

UraniumBlazer ,

But if anything, they taught me what not to do as a parent.

Hehe yeah, that's the unfortunate silver lining...

UraniumBlazer ,

How does having kids = being a bad parent?

UraniumBlazer ,

For those unaware, Organic Maps (uses OSM) is really good! It's good for 90% of all ur navigation needs. For the rest 10%, there's no good alternative to google maps unfortunately.

UraniumBlazer , (edited )

Same same. This is a problem in shithole cities. Good cities have their own transit apps (which are like Uber for public transit).

UraniumBlazer ,

Traffic updates aren't exactly a problem for me as I travel everywhere using my bicycle/public transit.

The only problem I face is that I can't get public transit information on OSM. Now ideally the city should be the one making this information accessible. Unfortunately for me, I currently live in a shitty city (although not for long). Therefore, within a matter of months, Organic would meet almost 100% of my navigation needs.

UraniumBlazer ,

Calgary, Hong Kong, Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, etc.

UraniumBlazer ,

Do u live in some place less humans live? Like a village or something? OSM is mapped by volunteers, which means that less OSM enthusiasts around you = worse mapping. Perhaps you could start a little bit of mapping?

As for the voice navigation, well Organic doesn't have its own voice. It uses ur phone's native text to speech engine. If u have completely degoogled ur phone, then u probably would be using some other tts engine (which most probably sucks ass).

As for the searches, yeah, they need a better local search engine.

UraniumBlazer ,

Oof what an icky thing to do.

Get it? Ecke... Icky.. I know, I am comedy.

UraniumBlazer ,

An unrelated-ish question I know, but how much would Kagi's index have costed?

UraniumBlazer ,

Sad hon hon hon baguette baguette noises...

UraniumBlazer ,

But but my poor tastebuds... What would they do without that delicious cow meat and the cow titty juice... /s

UraniumBlazer ,

I'm all for student loan forgiveness and all that. I think education should be socialised for anyone till any level.

That being said, this meme is an example of false equivalency. Where is the money for student loan forgiveness coming from? From taxes. Taxes that these ppl (who also had to pay for student loans) have to pay. Hence, effectively, these guys paid their own loans off and are contributing to pay others' loans as well. That's their grime from what I understand.

Morally, I believe that they're wrong. I'm just pointing out the false equivalency generated here.

UraniumBlazer , (edited )

A federated alternative for that already exists - peertube. Adapting it to a short form video format wouldn't be that difficult. However, running it (any video streaming platform) is expensive. How do u plan to fund it?
