I had completely forgotten about Ventrilo, Team Speak, and Mumble. This whole post is a blast from the past.

I don't understand any of that, but I'm about to move into a brick house and now I'm wondering if my cell signal is going to suffer.

My eyesight went to shit from sitting at a desk and staring at a monitor all day. I wonder if my eyesight would've remained perfect well into adulthood without computers.

I've been off Facebook for somewhere between 10 and 15 years. I quit it because I didn't care about what friends and family posted because they were all very religious, and I couldn't post what I really wanted without offending said friends and family.

We're low-tech and just use a rolled-up towel on the floor. We use it to soundproof the closed door at night (otherwise the cat whining wakes us up at 430am), and curl it around the open door to keep it from swinging.

I'm now rereading the original comment in my head with a Russian accent. It totally takes the edge off, actually makes it comical.

Suggestion: Get some canned refried beans. With the tortillas and cheese, you can make burritos.

Better suggestion: Get a bag of dried pinto beans and learn how to make your own beans. It's really simple, just needs to be aimmered a long time.

It was the "hours kneading and rolling and cooking" that gave it away for me, then the end confirmed it.

That's exactly what he's trying to do. He likes to poke holes at commonly accepted things in an attempt to make people think about stuff that they don't normally think about and make them ask why more often. This is a good thing. Unfortunately, it just comes across as annoying to a lot of people.

The boats are useless too. But they seem to have invented some kind of self-replenishing energy source because they just keep on going without having to refuel.

I just read an interview of James Cameron where he says they actually cut off her hair which was down to her waist at the time. He told her:

"Your hair will grow back. Vasquez will live forever."

And she really does. What a character.

I feel like that could happen in the same way that "you and I" became a common overcorrection.

There is manufactured outrage, and then there are the people who are looking for things to be outraged over.

Can confirm. Had my mammogram last month and they recommended an ultrasound because my breast tissue is dense. I've had it once before with no problems, but my husband's company switched insurance providers and it kicked in January 1, so now the lab where I normally go isn't in-network and every lab that is in their network wants to charge me hundreds of dollars. This is with good insurance. (My husband always picks the most expensive insurance package because we're getting older.)

Money is a little tight right now because I'm in between jobs, so at this point I've given up. I'll look into it again when I'm employed again but it's just not affordable at the moment.

Music Piracy Is Back, Baby (gizmodo.com)

"Muso, a research firm that studies piracy, concluded that the high prices of streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music are pushing people back towards illegal downloads. Spotify raised its prices by one dollar last year to $10.99 a month, the same price as Apple Music. Instead of coughing up $132 a year, more consumers...

Google lets you download your music files that you previously uploaded. The method isn't intuitive but it's not difficult. I don't know if the option is still offered but I would guess it is since they still have YouTube Music.

I used to have a big CD collection. Ripped it all off the CDs and uploaded the files to GPM. I was able to download it all.

I still use YTM (don't judge me 😛) and it actually defaults to the audio version instead of the video version. They just give you an option to switch to video if you wanted to.

Garlic and onions are the basis for so many things that we cook at my house. I can't imagine not having them in my diet.

4 times, that's rough. Were they all pretty bad cases?

I feel lucky I've only gotten it once despite working retail, but I did get the flu once too and it was much worse than COVID.

For anyone curious, I do keep up with my vaccines and boosters.

I'm just curious, did you bring the carts in in smaller batches so you'd have to make more trips and the whole task would take longer?
