If I understand right that means link previews are requested every single time an user sees it? The instance should request it once a week, cache it and serve that to users

Moonrise2473 ,

Or serve a gzip bomb (is that possible?)

Moonrise2473 ,

Yes but let's remember everyone that Apple did their "best" in this. If a developer makes a browser that doesn't use WebKit, then can publish that version only in Europe. For the rest of the world it's still forced to publish the usual "Safari skin". Basically doubling the work and the monetary cost of developing a browser.

Moonrise2473 ,

The average people don't know the concept of browser. I saw people using Google search (the app) as a browser. I saw people trying to login in their webmail using Google search (the app), then in order to see what photo they wanted to upload they went back to home by closing the WebView, watching the photo, then using again the Google search app to login in their webmail. Extremely infuriating, I wanted to die.

No. First you always say "it's so easy to build a PC, you're dumb to get a console for gaming". Pay attention to always say this, even in unrelated circumstances

Then, after years of saying that "it's so easy", when your friend finally says "I finally want to build a PC, can you help me?", you drop this bomb

Resisting? It was a clear strategy: use VC money to give away something for free then charge/monetize to give back those investors all the money, with interests

There was a meme about a landlord complaining on Facebook that nobody tipped them

Moonrise2473 ,

But it also come with extra privileges like going to exclusive parties where powerful UV lights can cause eye damage

I wasted 15 minutes of my life to understand why he is staying that "blur" is crashing the price of that jpg

It looks like that there's a new nft marketplace that created some shitcoin as a reward for users. When someone trades a jpg , the platform print this worthless monopoly money and give as a reward for the user. Because there's dumb people that is buying this monopoly money thinking that surely it would be worth something, whales are exchanging those jpgs between them in order to get the free monopoly money as a gift, so they can dump them immediately and buy more jpgs to exchange.

What a waste of compute energy

During dating: "and then i spent $300k to buy this monkey jpg..."

TIL that my country has bended over the copyright trolls and blocked Archive.is, need a VPN to view...

Moonrise2473 ,

Wait, is this a tweet with a YouTube comment?

Moonrise2473 ,

Probably this might be related to why tencent removed cloud backups from WeChat. It used to be like telegram, when you login it loaded all the previous messages, now when you login using the sms confirmation code you need to ask (with a different chat app!) three friends to send you a session specific passcode and then all the previous chat history is wiped clean.

(It was a problem to login back to me as I didn't have three friends)

Why would someone pay to train a LLM on Tumblr???

At least Google paying for reddit content, would have something useful mixed with all the memes.

But Tumblr would definitely poison the results

Moonrise2473 ,

Isn't the opposite?

Saving in downloads on Android doesn't need additional storage permissions, so apps will save in the big "trash can" downloads folder

Instead, who the fuck knows where iOS saved that file, where every app is sandboxed and isolated

Moonrise2473 ,

If you refer to pizza boy, the dev told me by email that there's an option to save somewhere else (I sent an email complaining that hiding saves in /android/data/com.app.blabla is stupid (can only be accessed via USB and it gets wiped when you uninstall the app), at least use /android/media/com.app.blabla

Moonrise2473 ,

I noticed now that tether (a crypto coin that claims to be 100% backed by USD) printed 10% of what the fed printed in 2023.

And a similar amount for usdc

Surely all those freshly printed crypto coins are backed by real dollars

I fried the battery charging chip for my HTC dream when I rooted and used it as a router for the family in holiday. I felt it was hot to the touch but I thought "it's gonna be ok, surely it has temperature sensors and it will throttle". High draw for a long time when charging = the chip exploded and it wouldn't charge anymore. Luckily the battery was removable and I already got an external charger for it from dealextreme. But HTC still repaired it for free under warranty even if it was my fault and I gave to them back rooted.

Same for LG when my rooted Nexus 5X boot looped, although that was an endemic problem caused by LG shitty manufacturing (they changed the stance a few months after that, never bought LG anymore)

Samsung should repair it, I thought they were the only ones root friendly left on the market...

Moonrise2473 ,

I honestly couldn’t see how they could offer so much for free

We just saw that it wasn't profitable and the business plan was to find an exit strategy via acquisition

Moonrise2473 OP ,

Yes but the reason I purchased from play store (which has the side effect of donating an undeserved 30% to google) was that I could easily share the access with the family without too much effort, just send a link to them 😢

Moonrise2473 ,

I'm really curious about the amount of money exchanged. It must have been an enormous amount in order to do a "I'd even sell my mom for that" and don't feel dirty

Moonrise2473 ,

The problem is people got the idea that they need a 3 ton truck to do grocery shopping
