If anything I use them for everything because I find it much easier / faster.

Worth mentioning that I could not for the life of me get Jami to work in any way the last time I tried it; I've seen many guides and overviews, but couldn't find a single one where it's actually successfully used. Cool idea, though

Alternatives to Google Docs/sheets?

What are people using in place of Google docs/sheets/etc? I'm looking for a simple program that syncs with the cloud so I can access my documents on my different computers or my Android phone. I run Windows 10 (don't crucify me). I use libre office for things that can stay on one computer, but for things like school notes,...

When they lose that money they are going to create a very big political problem for the rest of us.

And this will not happen 💀

amanneedsamaid ,

BTC is solely a mode of investment, it offers no real benefits over fiat except decentralization. At least XMR is as or even more anonymous than cash, whereas Bitcoin has zero utility.

amanneedsamaid ,

Yes. I suppose it would also have a sort of utility if it was mass adopted and therefore practically spendable for the average person, but I would argue that there is no inherent utility to Bitcoin.

amanneedsamaid ,

What do you mean how is that possible; that guy was a totally inhuman piece of shit.

amanneedsamaid ,

It's not like all of these teachings are obviously fake and irrelevant, and anyone following any of them are ignorant to real (or at least, fully real morality). I dont need any amount of deities to tell me what my values are.

OP is doubly ignorant; believing in Christianity AND insisting on their religions moral superiority 💀💀

Apple products are all about stupid proofing.

Where do we draw the line between a functioning computer and chromebook? an IoT device? Stupid-proofing should not come at the cost of basic functionality.

Preventing side loading protects people who don’t know what side loading is.

No, it does not. Users attempting to sideload an app would obviously be warned, not to mention various other methods of malware scanning / sandboxing which can alleviate that non-existant issue.

Those of us who want it are a vocal minority trying to screw up their entire business strategy.

Creating Fisher Price computers is not a valid business strategy, and serves as a detriment for all users regardless of proficency. User freedom is beneficial for absolutely everyone.

amanneedsamaid ,

I do. However, computers should function as computers.

Any women who (who we're already assuning I'm interested in enough to take on a date) won't go on a date with me because of my phone's OS are dodged bullets imo.

The way I see it, community-based social media is a public forum, where every post / comment is public (Obviously less applicable on an individualized platform like Instagram). Everyone has an inherent right to privacy, but not when they're using a platform like Lemmy. Twitter and Facebook are fundamentally different platforms. You can't expect privacy while using lemmy, so use a different platform to post private content.

"Here's what someone who has never created a private messenger thinks about Whatsapp's privacy."

Why would anyone care about what he has to say? 💀

I use an rsync bash script and a 1TB SSD. I keep media unencrypted, and use Veracrypt containers for any sensitive data I need to back up.

Amazon saved children's voices recorded by Alexa even after parents asked for it to be deleted. Now it's paying a $25 million fine. (www.businessinsider.com)

Amazon saved children's voices recorded by Alexa even after parents asked for it to be deleted. Now it's paying a $25 million fine.::"For too long, Amazon has treated children's sensitive data as its own property," Josh Golin, executive director of Fairplay, said in a statement.

    amanneedsamaid ,

Totally agree. Facebook should have been absolutely crippled financially after influencing an election, but they get off scot free.

    My idea is this:

Instead of a maximum fine being applied, you take a violation, lets say influencing an election, and you calculate how much of the corporations revenue came from that source. (i.e. Facebook messenger revenue would not count for election manipulation). Then, take a huge portion of that revenue (60%, 70%? [Depending on the violation]) and take that from their revenue. Who gives a shit if Facebook literally has to close down one of their services from lack of finances, thats what they get.
