Based on how ...certain... Lemmy instances have handled themselves, the intention to deal with "Wikipedia content moderation" here is almost certainly not to make a freer version of Wikipedia, but to make heavily censored content enclaves with rhe same obvious editorial restrictions concerning certain topics you find on certain large instances.

socsa ,

I mean we have seen how the Lemmy devs approach certain topics, and it is definitely not with a preference for openness or free exchange of ideas. There are certain topics here which have a hair trigger for content removal and bans, for extremely petty and minor "transgressions," so the motivation here seems pretty transparent.

Because I don't want to spend three days to run a load of laundry.

socsa ,

Sectarian leftist nutters who seem to be extremely overconfident in their amateurish view of philosophy and politics. "The entire world and all of contemporary history is a conspiracy to discredit Lenin" is honestly a pretty shocking view of the world.

For those who can't be bothered to spend 30 seconds checking if a lemmygrad user is full of shit, this was my response to racism against Koreans (literally calling them dogs), since I know I'd be banned (again) if I was too mean and called a privileged hexbear poster racist directly.

socsa ,

You are correct, the American website Wikipedia definitely does not have an article on Haymarket

socsa ,

So you want like some mandatory Ludovico Technique for this piece of information, or what? There's literally a library of Congress article. It has been part of AP US history for as long as I can remember. I'm not even sure what point you are trying to make. That there are tons of wilfully ignorant people in the US (true)? Or that this piece of history has been censored (objectively false)?

socsa ,

This so much. Text/email/slack leaves a permanent, searchable record. Synchronous communication is complete garbage and there are very few scenarios where it should be tolerated, much less encouraged.

Honestly, I'm at the point where if someone insists on calling, I assume they are up to something and are intentionally trying to not go "on the record"
