Self-hosted website for posting web novel/fiction

Hey hello, self-hosting noob here. I just want to know if anyone would know a good way to host my writing. Something akin to those webcomic sites, except for writing. Multiple stories with their own "sections" (?) and a chapter selection for each. Maybe a home page or profile page to just briefly detail myself or whatever, I...

They have their own hosting plans, but you can also self host it.

It's been a while since I setup a fresh install of Fedora, but it looks like this might've been changed in Fedora 38?

As far as I can tell, they still "promote" their own repo, but it'll come up with stuff from Flathub if it's not in Fedora's own flatpak repo.

Windows 11 Start menu ads are now rolling out to everyone (www.theverge.com)

Microsoft is starting to enable ads inside the Start menu on Windows 11 for all users. After testing these briefly with Windows Insiders earlier this month, Microsoft has started to distribute update KB5036980 to Windows 11 users this week, which includes “recommendations” for apps from the Microsoft Store in the Start menu....

If there's anything that I've learned, it's that lawsuits are more often than not, just a joke to the large companies.

Hell it's often easier for them to just classify whatever fine they get slapped on the wrist with as a business expense, than to do the right thing, it seems.

Dang, OLED TVs haven't even gotten to my price range yet! Though admittedly I could probably do a better job at looking I suppose...

Oh wow, that does sound glorious! I'm definitely looking to get an OLED TV (or at least an OLED monitor) next, I've had an OLED screen on my phone for a while now but it wasn't until I recently picked up the OLED Steam Deck that made me go "Wow this is amazing!" - now I want it everywhere haha.

SteamOS before 3.0 was based on Debian, but with 3.0 they decided to move away from Debian and now use (immutable) Arch.

I primarily use Plasma, but I have GNOME and Hyprland also installed so that I can switch between them and give 'em a try every now and then, just to get a feel for their workflows.

Thankfully Mastodon seems to be doing a good job at providing news like this for me. I first saw it the morning it happened because I had to approve the trending link that a lot of people were posting.

Diablo is indeed a single purchase game (with tons of MTX and soon to be DLC of course, but the base game is a single purchase).

Diablo (at least 3 - excluding the console versions and 4, not sure about the older ones) is an online-only game, if they're locking you out of your account, then you will not be able to authenticate to the game server and thus won't be able to play.

That is exactly what I do too and it works perfectly! This is a link to said guide.

It's effectively install distrobox, save the config, run distrobox assemble and then distrobox enter rocm and clone the Automatic1111 stable diffusion webui somewhere and run bash webui.sh to launch it.

Avast fined $16.5 million for ‘privacy’ software that actually sold users’ browsing data (www.theverge.com)

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced the fine on Thursday and said that it’s banning Avast from selling user data for advertising purposes.

I haven't looked into Proton, but BitWarden is open source both server side and client side.

Also confirming the 6700 XT is a great card, replaced my 2080 with it - its been nice not dealing with Nvidia's weird issues.

The only game that I keep Windows around for is Destiny 2... I know, but it's the game my closest friends are often playing - but I've been playing it less and less so I might actually end up removing Windows completely if the next expansion doesn't go well.

Now that I have a Steam Deck, I have zero reasons to get into Windows-only games anymore.

It has to be a link to a direct image, the image can't be on a webpage or such. Generally that ends in .png (or another photo-related extension) for convention (but not strictly required, depends on how the server is configured).

How Quora Died (slate.com)

“Why Do So Many Music Venues Use Ticketmaster?” “What’s It Like to Train to Be a Sushi Chef?” “How Do Martial Artists Break Concrete Blocks?” If you were looking for answers to such questions 10 years ago, your best resource for finding a thorough, expert-informed response likely would have been one of the most...
