nixcamic , (edited ) to Technology in Announcing the Ladybird Browser Initiative

Servo already exists and is independent and written in a modern language and way ahead of this.

I mean, competition is good but they aren't the only independent browser engine.

But they don't have to review every video, just the ones that are flagged by the AI then contested, which is probably a fraction of a percentage of all of them.

nixcamic , to Technology in Washing machine chime scandal shows how absurd YouTube copyright abuse can get

That seems a bit excessive, say all 8 billion people were using Google products, 8 million reviews would be 1 per thousand users which seems like many more than are needed since almost all users of Google are passive and don't create content.

nixcamic , to Technology in Manifest V2 phase-out begins

Yeah it's just that I feel like if someone is still using freaking Chrome in 2024 then asking them to use something even more obscure than FF might be a bridge too far.

Or just use Firefox.

nixcamic , (edited ) to Comic Strips in You can't go home again

Cat And Girl can be really hard to understand. Go read a few dozen of them and you'll start to get the vibe. It's often told through the two of them having to disjointed conversations over eachother, much of which is just random observations or jokes, but there's usually an element that ties them both together. Also frequent collided sentences like this mix of garbage pail, North Atlantic garage patch, and sour/cabbage patch kids.

Red glue.

Even then it's added up the cheese, not the sauce. If you added white glue to the sauce you'd get some weird pink looking sauce.

nixcamic , to Technology in Report: Microsoft to face antitrust case over Teams

And also all of their competition also kinda sucks. So like, Teams is worse enough that if you're using it every day you'll hate it but not worse enough that if you use it once or twice you'll notice.

Massgrave ftw

nixcamic , to Technology in El Salvador Will Keep Buying 1 Bitcoin Daily Until BTC 'Becomes Unaffordable' With Fiat Currencies, Says President Bukele – Featured Bitcoin News

I have very mixed feelings about Bukele but nobody is leaving because of him. Salvadorian emigration has slowed greatly under him and many people are actually moving back.

I've also done the off grid thing and you can get way more than 2 hours on a car battery if the fridge is already cold and you aren't constantly opening the door. Also have ran modem full sized fridges on 1000w inverters. So YMMV.

nixcamic , to Technology in This was the first result on Google

Nah if the fridge starts cold and you aren't constantly opening the door you can easily get 5 hours on a car battery.

nixcamic , to Technology in This was the first result on Google

I mean that's the least wrong part imo. I've ran a fridge off of a car battery and if it starts cold you can go a lot longer than that.

Correction: they still use AC motors, but those motors don't use line AC. It goes line AC > rectifier > DC > inverter board > variable frequency AC to run the compressor motor.

Most RV fridges just use DC motors, but there are some that use VFDs and AC motors.
