What am I missing about your point?

Looks like income dropped following 2020 and hasn't returned yet.. am I miss reading?

ChexMax ,

I don't think it's a problem that it's 2 bars in each package, but it should say 5 packages rather than 10 bars. The company knows what they're doing.

Can we all agree that whatever version of predictive text we have nowadays is crap, and has been for a long time?

I'm sick of random capitalisations mid sentence. I'm sick of common words being replaced by less common ones or even downright nonsense. I'm sick of it taking three attempts to successfully get the word I want. I swear it's been like this for five years or more. Can we have a better version yet, or at least the old one back?

ChexMax ,

I'm on the Google Pixel and it lets me remove words from being suggested, and only takes me a few times tapping out a word to add it to my suggestions. I use swipe and it's only gotten better and better for me.

ChexMax ,

I'm not sure I understand. If you want a word removed from being suggested / corrected to, you type the word, and then click the word, and immediately above the keyboard there are 3 suggested words. You can press and hold the word to get it removed from being suggested in the future/ defaulted to with swype

ChexMax ,

I'm guessing you've never been on TikTok. It's a pretty good news source and information disseminator. Your algorithm feeds you what you pick so if you linger on posts from physical therapists and psychologists about child development, that's what you learn about. If you linger on political posts highlighting our local and federal government's corruption, you get that.

I'm all for banning it (and all social media) for children, but if you think TikTok is all trash TV, you've been successfully propagandized.

Because only women are worried about becoming step-parents? (This prolly could've been an Ask Lemmy.) (lemmy.world)

I'm looking for some good reading on how to, eventually, best help be a step parent to my partner's children and NEARLY ALL books are geared toward the woman's perspective as though men don't want to be a strong teacher and develop these kids into healthy adults. Ugh!...

ChexMax ,

Yes! I got pregnant and the online advice for me was a million pages long of avoid this, do that, research everything, do 20 hours a day worth of stuff, but get enough sleep! Don't stress or it will hurt the baby!

The online advice for him literally introduced empathy as if it were a concept he had never heard of before. The bar is below the floor. We just had him research as if he was going to be a mom.

ChexMax ,

My relatives hated this strategy, and I wasn't the only one who suffered from it. They guilted me for it, but also guilted my parents and siblings. As if they are entitled to the details of my daughter.

People could handle (though they were vocally unhappy about it) is keeping the baby off Facebook. They could not handle me not sending pics on (Facebook) messenger, and they couldn't handle me not telling me the birth weight.

Multiple boomers got very upset that I wanted to keep that information private.

ChexMax ,

I think if we socialized men to not deny their biology and actually be around babies the numbers would be a lot closer to 60 or 70 percent of both genders love being around a little squish baby. Plenty of people don't like it in both genders, but in my experience most men like a lot of domestic stuff if they're not specifically trained not to.

ChexMax ,

My immediate family was all on board, so no big worries. It was the Grand parent level that thought I was being unreasonable with the privacy stuff. None of them ever be brought it up directly to me, just to my husband and my parents, so I could never really address it.

‘IRL Fakes:’ Where People Pay for AI-Generated Porn of Normal People (www.404media.co)

A Telegram user who advertises their services on Twitter will create an AI-generated pornographic image of anyone in the world for as little as $10 if users send them pictures of that person. Like many other Telegram communities and users producing nonconsensual AI-generated sexual images, this user creates fake nude images of...

ChexMax ,

Those are easily disproven. There's no way you think that's the same thing. If you can pull up the source photo and it's a clear match/copy for the fake it's easy to disprove. AI can alter the angle, position, and expression on your face in a believable manor making it a lot harder to link the photo to source material

ChexMax ,

Right, but hotels don't expect you to take out the trash, wash the towels/bedding, or wash the water cups/ice bucket. Even if you don't make a mess you still often have to do those things on top of the cleaning fee you're paying.

ChexMax ,

Other than tides, why do you need to know when the next full moon is? And can't you just look at the moon and see how close it is waning to the full moon?

Not saying the calendar is definitely a woman's, but wanting to know when you're going to start leaking blood onto everything near you seems like a good reason to track a period.

Not saying the calendar is definitely a woman's, but wanting to know when you're going to start leaking blood onto everything near you seems like a good reason to track a period. Plenty of women are regular like clockwork, I was at 26 days almost exactly for years.

ChexMax ,

I hear you but it's far more likely for a woman to track her own period than for a nearby man to track it. You're the reason this professor felt the need to give this example. Because men assume all progress and intellectual pursuits were obviously sought by men. You guys think it's the automatic default, and even the suggestion that a woman might have accomplished something is met with, "hey! It could have been a man!"

ChexMax ,

I'm saying you don't need to make marks on a bone to track the lunar cycle.. you just look up.

For the US at least:

"New research by Vanderbilt Professor Jessica A. Kennedy finds the gender difference in tendency to negotiate has now reversed, and the widespread narrative that women don’t ask is outdated. While other measures are necessary to completely close the gender pay gap, the study also discusses how people who believe and adhere to the notion that “women don’t ask” hinder progress. "

ChexMax ,

I mean you couldn't snack while in then - too much risk of crumbs and it'd be difficult to clean with them all around so risk of bugs. I guess you could just vacuum blindly !

ChexMax ,

You are correct that it's not close, but also you need gas in the gallons, and you need coffee in the tablespoons

ChexMax ,

He may not have been bullied, but he may have missed out on bonding and closeness that his peers enjoyed. There was a study that showed life is way better for kids if they don't have a phone, but only if their peers also don't have phones

ChexMax ,

There are free 10 finger typing classes online. Frankly it's a bit fun, similar to learning an instrument! I did one during downtime at work because I was a 6/7 finger typer, and always had to look for numbers or punctuation other than . , ! ?

ChexMax ,

Yeah, they would go down fighting, saying someone "got to" Trump and threatened him into saying it was a lie

ChexMax ,

Actually McDonald's sandwich prices are literally an economic measure. The big Mac has specifically been used by economists to measure purchase power over time
