Why haven't publication embraced crypto donations like BAT?

I feel much better about sending tokens ive earned by selling my attention, and then sending those earnings to publications which garner my attention.

Is media just too old to adapt?

ghostface ,

The old perception is reality, while your not wrong, still means decent institutions are losing out on funding options.

Credit cards were seen as a scam at one point because scary digital currency. Same with torrent protocol. To be honest I'm suprised lemmy doesn't accept it for server donations.

So its either stay with the current model which is visibly dying or find another way

I'm not trying to to die on the sword of bat, but for end users being able to just easily transfer or donate without having to know crypto...

I wouldn't say OP is advocating for everyone to adopt their path, just for individuals who take that path yo not feel stigmatized.

I see two solutions to the issue presented. Issue one, proximity. I personally don't hear or see the pressure to be in a relationship from ppl who aren't. But family and friends who have a vested interest in the person, who also think relationship is the natural state will always worry.

The solution to proximity involves part of solution 2 whivh is marketing. There should be a concept of monoship which society has largely forgotten. We had terms for them but never classified as a group. We would call these ppl "hermits" or "spinsters". In reality introducing this concept and say your are in a relationship, just one a healthy monoship with yourself

Hmmmm first they legalize weed, then Colorado goes... We should be able to fix the things we buy!

Maybe I need some weed

Nurses Protest 'Deeply Troubling' Use of AI in Hospitals (www.404media.co)

“Life-and-death decisions relating to patient acuity, treatment decisions, and staffing levels cannot be made without the assessment skills and critical thinking of registered nurses,” the union wrote in the post. “For example, tell-tale signs of a patient’s condition, such as the smell of a patient’s breath and their...

Having worked in this space in the past, on the document and imaging processing side. I was unaware that ai was being used in monitoring.

The dangers I see from the technology side to the end user side is, companies replying on the model data and hiring according, versus skilled nurses using their knowledge and intuition to interpret ai data and responses.

But from purely a processing scope, AI is extremely beneficial, just the lost of tribal knowledge on why we need to use ai will get lost

Charter has/had a dark fiber ring ready for use back in 2005. I assume most other cable providers have similar, because they had to build it out after the first FCC spending bill after 99

Hopefully you don't conform and assimilate into trekdom or Linux nerd popular memedom.

As a reddit api refuge, I realize just how much effort it is to
A create content
B maintain frequency

For power users its easier to run a bot to automate posting. I would suggest two things need to take place possibly 3.
One a new community for just new community request, and we direct ppl there and combine the posters with ppl.who want the content?

As much as everyone enjoys the beans, I'm sure if content makers had insight on what content leechers wanted some shift.

Right now lemmy still feels like a private club, bit once the news outlets start looking to lemmy communities for information the shift will happen.

I just hope the spirit of lemmy being free but understanding support the mods, donate to the org and this will remain free.

Older Computer Programmers & Engineers

Lately, I was going through the blog of a math professor I took at a community college back when I was in high school. Having gone the path I did in life, I took a look at what his credentials were, and found that he completed a computer science degree back sometime in the 1970s. He had a curmudgeonly and standoffish...

Vscode won me over, but yes. Notepad++, vi, vim, sublime and vscode

As reddit refugee the biggest plus of lemmy is the ease in which it feels. Almost like visiting Canada from the States... But the longer you stay the difference are clearer.

Ive had to change my habits, I was a lurker on reddit and realize abunch of lurkers moved over and are just looking for traction ans information. I now receive just about all of the news I was learning from reddit and the last push is engagement.

The other added bonus is commenting here is not commenting on reddit. Ppl are interested in a dialogue even if they disagree with your point. This will be what saves lemmy.

Password Manager that supports multiple databases/syncing?

I currently use keePass, and use it on both my PC and my phone. I like it because I can keep a copy of my DB on my phone and export it through a few different means. But I can't seem to find an option to actually sync my local DB against a remote one. I've thought about switching to BitWarden but from what I can see it uses a...

Why not self host vaultwarden? I was using keepas for all of the reasons OP mentioned, but my woes went away when I migrated over.

Clean export from keepas and import into vauktwarden. Plus with passkeys being deployed, is there a reason against it?

ghostface ,

Exactly... If you lose internet connection is just stays local until you reconnect.
