I'm getting some new panels installed this year, and I think they're suggesting they'll be at 80% after 25 years.

It looks like there is disagreement between the title and content of the article. Title says 75.9, content says 79.5

Either way, does this suggest that new panels might do better than expected over a 30 year timespan?

Windex007 ,

Yes, I'm looking at the paperwork and I'm realizing that you're right, 80% at 25 is the warranty guarantee, so I'm guessing they're confident it'll typically be much better than 80 at 25

This is amazing, because I do have HA running and I do want to pull data. I'll look into what their plan is to see if I can make any last minute adjustments.

Assuming data is sent in the clear over any medium which I can get a receiver for I think I'd be ok, I am planning on getting a software defined radio on my HA in the near future

Windex007 ,

Any thoughts on a set of APsystems DSL3-L inverters? That's what I'm quoted for. I'm in Canada so no idea what the inverter market is here

Windex007 ,

Dan you sound like a rad dude ad I'd love to have a beer with you

Windex007 ,

Yes, because if you read their previous comment you'll see their primary concern is the CO2 released by curing concrete that is the equivalent of running a coal plant for DOZENS of seconds.

Windex007 ,

I appreciate that OP wants to provide a framework for what women should and shouldn't wear.

Windex007 ,

I think the ask is to just pick a lane.

Nobody had a gun to his head demanding him to espouse his commitment to an unregulated free market. He made these broad statements of his own volition.

Now, when he's championing the exact opposite... What?

For people who believed, rightly or wrongly that he had any value-baded stances, they have to accept that they don't exist.

That's what these doofuses are upset about: that the xth richest person in the world is only out for themselves. There is no deeper truth.

Windex007 ,

Compliance fines come out of a different budget so who cares

Windex007 ,

Are you suggesting they pylon off half a lane?

What's this subs rule on using the R word?

Windex007 ,

Yeah, the Crocs really seal the deal.

Windex007 ,

It was working for a while for the guy. He was paralyzed from the neck down and he was able to use it to play some lame game like LoL or something.

Windex007 ,

I'm wondering if it's a regional thing? I just looked online for pressure treated 2x2's and all the ones I'm seeing (home hardware, home depot, advantage lumber, etc) list as actual being 1.5x1.5

Windex007 ,

Can't wait for chatGPT to start chastising people for asking a question it's already heard before.

Windex007 ,

I don't think it's been the case that there has been a backslide, though. Win 11 marketshare peaked, then declined, and then 10 increased.

Windex007 ,

I'm in love with these foghorn leghorn memes and I hope they never stop

Windex007 ,

I don't think there are fundamental differences between driving culture between the USA and Canada, but Canadian stats track with Europe?

Windex007 ,

Yeah, ON and QC have the best rates BY FAR among provinces. Even the next best province (MB) is already 25% worse than the national average.

Windex007 , (edited )

I'm talking about the vehicle deaths per capita (same as the chart from the article)

Windex007 ,

It won't be too long before it's this AND the mess they make every time they eat.

Prioritize an easy to clean high chair don't make my mistake.

Windex007 ,

Somebody please do the math which shows the global delta of CO2 related arch vs Ubuntu bloat. I need to know exactly how many dozens of minutes of vespa usage this is equivalent to per year when taken globally.

Windex007 ,

ESC : q ENTER (assuming you haven't modified the buffer)?

What's the two key press exit pattern?

Windex007 ,

I fucking hate grocery shopping.

The only thing that made it not-terrible really was getting in on couples arguments. You gotta be sneaky though.

One time a couple was arguing about which peanut butter to buy. I didn't even need peanut butter. I had to be like "excuse me" to even get at it because they're standing right in front of it. Grabbed the one, and muttered to "myself" : "yeah, this is the good stuff", and walked off with it.

Put it back later.

Windex007 ,

I expect English is their second language, based on the surreal absurdity of the binary state of "healthy" and "futility". It's all a futile attempt, we all die. The comment reads like a Salvador Dali or René Magritte. C'est ne pas une pipe.

Which isn't me ripping on someone for learning a new language, it's just an emergent property of people unconstrained by convention.

Windex007 ,

I can't remember what year it was, but the Canadian armed forces had a photo contest and the winning shot was literally from a disposable camera.

Windex007 ,

I would argue that it is literally never the question you should ask, assuming you get to ask a single question of a master in your craft. It's honestly an embarrassment of a question in that scenario. It's just a complete waste of the precious access you have to real talent.

You could maybe ask your contemporaries that question instead.

Do you think a theoretical physicist would ask Einstein what type of pencil he used?

Windex007 ,

This is absolutely perfect. With this information one is no closer to knowing anything at all about theoretical physics, and one has incurred the opportunity cost of asking a question that gets them no closer to knowing anything about theoretical physics.

This is where the artist of the original cartoon was careful to clarify the ultimate goal of the asker was to do what Michaelangelo does, at the level that Michaelangelo does it.

If one doesn't care to learn about the craft, then it's a tidbit. An anecdote to share at parties. The solution to an escoteric crossword puzzle.

If you want to become a similar master of the craft, it's a waste of a question.

Reddit has never turned a profit in nearly 20 years, but filed to go public anyway::Reddit, the message board site known for its chronically online userbase and for originating much internet discourse, filed for its long-anticipated initial public offering on Thursday.

Windex007 ,

Any company that has no profit is worth nothing in an IPO.

I envy people with the bravery to speak passionately about something they don't understand at all.

Windex007 ,

Shorts apply downward pressure to the market price, so not sure how well thought out the plan is.

Windex007 ,

Is this... Wait. No. It isn't. Never mind.

Windex007 ,

How would convincing people that their plan to short the stock might be a legitimate risk (encouraging shorts) be good for the stock price?

Windex007 ,

If the resounding answer is "we should short it", then the contribution would be negative.

They initially did try to get WSB on board w/ the DSO, with a cheeky "why let institutional investors have all the fun ;) " but as far as I understand it, WSB isn't biting.

Reddit: 'We Are in the Early Stages of Monetizing Our User Base' (www.404media.co)

Reddit said in a filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission that its users’ posts are “a valuable source of conversation data and knowledge” that has been and will continue to be an important mechanism for training AI and large language models. The filing also states that the company believes “we are in the early...

Windex007 ,

It will be interesting to see how a distributed system solves this problem.

The issue really comes down to the infrastructure costs. The fediverse is by design significantly less efficient with hardware than a centralized system. It isn't that it's difficult to scale, it's just that it's expensive to scale. And since the hardware is maintained by generosity of donation...

This is offset by the higher interest in volunteer labour, though.

I think the "solution" is just to accept that instances will burst in and out of existence (and favour) based on time and generosity.

Windex007 ,

How do reconcile that with all of the people claiming they use it to write code?

Windex007 ,

You make it sound like the military advancements were an unexpected byproduct, as opposed to the real goal.

Windex007 ,

The science of putting a ballistic payload anywhere, including heaven.

The space race was awesome because it let the two countries measure their dicks (specifically their military dicks) without actually obliterating the planet.

The "for all mankind" angle was a great way to frame things for the population of Earth, for sure. But just like mobile chemical WMD labs in Iraq, sometimes the given justification and actual justification are two different things.

Don't get me wrong, there absolutely were beneficial optics. Something doesn't have to just be for one thing. But it was always primarily about practical demonstration of weapons capacity under the facade of human exploration.

Windex007 ,

My B!

Windex007 ,

No, I don't think anyone has definitely proven that George W Bush and Colin Powell KNEW that the WMD claims in Iraq were bullshit when they were presenting them as the primary justification for the war.

It's just the nature of the beast.

Just read it again except for the last sentence.

    Windex007 ,

In relatively short order, the majority of web content will be AI generated anyways. People will be mad that other AIs are stealing what their AIs wrote. The technology and business aspirations have accelerated us towards a shittier and shittier web experience for a few decades now. I think we'll hit some kind of web-shit-singularity within 5 years.

    Windex007 ,

I am also committed to not learning things, and am very proud of that!

    Windex007 ,

None of the other candidates had a chance at winning. That is not the same as Trump having a chance at losing.

    1. It isn't and has never been a truth machine, and while it may have performed worse with the question "is 10777 prime" it may have performed better on "is 526713 prime"

ChatGPT generates responses that it believes would "look like" what a response "should look like" based on other things it has seen. People still very stubbornly refuse to accept that generating responses that "look appropriate" and "are right" are two completely different and unrelated things.
