Musk knows something unrelated that's gonna bring down Teslas stock and this is how he's gonna exploit it?

This is what the world is now. TL:DR, must react.

Well, that sounds like a one helluva bloatware

Yes, but the original is better for us who have just barely scatched python or bash scripting at some point.

Normally I'd say people who buy these cars are not near EV infrastructure, but I know thats not the case in the US.

Tough question is, can a tool be infringing anything?

Although I'd see a legal case if AI companies were to bill picture by picture, but now they are just billing for a tool subscription.

Still, would Microsoft be liable for my copy-pastes if they charged a penny every time I use it, or am I, if I sell a art piece that uses that infringing image?

AI could be scraping that picture from anywhere.

Can a tool create? It generated.

Anyway, in case like this, is creation even a factor in liability?

In my opinion one who gets monetary value first from the piece should be liable.

NYTimes?

How is this example relevant? You created the programming.

random_character_a ,
@random_character_a@lemmy.world avatar

I'm not non-sentient construct that creates stuff.

...and when the copyright law was written there was no non-sentient things gererating stuff.

random_character_a , (edited )
@random_character_a@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, but in your previous example you person specifically created a machine to stab a specific person.

Example would be apt, if you created a program that generates programming for industrial machines to insert things in to stuff and then you uploaded a generated program without checking the code and it stabbed some random guy.

random_character_a ,
@random_character_a@lemmy.world avatar

You almost seem like you get the problem, but then you flounder away.

Law hasn't caught up with the world with generative programs. A.I will not be considered sentient and they will have this same discussion in court.

Argee to disagree and time will tell, but you must see there are factors that haven't existed before in the history of humanity.

random_character_a ,

Lets call it assisting image creation then.

That joker could have been somebodys avatar picture with matching username.

A.I. can't understand copyright and useful A.I can't be build by protecting it from every material somebody thinks is their IP. It needs to learn to understand humans and needs human material to do so. Shitload of it. Who's up for some manual filtering?

If we go by NYTimes standards we better mothball the entire AI endeavor.

There are company lines/slogans and then there are company action.

First one comes from PR and second is dictated by cold hard cash. Guess which one bends if there is a conflict?

I think that generalization is acceptable.

Most avoid computers. My parents use'em and click everything they come across with. Decade ago I installed Linux in their shitty old computer, just so I can remove everything they can use to screw up the OS.

Everything was fine for few years till my father bought a new shitty low end computer from the black friday with all kinds of support and additional warranty BS that needed Windows with VNC that they really didn't understand.

So, the result of that study is BS. One reason is that people selling old people expensive shit they don't need is not considered a scam.

Few years ago there was a story in a local paper about building automation systems running on Commadore 64 and still doing fine. Build by some company in the 80's. They weren't online, so no security issues.

Tried to find the article online but no luck. It would have been in local language anyway.
