My wife's parents went crazy lead brained. They went pure antivaxxer and said if we don't want our kids to have grandparents, then get vaccinated. We lolled and said, "Bye".

It's been four years now.

SO was in decline anyway. Most answers you'll find are several years old and outdated, because some idiot thought the new ones are duplicates.

There's been a new thing (for the past two years anyways) where some power tripping user would edit the highest rated answer, causing new users to fail to get recognition.

So a new user answers a old question with the latest way to do something based on new language specs... And they'd get 1-2 votes.

Why even contribute then?

I wish there was a way to flag and hide walkthroughs like this.

Some are creative, like this one. But most are low effort "How to enjoy the game", consisting of tips like "turn on PC".

But joke walkthroughs just add noise to most people who want to solve a problem.

When I was interested in mobile development, one of the big takeaways is to gear your game towards preteens. They have the free time to play, the numbers to add player count, and the opportunity to give you money.

I heard it's why YouTubers gear their content towards that audience too, even if they aren't actively admitting to it.

Honestly I see a lot of these stats as circle jerking and just used as fodder to push a narrative.

In my tech circle, most of us own all of them. Like 10% only Linux, 10% only windows, 10% only Mac, then 70% Mac/windows/Linux. So 🤷‍♀️

I had to use a Microsoft account because I really wanted Xbox GamePass on my PC so I can play PC games. It required it on the OS level.

I wish I could say it's not that bad.
But it really sucks!

Things like having to restart, or apps/games not working because it couldn't talk to Microsoft servers.

I let my subscription lapse a year ago when I bought a Steam Deck. And honestly hoping Proton gets even more coverage.

These steps:

  1. Be taught that there's a specific way to do something because the other ways have major issues

  2. Find something that goes against that specific way and hate it

  3. After a lot of familiarity, end up understanding it

  4. Have a mix emotion of both loving it because it functions so well and hating it because it doesn't align with the rules you've set up

I dunno who has the time to do this directly on a webcomic but I do love translating things to different languages and back and forth until it's a garbled mess.

Instead, get real inside the house.

  • Be such a great Contributor to Google Maps.

  • Be a manager of a team.

  • Work on critical systems.

Then casually start breaking shit. Woops, didn't mean to add all this spam to Google maps. Didn't mean to cancel another service. Didn't mean to make search shittyer.

And if you do it correctly, you'll get paid AND nobody will be the wiser since they're already doing all those things.
