He's using the hand he stole from Paint Bucket Man. Filled her with grey.

Edit: I went to read the previous 4 comics just to get this.

anguo ,

Now I have to go try it, so that I can go through this article's paywall.

anguo ,

I don't know if I had to do anything special for the prompt, but it just gave me a short summary starting with "Unfortunately I cannot provide the full text of the article you requested, as that would likely infringe on the copyright of the content. However, I can summarize the key points from the article."

Tap water is free in Montreal, Canada. You pay for a small fixed rate along with your electricity bill, but the water pipe network is so old and leaky they never actually installed meters.

Jumblie is a challenging browser-based open-source puzzle game to guess the four words of the day (jumblie.com)

The game has a theme word for each day, so keep that in mind when guessing the words. It is more challenging than Wordle because there are no hints apart from the theme word. So, if one of the words is 'landing' and you guessed 'land' there is no confirmation you're getting warm at all....

Search it along with "potato" and you'll find recipes

I disagree. Having your phone on silent isn't an out-of-the-ordinary use.

I despise listening to various pings, but still want my phone to vibrate and the screen to turn on. Most people at work/school do the same.

"Do not disturb" is for specific, short durations, or while you sleep (if you don't turn your phone off).

anguo ,

Its probably the "each other" that makes it trickier. I do ping my watch with an audible ring from my watch to find it, even though it's always on silent.

Recommendations please: Self-hosted web site analytics

Hello y'all! I have my personal (static) website / blog running on netlify out on the public internet. Netlify, in case you're not familiar, is not a traditional web host, so I can't add databases or anything else like that on the server itself. Right now, that site has zero analytics / visitor tracking and I've decided I want...

I'm running Umami on Railway (so not self-hosted), for two small websites. Works pretty well. I think Railway changed their pricing, but I've been grandfathered in with a free plan.

Edit: all of my websites are also on Netlify.

anguo ,

If you do go this route, the best way is to make a fork of the main Umami github repository, then link that to railway. When you want to update, you can just sync new changes to the repo, and railway will rebuild your instance.

To add to that, the charred bits make me think they didn't preheat the oven.

I own a plug-in hybrid, and wouldn't really recommend one over full electric. That said, I average around 2.1L/100km.

anguo ,

I don't have anything that I dislike in particular, I just feel that by trying to be two things, it does both poorly. My main criticism is the massive weight, which is inefficient. You're either lugging a heavy (quickly emptied) battery around, or a heavy motor and tank of gas that you're not using (I keep mine at a quarter full for that reason). I'm not saying don't buy a plug-in hybrid, I'm just saying that I'd recommend going fully electric instead.

anguo ,

I agree. The main advantage over an ICE is for small trips. Small trips is also the reason my gas consumption is so low. It's also the reason I'm about to replace the car completely for a cargo e-bike and public transit ;)

In China, "How much do you make?" Is right up there with "What's your name?".

Pretty disarming for unsuspecting foreigners.

I was aware of that, but had imagined that newer machines would have slowly migrated to something else. I'm also always astonished by the fact these are running full OSes.

You misunderstand their comment, they're saying to sell EVs to China.

anguo ,

Aaaand that's why they're getting downvoted.

He's not badly hurt though, his shoes are still on.

anguo ,

These look like two happy shareholders.

I've been to a recycling sorting facility (glass, paper, metal and plastic all go in the same bin here). The people working the conveyor belts had to practically wear hazmat suits, as whatever came in was vile. I rinse my containers extra clean since I saw that.

Her legs rotate around themselves and flip sides at 16s in. It's still very impressive, but ...yeah.
