I use it as a daily driver, but sometimes it's do slow I want to use chromium (cromite) again. I have a website open, I turn off the screen and immediately turn it back on, and the page takes several seconds to load again. And sometimes, it doesn't even load at all and it's just grey. Same thing happens when I switch to another app from Mull. It's annoying, but the extensions and privacy are still worth it.

I haven't seen the video, but I don't think most of the people who were using FF when it was popular and who switched to chrome later did it because of any of the points listed.

Great thread. I especially love how some guy aks why the thread I mentioned was a goldmine and gets immediate response with screenshot of some funny comments. I love that @good_girl who took the screenshot must have seen the rest, comments like this:

Also, most of comments in the thread are crying about how could I ever imagine tankie defending anti-LGBT move from Russia, because tankies don't actually support Russia (sure). Well, this comment proves that tankies are definitely able to do all mental gymnastics to defend moves like that:

No, it's not the morally correct position. It's your political opinion. But I was trying to make a different point, and that was how bad your "meme" is. The whole point is that people with opinion A are angry when you tell them your opposite opinion B. What I demonstrated with my parody of your meme and what you just confirmed is that the meme can work the same even if you switch A and B. It's a low effort post made in 2 minutes on a toilet and it's not funny, not even for people who agree with your political opinion. Or at least I don't think communists on lemmy are that dumb to find the "lol people who don't agree with me are angry when I tell them the thing they don't agree with 🤣😂🤣" funny. It's stupid and it would be just as stupid if I posted my version of the meme. I don't mind political memes, even if I don't agree with them, but this is not a good meme. It might be a funny shitpost, it's really similar to something like "annanas on pizza haters when you tell them annanas on pizza is tasty". People like you posting low effort shit like this and people upvoting it not because they find it funny, but because they share your political view are turning lemmy into communist circle jerk. !comics is full of hateful political cartoons that one of the mods keeps spamming there, so it already is just that. People giving lemmy a try and seeing this getting upvoted are not going to have a good first impression about lemmy. I believe you are hurting this community and whole lemmy and helping no one.

I remember this being a big problem back on reddit. Most upvoted posts in a subreddit were often posts whose authors clearly didn't understand the subreddit's point. What I want to say with this is that post getting upvotes doesn't necessarily mean they are good post for this community. Because that's the argument that immediately comes to my mind when I'm criticizing this post: it's upvoted, therefore people clearly want posts like that.

I won't respond to every one of your responses individually, because I feel like you missed what I'm trying to say. It's kinda hard for me to express my thoughts in english, so it might be my fault. I'll try again:

When I see regular memes in this community, I usually have good emotion from them. I often laugh, be it aloud or just in my head. I might send the meme to my friends. Overall, it makes my day a bit better.

When I see one of those memes like this one, saying something like "it's ok to shoot capitalists" or "both american parties are bad", I don't have any of those good feelings. Even though with the second one I more agree than disagree. These are not memes, at least not as I see it, for me they are just (often very hateful) political message written to some meme format. I'm not talking about every meme criticizing communism. I'm talking about these low effort memes that I could create tons of from literally any random meme template.

Now, the following is just my opinion:
I don't think people who agree with the political message in these memes (communists in this case) do have the good emotions that I have from regular memes. I believe that people who upvote it do it not because they laughed, but because they agree with the political message. And I don't think memes should be like that.

If I'm wrong, I'm just unable to see it with your eyes, and you really find those memes funny and entertaining, then my whole point doesn't make sense.

Thank you, I should have tried that. (I tried /feed - without the .xml). I'm also pretty sure there's some html meta tag pointing at the feed. I use Feeder on android and it can usually find the feed, even if it has some nonstandard path.

Should I learn Docker or Podman?

Hi, I've been thinking for a few days whether I should learn Docker or Podman. I know that Podman is more FOSS and I like it more in theory, but maybe it's better to start with docker, for which there is a lot more tutorials. On the other hand, maybe it's better to straight up learn podman when I don't know any of the two and...

My goal is selfhosting stuff mainly on my raspberry pi. I'm sure I'm not going to work in IT for 3 years and probably not for at least few years after that.

Given the shortage of people working on FOSS apps, I'm all in for anything that makes their lifes easier, so tgey can focus on the programming part and don't have to care about packaging. That can be solved with community packaging like AUR, but that has it's own problems.

Yes, but developers can create only flatpak, where they make sure it works and they officially support it, and then completely stop caring about other formats and community packages. Just like Bottles project does.

I'll try to reword it so it's clearer what I meant:
I think developers shouldn't have to maintain more than one package format, and I think flatpak is the best format to be the one supported by the developer officially. Many developers officially support only .deb for example.
