Better than a garbage-ass McChicken ever was. I remember eating them when I was on the struggle, before covid. The only good thing about them back then was the price; now they don't even have that going for them.

No one wants their private/semi-private chats to be indexable or searchable. The whole POINT is to not have what you say broadcast to all and sundry.

What these chucklefucks are asking for is to make ALL Discord content indexable and searchable, even extremely private intimate things, and that's absolutely unacceptable.

It's your proposed solution that's the problem. The answer isn't to make Discord public, it's to convince people to move off of it, and quite honestly, if you want people to leave Discord so badly, you'd be better off setting up separate public forums for the open source projects you are interested in on your own and convincing/bribing respected members of the Discord to post there, or copy/paste technical info there.

I feel the same way about Lemmy so I sympathize with you, honestly.

It's dangerous being around strangers here, especially male ones who will overpower and beat/kill you in public for the slightest offense.

So people, especially women and trans folk, are safer in cars than they are on public transport.

And that's nothing to say of the Jim Crow era, or how public transport was denied during the lockdowns depriving the elderly of freedom of movement.

It sucks being justified in being afraid, yes. And I am very, very justified in my stance, not just by historical standards but through personal experience and experiences of the people I care about. Public transport is the pits and a last resort people are forced to be dependent on for poverty. It CAN'T be the way forward for our people.

The fact that it's AI generated and not directly light-into-image makes it untrustworthy.

Like actual film photos are a lot harder to fake and therefore are more trustworthy.

In principle, that image AI software can be programmed to generate whatever it wants. It can even censor your own film footage.

Like if a revolution happens in this country next year, you bet your ass the police and military will exact atrocities on the American people to stop it, and the corporations they're in bed with can reprogram everyone's phones to censor out the footage of it, so genocide cannot be proven.

Just because the majority of people believe something without thinking about it doesn't mean it isn't true or they're not critical thinkers.     Incivility is always just a transparent excuse to censor content someone in power doesn't like. It happens to me all the time on Lemmy, of all places. It's not a platform problem, it's just the human condition.

    People need to keep their worldviews stable to keep the narratives of their lives straight, and toppling them over causes extreme psychological damage, so I actually don't blame them for doing that. It is just self-protection for them, even if it is harmful for everyone else.
