punkisundead ,

Are you looking for an affinity group as described in the linked text or in general participation in anarchist projects in groups?

I think for the first its really hard if you currently dont have many personal connections to like minded folks, but the second one is something I really encourage you to try out.

Also if consensus driven / non hierarchical activism is your main focus, you might find groups that are not anarchist but (try to) practice their activism this way. Its kinda the current way most groups aspire to organize themselves if they are not specifically hierarchical.

Edit: also while the foodnotbombs group might currently be inactive, you could still try to shoot them a message via social media or email and ask them for connections and ideas in your area.

Like I get that the penis size is a really effective way to attack those with insecure masculinity, but to me its body shaming and ultimately something I would want to avoid.

If you want to annoy SUV drivers with all genitals, maybe replicate what the tyre extinguishers are doing.

punkisundead ,

For anyone interested, checkout !shoplifting ;)

punkisundead ,

There is not "one" real anarchist answer. There a so many perspectives in anarchism, that claiming so is really misleading imo.

For many things(meat, PS5, alcohol, medical supplies) its close to impossible or nor feasible to get them via dumpster diving.

And about the "better for the world part" I think you are wrong, but tbh its not like it matters. People should steal stuff because they want it and not because it makes the world better.

punkisundead ,

100%
I also dont want to be landlord by proxy.

punkisundead ,

Why is it so easy for you to talk about executing someone?

punkisundead ,

You are literally thinking about executing someone because of ONE comment they made and somehow act as if that is going to safe the world. Its just ridiculous.

I am in no way or form against violent revolution, insurrection, riots, antifascist violence, self defense or plain revenge. But you just said that someone deserved to be executed because of one comment. Idk how a world where this is possible is something worth fighting for and I guess in the end, we wont be on the same side after all.

punkisundead ,

You are on the list now, get ready to get purged because of one comment in which you questioned the holy revolution /s

punkisundead ,

I called a (maybe not) comrade out for their violent and authoritarian delusions. If that counts as defending someone who made a racist and factually wrong comment, I think I stay away from your crowd. Might get shot and stuff

punkisundead ,

I reported the troll and moved on, I think my priorities are actually in a good place. I think its annoying that my open questions gets constructed as defending bigotry, but I guess its not easy to assume good faith on the internet.

punkisundead ,

As a vegan, I also want a good live for all the pigs out there

punkisundead Mod ,

When a consistent enforcement of a policy protects neo nazis the policy needs to get evaluated tho

punkisundead Mod ,

I agree with your argument, but would like to add something about this part

Is it generally ethical to shoot people with guns to kill them? Generally not, I think we can all agree. What about shooting the SS soldier who has come to murder you and your loved ones? What about shooting the SS soldier who has come to your neighborhood not to murder you or your loved ones but one of your neighbors? In these cases most people who are not SS officers will agree these are acceptable times to kill. It’s still a terrible thing to kill someone regardless of the circumstances, but in these instances there weren’t other options. The reason there weren’t other options is that the Nazi party created an environment where certain groups of people had no option other than to escape by any means necessary.

Firing shots at the SS officier to protect someone is not the same action as executing someone (which is ehat the SS officer is planning in your example). Yes firing shots might kill them, but its not necessarily the goal of that action. I think there is a big difference between doing violence with the intent to kill and doing violence with the intent to stop, chase of or scare away.

That difference is why I agree with the "by any means necessary" sentiment of militant antifascism.

punkisundead Mod ,

I get why my comment might seem that way, but I am pretty sure I am not making any moral judgements and instead only state my own perspective.

Why should killing ever be your goal? I am not going to say you are a bad person for doing or believing that, but I really dont get why anyone would want to do that.

punkisundead ,

How about 0 hours for work?

punkisundead ,

If your work is niche, then you can get a higher pay rate and work less hours because you are in greater demand.

While it might work that way currently, I dont think its really desirable to have some people work way less than others based on skill. I dont think me being a software developer should result in me having more free time than the health care worker.

punkisundead ,

Comes down to what is work for you. Work for me is what I do for my employer and that is actually not done for the benefit of society but for their profit. I think I would have a better impact on society if I did not work and instead just did the things that needed to be done. Cleaning the neighborhood, helping friends and neighboors, building things that need to be build, cooking food for strangers and comrades etc...

punkisundead ,

I agree, but for me there is a difference between being productive and work. I want to feel productive, helpful, effective, feel the impact of my actions etc. but to me that is something different from work.

So i guess its mostly a semantic difference?

punkisundead ,

How matrix with its end to end encryption giving my data to everyone????

punkisundead ,

Hmm my idea would be to look at the webspaces of projects in your local / regional / national area and see if they have some concept papers. Would be best to focus on those that have actual funding by the state so you can see what worked and maybe even ask them.

I found something like that for my area, but idk if you can use that considering its mostly in german. But maybe you can atleast check out the design: https://hausderstatistik.org/archiv/

Also I never designed something like that but the software I would use would probably Scribus or a pirated Adobe InDesign.

punkisundead ,

In a solarpunk utopia I wont be having a job lol. (Hit me up if you want to repair a smartphone you found in the trash tho or for general support)

punkisundead Mod ,

the lam came to an end last August, when Cuban authorities detained the 50-year-old environmental activist during a layover in Havana and turned him over to the United States

Cuba did whatt?????

Besides that, solidarity to all those imprisoned and on the run!

@OP I think its a good fit.

punkisundead ,

Do you think it might be a good idea to add content warnings to the title?

punkisundead OP Mod ,

You can gaslight people all you want,

So I know it’s election year but go astroturf reddit, please.

I dont think this is a good way to engage with the position of others, especially when I asked for peoples takes. Also from my understanding of stabbys comment its just an attempt to analyse the current political landscape in the so-called US through the idea of left unity. And tbh i find it pretty interesting.

punkisundead OP Mod ,

without suggestion as to what souls be changed

because that is really dependend on your context and location. whiteness is differently constructed and maintained in different places and what you should / can do also is different.

One starting point for inspiration might be !landback, another one might be just talking with someone irl about this

I think you’re just racist against white people.

I dont think this is helpful for anyone and I dont get why you would say that to someone, especially someone who from my perspective tried to engage with you in good faith

punkisundead ,

Witnessed the same being done by tankies a lot

and funnily enough also by other anarchists lol

Defend Pride Zine - Direct Action Handbook (www.sproutdistro.com)

This zine provides suggestions on how to defend pride eventsin an era of increased attacks against queer people in the United States. It looks at potential far right threats (Proud Boys, Neo-Nazis, far right media), how to organize (using affinity groups), the logistics of how to protect events, and how to look out for each...

We Don't Agree on Capitalism: Demarcating the Red and Black

https://wedontagree.net/we-dont-agree-on-capitalism-(essay)

@anarchism

punkisundead ,

Anarchism and Marxism describe dramatically different vulnerabilities in capitalism which in turn imply dramatically different strategic orientations toward the world.

If raw economies of scale are the deciding factor in struggle, then meaningful social change can only come through proletarian uprisings or movements of sufficient size. Hence anything that isn't building up working-class institutions and/or The Party is a waste of time.

But if capitalism is riddled with inefficiencies and potential exploits, then actively being able to search through them to find critical points of leverage is far more effective because it enables force multipliers and attack vectors which can give you capacity on par if not exceeding mass movements.

I feel like this point did not come across that well in the text, but thankfully it was summed up at the end. One thing I like about some "classical" anarchist texts is that they really hammer down on each idea with sometimes multiple times stating their point from different perspectives or with multiple metaphors.

Also the text might not be as accessible for those without some IT knowledge, but for me that was actually perfect.

punkisundead ,

Are you aware that there are other places than the so-called USA? Its really annoying when people pretend every little thing is somehow about their election, even though the rise of the far right is a thing in many places around the world.

Also just something I thought about: If you think that its important for progressives to work together with the centrists, maybe stop antagonizing them at every opportunity and instead try to something more constructive.

punkisundead ,

Yep lets lift each other up and focus on how to do that. Its not helping when we talk down on our friends, comrades and allies when they share their dreams.

punkisundead ,

I did not find anything about that

punkisundead ,

Yes did miss that, did not connect 50 states with that

To Change Everything, an anarchist appeal (crimethinc.com)

If you could change anything, what would you change? Would you go on vacation for the rest of your life? Make fossil fuels stop causing climate change? Ask for ethical banks and politicians? Surely nothing could be more unrealistic than to keep everything the way it is and expect different results....

punkisundead Mod ,

Sounds pretty incompatible with anarchist ideas to me. Why have randomly chosen rulers when you can have none at all?

punkisundead OP Mod ,

Huh? I dont really understand what you mean and dont really see the connection with the text.

In case you want to debate anarchist ideas or have questions about anarchism, please make that more clear.

Edit: Maybe I get what you mean and I dont agree. When a popular movement manages to abolish the state / goverment, why would pro Cartel gangs be able to just take over? Its not like the popular movement that was able to defeat the state just stops existing.

"No Gods, No Masters!" on the streets, "Oh god, yes master!" in the sheets.

The Forest Occupation Movement in Germany (crimethinc.com)

Lignite mining, express highways, gravel mining, parking decks, lime pits, and candy factories all have something in common that might not be obvious at first glance. Capitalists need to cut down forests to make way for them. But all around Germany, people are mobilizing to stop them. Over the past decade, forest occupations and...

punkisundead OP ,

I would agree somewhat and it would be really helpful if you could point out what has changed so others could also learn
