Oh you must be one of those lucky ~30% of the workforce who get to work in offices and actually have negotiating power in interviews.

What's your plan for raises for grocery workers who don't get luxury of wage negotiation no matter what?

That's exactly what they did for the contract ratification and the strike vote, the only two votes they've ever communicated to us about.

They have four stores in a 120km radius across three different towns all going to one conference center, where voting is only open for a few hours during regular work times. Nobody is allowed to take time off work to go vote, not to mention that everyone is paid so poorly most don't have car and therefore no way to get there. There's a token short bus that goes between the towns, twice a day on weekdays only.

The only two votes they actually communicated about were clearly designed to reduce voter turnout.

Do they really not make any with a swivel head? That's a pretty useful feature imo, and certainly would be easy to design for on a safety razor.

If that's the sum total of your reasons for needing a more expensive, less free, less repairable phone, then I have nothing left except to laugh at you.

I used an 11 year old phone for about 6 months while I waited to get a new phone. I never had any problems with processor speeds despite having about 60% the processing power of a then-current phone.

I think people vastly overestimate the need for a bigger better processor.

Yeah but you know what, you always have a home. It is very unlikely the bank will ever foreclose on you, they rarely do that, even in 2008 almost nobody lost their homes.

But me, I lose my home on my landlords whim. At any given time I may have just 30 days to pack my life up and fuck off, and there's nothing I can do about it.

You have stable permanent shelter. Don't undervalue that just because you have to maintain it.

The creator of Pixelfed announced an upcoming encrypted messenger for the fediverse that will work across the fediverse (mastodon.social)

It will be open source, end to end encrypted using Signal’s double ratchet encryption protocol, and he plans to make it easy for fediverse platforms to integrate it. The beta will release later this month....

I honestly feel like people who say this stuff either haven't tried Linux since 2008 or went straight to Arch.

I use Manjaro as my daily driver and I never need to fix the system. It really does just work, and these a bunch of disyros out there that do.

The only thing you might find terrible is trying to run windows programs on Linux, to which I say: dual boot! Even with all the progress Proton, Lutris etc. have made, it's still way easier to just boot into windows on the occasion you want to play games or whatever.

I don't think there's any big conspiracy about YouTube titles, but let's not pretend thing like wealth inequality still exist because they're not harmful.
