I've never had internet service where my IP changes. I understand this is common in some places, but I've had a static IP assigned by ISP everywhere I've ever lived.

I'm (probably) switching to Proton Pass from Bitwarden because its easier to create email aliases (all in one instead of making an alias with SimpleLogin, then copying that to Bitwarden and making a password there) but I've heard people saying not to use Proton Pass to not "put all your eggs in one basket". Can someone explain...

Additionally, you can enable encryption with Addy.io if you're using Protonmail, which I believe resolves the issue of now trusting your information to two different sources.

Why is Matrix mentioned more often than XMPP in self hosted forums?

I'm looking into hosting one of these for the first time. From my limited research, XMPP seems to win in every way, which makes me think I must be missing something. Matrix is almost always mentioned as the de-facto standard, but I rarely saw arguments why it is better than XMPP?...

Proton has free accounts as well that work for probably 99% of people, minus the convenience of having a single account for YouTube, etc.

The message I'm taking away is that we need to ban breeders. I was already on that boat, but I don't know how that isn't your takeaway instead of arguing for people's pets to die sooner.

It's not really the main point of this thread but look up breeding racks and really think if those other breeders are any more ethical.

It's frankly bordering on racism that any amount of positive words for Chinese people or their accomplishments gets you labeled a "CCP shill". Is every Chinese friend I made in uni a shill for having nice thoughts about their previous school and hometown?

What part is the strawman? The Atlantic is an American magazine. Its an opinion piece by a guy who runs another car review and discussion website that is full of articles about non-Chinese cars. The person who posted it has posted a variety of articles about tech from all over the world, including Tesla. Where is the shill?

Are Chinese people just never allowed to speak positively about anything they do? Because that's the implication of these off-topic posts.
