I have trouble with using tone in my words but not interpreting tone from others' words. Weird, isn't it?

Note that these are mathematical italics, which screenreaders obnoxiously sound them out individually, which would be the correct behavior.

There are also complexities with Mv3, which makes it so your extension can be terminated at any time AFAIK. There must be a way around this but idk.

It's actually from Korean. The Portuguese arrived at least 700 years after the attestation of Japanese "ne".

You literally just set the server to private, which is invite-only and has slightly less features. Any public/community server is in the public index.

Aatube , (edited )
@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

it redirects to a video of the infamous Jonah Jameson’s “Are you serious?” scene from Spider-Man

No, it hosts the video. DMCA!!1!!1!!!

Edit: Italicized "hosts". Wish we could use the <em> tag.

Aatube ,
@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Hmm, it seems like the option is actually the reverse: for toggling whether it's a community server. So to make it private you simply click on the button to disable community features.

You also used to be able to only disable discovery but that was bundled into community features.

Xiaomi has been partly manufacturing in India for a while now

Aatube ,
@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

How would moving manufacturing change Chinese ownership? I don't get your argument.

Aatube ,
@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Then I don't get your opening statement at all.

Also, Apple still manufactures a lot in China, which generates economy through job openings.

Aatube ,
@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

You said:

Xiaomi picking up the sales Apple lost by moving manufacturing out of China. They had to know that move would tank their Chinese user base.

They haven't abandoned China yet at all, so I initially treated that as a weird explanation for Apple's market share fall, but that doesn't follow either.

What the heck did you mean, then?

And search it up. Most production is in China, and Apple has a much larger volume, hence much more jobs.

I like the artstyle, but the Mv3 blocking API has actually been improved to the point where uBO Lite, the Mv3 version of uBlock Origin, can block YouTube ads and only fails in edge cases.

Also, Safari technically has the same extensions support as Firefox does, but developers have to pay to distribute their extensions. That doesn't stop the existence of AdGuard.

Aatube ,
@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

I agree that it is awful to remove the API for reasons you've mentioned, but my point was that it's a misconception that Mv3 broke and limped all adblocking. Currently the list is big enough that only edge case trackers aren't blocked.

time to go pedantic and use parts of the c++stdlib that weren't included in the stl!

Windows's entire selling point is backwards-compatibility, maybe except the ARM version.

Wikipedia is gauging interest for an extension that uses AI to see if any claim is cited on Wikipedia (meta.wikimedia.org)

A prototype is available, though it's Chrome-only and English-only at the moment. How this'll work is you select some text and then click on the extension, which will try to "return the relevant quote and inference for the user, along with links to article and quality signals"....

Aatube OP ,
@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

For now. Like I said, they're gauging interest in it for now, and it's currently basically a prototype. So kinda ironically, to support free knowledge, we've gotta inconvene (the proper verb is apparently "inconvenience"? sorry that's just too weird) and grovel to Google a bit. Someone can probably write a bs marketing passage about Google's auspices to supplant free knowledge through providing accessibility to a supernation of usuremongers.

Firefox conversion by-hand doesn't seem like it'll be that hard either, thanks to Manifest v3, which removed the stupid deviation from the standard of Chrome using callbacks instead of promises like everyone else does.

Aatube OP ,
@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Well, I was looking for something along the lines of "inconvene ourselves". Thanks for the insight and writeup for a random internet bookperson.

@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

There's stuff from before 1990. You can help fix it.

It could run the search in the background

Aatube OP ,
@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

I prefer a floating button next to the text than having to set my default search engine to Wikipedia or downloading an addon that only adds it to the context menu, lol. I need to complete my unholy trinity of levitating context buttons

Aatube OP ,
@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Well, the hard truth is that AI's convenient and sells

Aatube OP ,
@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

The problem arises when a site uses different wording. Wikipedia's search engine isn't that good, so that problem could make the extension fail enough times to stunt retention.

Aatube OP ,
@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Not sure where the not-working is here.

Aatube OP ,
@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Yeah, because there is no relevant Wikipedia information about what you searched for.

Aatube OP ,
@Aatube@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Due to Russell's Teapot, I cannot be thoroughly sure of that, at least in article space. However, that does not mean your claim stands, unless you find a mention.

In principle, the media has no reason to cover this, so no mention should exist.

Yeah, I know. These and trading cards. I don't think they're run on NFTs.
