Finally, another Leaving Las Vegas person! That's an amazing movie. It inspired me to be the man I am today. (Joking aside it really is a great movie). The others you mention are also at the top of my list.
I also really enjoyed Color out of Space and Renfield. I think both were made better by the fact that he doesn't have any idea how or desire to rein himself in.
I tried to rewatch Face/Off recently and holy shit is it problematic. Just constant sexual assault and harassment. Dude tries to fuck an underage girl who the girl thinks is her father. I turned it off at that point. I get it's to make the baddie unsympathetic but that can be done without objectifying women and children sexually. It really didn't age well.

On second thought, it's interesting you consider younger people more empathetic and socially conscious. That says a lot of good things about the future.
