Microsoft has gone too far: including a Game Pass ad in the Settings app ushers in a whole new age of ridiculous over-advertising (www.techradar.com)

Windows 11 is getting out of hand with its push for advertisments, frankly - remember the recent full-screen pop-up to persuade users to install Edge or other Microsoft services? Then another advertisment was placed in the Start menu, and now Microsoft has finally worn my temper thin - with a new Game Pass ad coming to the...

Your hardware has to have support for Linux, not the other way around.

I mean, some things are just fine when they are the cheapest?

s_s ,

Windows is not a serious OS anymore.

Musk has been using x.com since the Mac OS 8 days.

He'd easily have prior rights.

Hyperbole is a rhetorical device.

Accept its existence or die.

Windows has always been good at making the non-experienced feel comfortable and taking advantage of them.

Spent hours playing this on some demo disk.

I did this once and found a dog bench seat cover branded by Chris Kyle (the American Sniper guy).

Why do we have to do the health insurance company's job for them?

Just so tired of almost every time a doctor submits stuff to insurance, we have to be the ones to make multiple phone calls to both the doctor's office and insurance to iron everything out, figure out what the issue is (it's always a different issue), and basically be the go-between for the office and insurance. What am I...

Any hassle they can create to manufacture a reason to deny coverage.

It's not "beyond belief" it's disgustingly evil.

Does Alpine Linux count as "running"?

SystemD just isn't necessary for every Linux install.

Linux has thousands of uses that aren't "running on bare metal on my customized gaming rig at my computer desk to play steam games and pretend to look like Mr. Robot"

Everything in America except building trades has transitioned to metric already.

Even our imperial units are defined in metric.

But... PLEASE don't tell our citizens. It will all be fine as long as we don't tell them!

Barn cats are the natural domestication of cats.

You need a friend to protect your grain stores.

Early domestic dogs were probably ratters, too. The domestication process for both were probably pretty similar.

The biggest difference is that domesitc dogs were then also able to be bred into companion hunters.

And dogs geneally make wolf puppy noises.

s_s ,

Cats lack the genetic diversity and flexibility dogs have.

People in the cat fancy have tried to changes things but for the most part a cat is a cat. Probably just part of being an obligate carnivore.

Though I guess dog breeding and its disadvantages

I mean, the cuter an animal is the more humans want it. Pugs might have health issues, but selective breeding has certainly made them very popular. That is, to the animals advantage.

Macbook? Chromebook?

Honestly, anything is better than Windows. But don't switch to Linux unless you are actually interested in Linux.

Longtime Linux user, here...

Yes, but it's almost certainly a multitude less electricity than bitcoin.

You haven't lived until some needs a knife to open something on christmas and 5 of the 6 adult males in your family are just standing there holding their pockets knives for you to choose from.

I know an adult care nurse, she told me "everyone wipes their ass differently and they're all convinced their way is the only way."
