Ghoelian ,

This is already a thing, on my pixel at least. There's a "file as" input if I expand all fields of a contact.

Ghoelian ,

Ahh that does make more sense. I thought it was just showing a sort of alias besides the real name.

Ghoelian ,

The default Lemmy front-end has a communities button in the navbar at the top of the page which will take you here.

Reaper is great, but unfortunately I've never been able to get my VSTs properly working on linux, especially ones with a full GUI like a lot of drum vsts do.
It's literally the only reason I still dual-boot windows on that machine.

Ghoelian ,

Yup I'm using an MX Master 3s (and 3 before), one with the unifying and one with the bolt receiver, both worked out of the box.
At home I have an mx vertical and pro x superlight, which has its own receiver iirc, both also worked out of the box.

The only thing you have to install yourself is solaar, so you can change the built-in settings of the mouse.

Google's call-scanning AI could dial up censorship by default, privacy experts warn (techcrunch.com)

A feature Google demoed at its I/O confab yesterday, using its generative AI technology to scan voice calls in real time for conversational patterns associated with financial scams, has sent a collective shiver down the spines of privacy and security experts who are warning the feature represents the thin end of the wedge. They...

Just press volume down once and it'll stop ringing without actually hanging up. I think that works on pretty much any smartphone.

Ghoelian ,

The recording feature isn't available in a lot of countries, including mine. Even though it is legal to record calls without informing the other end here.

Musk's X Corp loses lawsuit against Israeli data-scraping company (www.reuters.com)

little off-topic but

postman hands him card reader

why does the postman have a card reader?

Ghoelian ,

I tried that website as well, ublock origin just blocked the pop-up for me. Definitely a big reject all button once it shows up though.

One of my monitors is "HDR ready", whatever that means. Sure as shit doesn't look like HDR though

Ghoelian ,

Qbittorrent has a feature to execute a command on torrent complete iirc. You might be able to write a few ffmpeg commands to verify and delete/move/whatever based on that result. Not very user-friendly though ofc and requires some bash knowledge.

Ghoelian ,

Depends on the terminal I think. Pretty sure KDE's Konsole warns you that commands may be run when pasting something with newlines, but still allows it.

Ghoelian ,

Fetching remote code isn't allowed on the play store at least, though I'm not sure how well they're enforcing that.

That's the reason termux isn't updated in the play store anymore iirc, it has its own package manager that downloads and runs code.

How to sign up services without phone number?

It was asking me Phone number in process, i tried to use multiple numbers from regular online resources ( more than 30) but nothing worked. I don't want to give my personal phone number in real life to someone's unless Its I want to....

Ghoelian ,

You could just buy a prepaid throwaway SIM. Pretty sure those are super cheap.

Ghoelian ,

Ah i had no idea, that sucks

Ghoelian ,

Only issue I have with 1Password is their Android app. It works great most of the time, except that they didn't implement the Android autofill stuff correctly.

It sees Firefox as a browser and offers autofill suggestions for the websites just fine, but apparently Fennec isn't on their allowed browser list or something. It just sees Fennec as another android app and doesn't offer logins for the website I'm on, just ones that I've linked to the Fennec app.
