Some countries have limits to nfc payments with a card. Finland has 50e but with a phone no limits (unless the bank limits).

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Thank fuck.

Though they'll make opt-out soon enough, when the backlash has dwindled down.

Is it impossible to be private online? (yewtu.be)

In sharing this video here I'm preaching to the choir, but I do think it indirectly raised a valuable point which probably doesn't get spoken about enough in privacy communities. That is, in choosing to use even a single product or service that is more privacy-respecting than the equivalent big tech alternative, you are showing...

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Quantum computers eh? Yeah that's not even remotely true. Currently they are a scientific curiosity with very very little practical use.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Lmao yeah when they realised how much money they can do it they suddenly "understand" the "risk" it "poses" if it is freely available. Uh huh. Sure bud lemme have some of what you're having. Smokes capitalism yeah that's some good shit.

Does anyone know of a FOSS Firewall for Windows

I currently use TinyWall Firewall, it works very well, it's small/portable, no complaints I even donated to the Dev but I would really prefer open source, also it needs to be user friendly like TinyWall so my non-tech family members can/will use it like they do with TinyWall.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Preferences are rarely black and white. I prefer locally grown vegetables, yet those are not the only kind of veggies I buy.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Can't say I do tbh. You make it sound like if one prefers healthy foods they can't get a craving for a burger and yet ditch the fries. To me it seems completely normal.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Tasker task that puts sound on when receiving a txt with some string of words. Should work.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Dunno, I got entirely different results. Reddit, homeairguides, forbes, a bunch of listicles like consumerreports, wired, ny times, cnet and whatnot, and other websites.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Man, I just installed debian 12 with wayland (Gnome or KDE can't remember) to play around and get instant headache from blurry fonts with my 1440p display with no scaling (Firefox and settings window are blurry af). No clue how to fix it, tried out few of the things I found online and none of them works.

Next plan is to try another distro and hope for the best.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Could be, I'll try out something else (KDE probably) next time!

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Yeah and rebooted but it didn't help. The settings window did state that some settings require reboot / relogging.

If I keep having the issue after reinstall I'll make a new thread about it and maybe get some new ideas.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Do you remember making any tweaks? I had Debian 12 with Gnome and could not figure out how to fix blurred fonts with 1440p display.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Yeah I've heard that xwayland is not great. But I did not have any factorial scaling, just normal 100%, nevertheless I did test esr and the standard one, though the standard is definitely a flatpack. Also just the text on the settings window was blurry so I don't think that was the issue.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Thanks!

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Also all the artists that made comics from posts and responded with only pictures. There were few of them and they were always amazing.

And Andromeda321 for anything space.

And poem for your sprog.

And probably many others!

Good times.

Google apologizes for ‘missing the mark’ after Gemini generated racially diverse Nazis::Google says it’s aware of historically inaccurate results for its Gemini AI image generator, following criticism that it depicted historically white groups as people of color.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Taking responsibility of how I use the tools that I use? How dare you.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Thankfully you can right click the "back" button and it'll give you a list of couple of last sites and you can just so it from there. It is still annoying though.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Man, I wish I could chromecast netflix from my phone but apparently Netflix now requires you to use their app.

I should get smarttube though.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Same here, seems like the exact same thing I've used for a few years now.

Edit. Apparently the sale just happened last December. Some discussion here: https://github.com/SimpleMobileTools/General-Discussion/issues/241

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Fossify gallery is a fork of it BTW, works and looks exactly the same. I swapped mine to it.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Company does a thing required by law.

Pikachu face.

I wonder how this would apply (or does apply) to e.g., hospitals. I agree that striking is a right, but still I have an issue with the thought of having an entire ICU just striking and stopping to provide health care to the people in it. The state, or whomever, is responsible for the ICU to remain in operation, so I suppose they would have to buy the services (rent) from a third-party who is not striking. Which makes sense, and yet, it rubs me the wrong way.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Wait, really? So you think Matrix is the ultimate form of secure and private "chat" communities? Because if it is not then it is a compromise.

This Lemmy instance for sure as hell is not the most private and secure.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Yeah same here. I like fake meat. I mean, if it tastes good and has no animal parts in it, it goes into my mouth. It's not that complicated.

AnonStoleMyPants ,

Check Neo Store. It is an alternative front end to F-droid and has been way less buggy for me. Though to be fair just yesterday it ate up 20% of my battery life due to not being able to sync a repo (I think), but that hasn't happened before.
