BigBenis ,

What happens when the government figures out who is in possession of the death note and arrests them/confiscates the death note? I don't know what's scarier, some rogue nobody with the death note or the United States Government.

It's kinda wild to see things moving in the right direction for once...

The problem is that this time we've likely got a few decades at the most to form a movement before a huge chunk of the world becomes uninhabitable and society crumbles under the weight of war and famine.

Looking at how things are going, I have little hope that the majority of people are willing to let go of the status quo.

I was going to suggest John and Hank Green until I realized you already included them! So how about Destin Sandlin from Smarter Every Day?

"I just want to live in a society that uses some of the value its working class generates to improve the lives of the general population in any meaningful way."

Very pro bike but only bike. Pretty much any other modality device is banned from public bike paths.

Do you realize that you're justifying genocide on the pretence that people you never knew "deserved it"?

Just when I think we've exhausted every good variation of this acorn meme, another one shows up on my feed and makes me chuckle

BigBenis ,

All that money could have gone to something useful that would have benefited everybody and instead it went into investors pockets

ginger and thyme are full of lead too rule (lemmy.blahaj.zone)

bad news bears a ton of spices are full of lead (consumer reports has some info but it’s partially paywalled) so is that 1984 Garfield mug and most fiber sources and anything brightly colored from before 1978 (4 yrs after women were allowed to get credit cards in their name) and many water bottles with a vacuum sealed interior...

BigBenis ,

That's what I thought and so last weekend I bought a bunch of grow bags because I rent and so investing in raised beds didn't make sense. Then I learned that my new grow bags are made of polypropylene and will likely be contaminating the food I grow with micro plastics.

But even if I found a good alternative (I've tried without much luck), I learned that the water, air, and soil available to me is already very likely contaminated with all sorts of pollutants considering I live near an airport.

Long story short, we're fucked.

When parts of The Last of Us Part II leaked, people mistook one of the main characters for being trans and completely lost their minds over it.

As it turns out, they weren't. >!But one of the supporting characters was.!<

    BigBenis ,

I avoid self checkouts unless the lines at the cashier checkouts are unreasonable.

Half the time I go through one of those I get hit with an error that I've then gotta wait on the attendant to fix. The other half I get bogged down by the stupid process like how you've got to put the item down on the bagging area before you can scan another one or how you can interact with the card reader to pay but the transaction will not complete until you select a payment type on the main screen. Lately, I've noticed some trying to trick me into signing up for rewards or some bullshit.

Much easier to just dump my stuff on the conveyor belt and have the cashier handle everything else.
