mundane , to Technology in In case you missed it: Bank info-stealing malware found in 90+ Android apps with 5.5M installs

Anatsa uses advanced techniques to avoid >detection and gain access to banking >information.

Anyone who knows what those advanced techniques are?

mundane , to Technology in Spotify won’t open-source Car Thing, but starts refund process

There is probably licensed code in there somewhere. Which means open sourcing it is really cumbersome. It would probably cost more money to open source it than to do the refund.

mundane , to Technology in Google lets you edit sent Messages in latest Android feature drop

It's so weird that Google migrated to the pile of dung that is RCS instead of just fostering any of their existing chat protocols. Google Talk was working great 15 years ago...

mundane , to Lefty Memes in It's about time anyway.

What?

mundane , to Technology in America Is Sick of Swiping

mundane , to Technology in Homeowner baffled after washing machine uses 3.6GB of internet data a day

Exactly, it's just an estimate.

mundane , to Technology in Enshittification Continues: Discord to begin showing advertisements on it's free platform

I couldn't agree more. I hate that some open source projects are using discord for communicating.

mundane , to Privacy in Reddit started blocking VPN users on old.reddit.com

Try Rdx, it's great for read access to Reddit.

More info in the GitHub repo.

mundane , to Technology in Meet Palmsy, the fake social network where your posts stay on your device forever

I wonder if I can trick my father into replacing Facebook with this.

mundane , to Mildly Infuriating in Google Play Store listing apps installed from F-Droid that it cannot update

The package name is the unique id. If you want to distribute multiple variants (like two versions with differing signatures) they should not have the same identifier. If they are not the same the id/package name should not be the same.

Having different package names would also prevent the Google play store from trying to update it.
