If you build it, they will come.

We've built a little urban utopia for our pollinator friends. The little guys just started popping up when the flowers started blooming.

randombullet ,

From my understanding, passkeys is supposed to be something you have (phone) and something you know (pin) or something you are (biometrics)

I still use hardware keys like a yubikey (something I have) and my normal password via a password manager.

randombullet ,

Gotta issue them a NIST 800-88 certificate and you're golden.

randombullet ,

Because the DoD isn't as organized as many perceive. Source: me

randombullet ,

I'm a network engineer in the DoD lol

randombullet ,

Can you briefly summarize the difference between dockge and portainer?

I use portainer for the most part and have no real complaints aside from some ambiguous error messages when containers fail to deploy.

randombullet ,

I've been trying to get a docker composed from my docker run commands, so I'm going to try it out

randombullet ,

Just use NextDNS and PiHole/AdGuardHome and redirect all port 53 requests to your local DNS instance.

DoT and DoH will mitigate some phishing risks.

Social engineering is the biggest threat, especially through vishing.

randombullet ,

You can put them in another bucket with custom rules.

randombullet ,

I pay for NextDNS. It's under new profiles on the top left.

randombullet ,

From my memory anything that can offload VLANs to hardware is preferred. Pretty much means anything with a switching chip.

I think my RB 5009 can offload VLANs but are exempt from packet inspection.

Find a trusted friend

Put a server with them

Encrypt en route and at rest.

Personal stuff on personal devices.

Company stuff on company devices.

Never mix. I don't even check my personal email on my work laptop.

If I need access to my home, it's through an external connection like LTE.

randombullet ,

I think that with 802.1X you can't do that unless you export the keys somehow.

randombullet ,

Could you have zoomed into the live view? I found that it helps a lot. But the camera would be to support it

randombullet ,

What camera do you currently shoot?

randombullet ,

You can zoom into the live view.

Set your focusing to manual focus then use the 100% button.

Could you practice before you go out? I think the bottom D pad or the FN button is the one that zooms in to 100%.

Here's my IP

Here's my device information.

Pfft if you're a pro hacker you would already know where I live and my mother's maiden name.

randombullet ,

How the fuck did you do that?

randombullet ,

It's really simple. Hardly use it for any heavy lifting.

I use Proxmox to play with VMs and Open Media Vault on top to be my NAS.

I've done RDP, but figured that it could only be done on desktop.

randombullet ,

Should I get a GPU that supports vGPUs or you mean like a GPU passthrough to the VM?

Everything is wired in my house so thankfully it's pretty fast.

randombullet ,

How can a consumer GPu be used across multiple VMs?

Sorry if it's a dumb question. I've never messed with GPUs. 90% of the things I do is headless and through CLI.

randombullet ,

This is fantastic. Thank you. I'll probably get a low powered quadro then.

Or maybe is Radeon Pro better?

randombullet ,

The latter.

I have 2 types of cables. USB 2.0 100w PD capable cables and USB 4 cables.

The USB 4 cables are too heavy to travel with so I have many more USB 2.0 PD cables.

I also have a sprinkling of USB 3.0 compliant A to C cables.

I throw away all the included USB 2.0 A to B to avoid mixups.

randombullet ,

During lunch time, I used to be able to switch to 3G and get a healthy 50mbps when it was 1mbps on 4G. This was before 5G so I think it's mostly solved now.

randombullet OP ,

I was thinking of doing that, but I don't think it would handle attachments gracefully. I also don't want to inflate it to a 100gb document with all of the attachments.

randombullet OP ,

This looks amazing. I'm going to try it out

randombullet ,

It's also Wifi AX which I've hit 600mbps with my phone.

Buttttt it's wifi AX for 5ghz only.

randombullet ,

Yeah I agree. I have a drive running Ventoy and that's about it.

Also if I'm moving a lot of data. I'll use a NVMe enclosure to speed up the transfer instead of network.

Ideas for setting up a media server compatible with xbox viewing? (kbin.social)

I have a TCL tv with (with google smart TV software) and have been ingesting TV shows, games, and movies primarily from an xbox using various paid streaming apps for like 15 years. As streaming costs go up I’ve wanted to set up a media server compatible with playing stuff from the xbox and have had some friends suggest Plex so...

randombullet ,

I would imagine poor upload speeds would really make it difficult.

Also Plex doesn't direct play outside the LAN. (I think) so encoding could also pose an issue.

randombullet ,

Proxmox, Openmediavault, Ubuntu Server. Mostly because I'm lazy and I grew up using Ubuntu.

randombullet ,

You got a friend to host with?

I have an off site backup with a friend, but I've never tried streaming from them.
