I've recently plugged and unplugged a lot of monitors, and the way DP keeps itself attached it with those little claws, and you have to push a button to release it. But when there's 4 monitors plugged into the same GPU, you can't access those buttons. The struggle was real.

In comparison the DVI connector just needed a screwdriver

hearing this makes me want to visit my local e-waste facility

This is a thing that annoys me and it's not just Microsoft doing this: there's never a "No" button, it's always "Not now" or "Maybe later". As if i'm going to reconsider. As if it's an honest offer worth thinking about and not a pop-up.

All of this is cuckoo. I don't know what it is about the audiophile market that makes it full of stuff like this. Them calling it "proprietary", being vage about "minerals and fluids" involved and assuring us that their techniques "took years to develop", is red flag language that i've heard over and over again.

Also this article is written like crap.

Oh my god, this is how 17yo me discovered what Steam is. I was forced to install it and i was SO mad.

Still using Steam 13 years later.

I feel like AI companies have been scraping Reddit for their datasets already since the beginning and without permission. In fact, unless there's been a regulation change that i'm not aware of, i'm not sure why they would have Reddit "sign away" the data when they can just scrape it.

Also dubious if the current form of AI has a future. They seem like they should revolutionize every sector when you look at their capacities, but in practice their applications might be more limited than we thought?

Anyway, if Reddit does go public i will be deleting my account within the hour. The only reason i haven't yet is that i've been a moderator of the same subreddit for eight years and it's the only thing that's been consistent in my life in that time, i'm kind of attached. The reason i will is i didn't sign up to create value for shareholders, i signed up to create value for a community.

Well no, because the old sub will continue to exist and will therefore always be where everyone goes until Reddit itself dies. I really doubt admins would let me delete the sub.

I would have sworn that autosave was enabled by default in absolutely every software that has anything to save since like the 2000s, you're throwing me on a loop here.

As far as text editors actually, i feel like they may be constantly saving, particularly if they're cloud-based. But i've been using LibreOffice for a while so i wouldn't know. (and yes i did have to enable autosave)

    thawed_caveman ,

Ok but what's your argument against autosave? You haven't made one?

I've lived in cities with trams for the past 10 years and i think buses are less cool but more practical. Installing the rails is expensive and disruptive, they take a lot of room on the street (with the stop included), and if a tram gets stuck the next one can't go around, it just sits there and waits.

    thawed_caveman ,

Oh, so all those times i was stuck inside a tramway were just bad dreams i had.

You're off the rails (intentional). I just said that i have personal experience with tramways as public transit, and i get responded with a dubious generality and a passive-agressive meme from fifteen years ago. And for some reason a whataboutism with subways??

    thawed_caveman ,

Some school of thought with the word "nihilism" in it

What does a single cell say when you step on its toes?

    spoiler

    Mi-toes-sis

    thawed_caveman ,

Surely "speed of sound" must be an exaggeration, i don't see the object reaching mach 1 and then stopping within such a short distance.

Plus they happened to be in a hospital, so chances of survival are maximized.

I wonder what's the fastest you could go on tracks? Apparently a record was set in 1979 (121.9 km/h, 75 mph) and never broken since as far as i can tell, or at least Guiness doesn't seem to know anything about it.

Fellas, we need a tank, a couple V8 engines, and a case of beer
