Man carrying thing dyed blonde (not, but that was my first impression)

Dicska ,

Added the link to his YT channel. As stated in brackets: obviously it's not him, but the person's eyes are a bit like his. I guess I should have added the /s on top of that.

Dicska ,

Are you... Are you saying EVERYTHING can be hacked with one line of code?

Dicska ,

Independence day was indeed a great movie. Who would have thought they also use X86 architecture?

Netflix Windows app is set to remove its downloads feature, while introducing ads (www.techradar.com)

Netflix has managed to annoy a good number of its users with an announcement about an upcoming update to its Windows 11 (and Windows 10) app: support for adverts and live events will be added, but the ability to download content is being taken away....

Dicska ,

Back then, when I wanted to watch a film, I checked Netflix first, then amazon video. I only reached for other sources if it was unavailable at both. Now there are way too many platforms to pay for, and they are getting way too shitty to pay at all.

There was a time when I was even feeling good going "clean". Now everything is dirtier than I ever imagined.

Dicska ,

It's really competitive of them trying to knock Putin off of the top of the charts.

Dicska ,

Makes me wonder how many seconds till they realise the users won't be able to tell if the game is still loading or it's just monetised delay. Bonus points if a user finds out, lobbies to get it banned and then they just include bullshit extra processing to justify it.

The future looks so bright.

Dicska ,

You can turn off stuff that the programmers allow you to through a settings menu (that they wrote), configuration files (that they make their program to read) or fiddling 3rd party stuff that it's using (like your driver settings, external libraries, etc.).

Similarly to how GTA V's (could be GTA Online) extreme loading time was caused by a very inefficient way of loading data. Users couldn't change the algorithm themselves; they could investigate what was going on, but the developers were the only ones being able to actually change it to a recommended version.

Obviously the story is a bit different with an open source code which you can compile for yourself.

Same here but with several games that don't run on Linux. For some degree, I even understand the problem, however painful it is: ANY multilayer's anticheat is a pain in the ass if you have to develop them for two OSs at the same time. Counter Strike: Source was virtually unbannable on Linux for way too long, and I'm still not sure where CS2 is standing now (I stopped back in the CSGO times).

I really don't know how we could fix this, and no, cutting off THAT many games I like is not an option (some of them even barely have a (good) alternative - think of Rocket League).

Humans are selfish by definition (genes). It would be like rewinding a film and starting over.

The main problem lies within humans' tendency to put themselves (their family/tribe/culture/etc.) before others'. I know there are fantastic people who don't, but in the grand scheme of things, humanity will always be too selfish in general. I'd bet that will be our bane (we're kind of slowly killing ourselves with it already).

    Dicska ,

I love his excitement, positivity and passion for the subject. His content is great but I can't get myself to listen to him anymore due to his speech style. I can mostly ignore the thick accent but the ad style intonation with the constant interruptions was just too much for me to handle after a while. But again, aside from that, his content is always top notch and he's wholesome.

    Dicska ,

My guess is shears. Or scissors for reed and shit.

    Dicska ,

It's crazy how I know which comment you meant. Lemmy still feels more like living in a small village where everyone knows everyone. Or it was just pure coincidence, who knows.

    Dicska ,

Whenever I have to edit a text file when nauseous, I just vom it.

God forbid I recommended you to buy an HP ever, but it feels like they've been awful only in the ink jet section. At least my HP laser printer (283 something) doesn't require me to have a(n) HP Smart account (I don't even know how/where to set up one), I've had it for ~3-4 years now, and it's been reliable and trusty ever since. I can imagine they started pulling the same shady shit with the new laser printers, but this one seems to be working as of now. Fingers crossed.

EDIT: Still buy a Brother, I have only heard amazing things about them; just saying it's not happening everywhere - yet.

    Dicska ,

It wasn't necessarily out of laziness but it screams laziness to me. Nobody would have noticed if OP just simply corrected CNIDA and nothing else in Gimp, hey, even in MSPaint.

    Dicska ,

It's called the Tetris effect and it gave me really stupid ideas when Need For Speed: Underground came out and had this mechanic where you could fill up your boost by doing near misses with oncoming traffic. I just had my driving license not long before that.

    Dicska ,

Before I would get any itch to join the TikTok trend back when it started, I heard that the Chinese Communist Party was collecting some worrying amount of information on their user base, has been suppressing and/or blocking content that raised voice about the uyghur situation and did various nasty things. So I thought I would stay away from that until the situation improves. I have never heard a fraction of information about that happening. Did everyone just suddenly stop caring about how disgustingly TikTok treats privacy and user data (and how they suppress voices they don't like), or did I just simply miss the bit where they stopped doing all those things?

Because that's one of the many reasons I haven't touched it with a stick.

    Dicska ,

Gaming (compatibility) is the only reason I'm not on Linux. I have tried it before and if all my games were possible to play on it I wouldn't even look back.

    Dicska ,

Thanks, I'll take a look but AFAIK Valorant still doesn't work properly and smoothly on Linux.

    Dicska ,

They probably want to see at which aisle your washing machine spends the most time on its grocery trip.
