But to say privacy is a weird thing is really sad. The average person should go out of their way to be privacy-conscious. In the US, we got people getting arrested for miscarriage, people getting on lists for watching YouTube videos/, and companies now getting people's ID before they can visit a site.

In the 2010s, my neighbor asked me to fix their iPad because i was technically literate. I noticed it had a EoL date and it was fast approaching. I realized that iPads were just bigger iPhones. And Chromebooks were also getting popular.

I then realized we were all fucked.

We have all this "disposable" tech that only have a window of about 3-4 years before it breaks down. Even with open-source and boot loading, there's just so much garbage and it'll only continue to grow.

You know how when you say things like "I'll sue" to customer service, their immediate action is to stop all conversation and send it to a lawyer? You're a number in the system. Min wage customer service who would absolutely empathize with you, who will absolutely want to help, has to stop all communication. And instead, some shitstain suit who doesn't gaf about you has to go on defense to protect his 6-fig job.

I'm pro-library, and many reduced hours during the pandemic and never picked it back up. Resources are shrinking for them.

Boomers. I was blown away when I went to a city hall meeting about expanding the roads and hearing their hot takes.

After the wave of old boomers (most of the audience) complained about how dangerous the whole world has become that they can't even take their trash out on the street, they say a walkable city just opens up "more danger".

    When I was in college, food stamps helped me a lot from having to take a third job just to eat.

    When I was laid off, food stamps helped me feed my family until I can get back on my feet.

    It's a critical piece of basic living. The social stigma and all the arguments about it is stupid to me.

    I worked at tech companies that were doing obviously illegal things, who will actively deny it to anybody outside the company but then when they finally get a fine, will tell employees, "It's the cost of doing business."

    I grew up not seeing my mom or dad at 8pm. We were never hungry, but food wasnt always available and they'd open up a can of spaghetti or make soy sauce/rice and we'd share that as a family meal of 4. I was the first one to go to college, and mostly lived in the college library and slept in a closet or friend's couch. I busted my ass to become a software engineer and happy that I made it.

    But honestly, my life wasn't so bad, compared to the many other immigrants, broken homes, and other struggles people have.

    Honestly that works for human recruiters too.

    I have a very "Caucasian" name. For years, I had some serious confused faces during interviews, people who thought I was a great applicant on paper but then cut the meeting short because I suddenly "dont fit the culture".

    I now include my photo in my application. Saves me time too, because I don't want to work at a racist ass company.
