Tire dust? Tires are generaly made from a kind of rubber, not plastic. A great majority of micro plastics that end up in enviroment and in your body are shed from plastic fabrics. If you're really worried about limiting plastic consumption check your clothing tags for polyester and nylon. Return to cotton, hemp, and linen.

I think vr is cool but it would definitely be a novelty thing that would be played with for a while then put away and rarely touched again.

I wonder how many occulus rifts are collecting dust right now

We as in you and me? Try our best to reduce waste, things that contribute to carbon emission, and plant some crops that put nutrients back in the soil. Donate some money to charities and institutions that further environments science research.

We as a country and international effort? Long term policy changes like carbon taxes. The 1%s and politically well connected finally being personally inconvinenced by climate change. About when the sea water rises to destroy their private villas and beach getaways is when some real progress will start to get made. 3rd world countries will hopefully transition from burning fossil fuel to cleaner energy

The bigger issue for me is every device advertised to be linux based and privacy oriented is >400$ usually around 700-800$

I understand that tech savy IT people are usually financially cushy enough that they can eat a almost thousand dollar bill on their laptop and not think twice about it but man I just can't ever see myself willing to shell out that much cash for a fancy laptop with physical kill switches or modularbility. Bring that price tag down a couple hundred dollars system 76 and Purism, then well talk. Until then the dude on ebay selling librebooted ghostpads are more likely to get my money.

Man I really want to play disco but I really don't want to pirate it either. Everyone's always saying dont pay for it so I havent but is keeping 10$ out of a publishers hands and holding off on experiencing an awesome game just to 'own the corpos' really worth it? feels dumber every year I hold off on it.

Believe it or not its the opposite for me. I help take care of my elderly parents keep them independent and they both do this. I am compelled to physically take dishes out and rearrange them to reclaim like a second loads worth of wasted space. Some days I'm also tempted to disown them!

Also good piracy requires understanding torrenting and navagating the 7 seas with a vpn. And know what a good/bad torrent looks like.

My parents LOVE to tell all their friends and family how I can magically get any tv show or movie for them through the computer 5$ a month without all that subscription crap which gets everyones hopes up and I have to gently let them down that it requires a bit more computer knowhow than a regular non-tech person ]possesses.

If you think you can properly educate people on safely torrenting be my guest but for most people who have neither the time or desire to learn computer nerd stuff instead they choose the simple and convinent option of just coughing up dollars

They probably didn't really have fun either, at that point you don't play to have fun, the fun stopped for them a long time ago. The only thing left is the hollow thrill of owning competitio to stoke your ego and not feel like a complete looser who spent thousands of dollars and countless hours you'll never get back taking a children's card game seriously. Real friends that actually care about other people know how to hold themselves back so everyone can have fun (until the shit talking starts from that one mf and you gotta take the gloves off)

Thats the thing about saying an opinion on the internet, its tied to you forever. In real life people tend to change their minds and can re-evaluate on their own shitty opinions after a few decades. Not always, but it happens. But that doesn't change the fact you said that thing that one time 20 years ago. The people who don't really care about you and just want a mental straw man to hate don't care about things like personal growth or that you have changed stance, just that you thought that bad thing at one time.

Im personally guilty of saying some real edgelord shit as a teenager on the internet. If someone somehow collected a few comments I made when I was 15 and went on a 5 paragraph essay about how terrible of a person I am now it would make me roll my eyes and tell them to get bent. Who I was as a 15 year old and my opinions then is completely independent of who I am now and my current stances. But the 5-paragrapher doesn't care about that, they got their ragebait strawman and a ride on the high horse so they are happy.

Music Piracy Is Back, Baby (gizmodo.com)

I always appreciated Dunes idea of a mentat, basically an accountant trained from birth and juiced up on brain steroids to have equal computing ability to a high level AI. Usually when I think of the way human conciousness may evolve and trancend its current capabilities my mind goes right to the psychadellic-bro conciousness expansion and non-localized astral projection stuff, its interesting to consider there are other potential paths to augmenting human conciousness and what other boundaries could be pushed.

"lol at least it will help get some losers out of the gene pool, lonely unfuckable loosers deserve what they get if they resort to a chatbot for affection lol" fucking hell what nastiness some people have in them.

Im not 100% comfortable with AI gfs and the direction society could potentially be heading. I don't like that some people have given up on human interaction and the struggle for companionship, and feel the need to resort to a poor artificial substitute for genuine connection. Its very sad.

However, I also understand what it truly means to be alone, for decades. You can point the finger and mock people for their social failings. It doesn't make them feel any less empty. Some people are genuinely so psychologically or physically damaged, their confidence so ultimately shattered, that dating or even just fucking seem like pipe dreams. A psychologically normal, average looking human being who can't stand a month or two of being single could never empathize with what that feels like.

If an AI girlfriend could help relieve that feeling for one irreparably broken human being on this planet, lessen that unbearable lonelyness even a smidge through faux interaction, then good. I'll never want one, but im happy its an option for those who really need something like it. They'll get no mockery or meanness or judgement from me.

Im really glad that I didn't play elden ring when it came out and the hype was real instead I got it at the right moment in my life and have been enjoying it over the winter like a fine wine.

A funny thing I just did was to try and get to the

    spoiler

lift of rold to burn the tree or whatever

through the sewers. Having only ever played DS1 my intuition was "Hmm this is a souls game so I bet I need to suffer through the shitty sewers to get to the next part of the game like blighttown"

Needless to say, I got all the way down to that

    spoiler

naturalborn of the void space insect thing and murked it

before I considered maybe theres another way to the lift. It had never occured to me to just follow the main road through lyndell to the big door and just open it. I felt equally stupid and kind of proud that I basically discovered like 3 new underground areas and beat that omen prick fair and square when I was probably underleveled. I don't use magic or spells or grease in souls games just good old fashon sword and shield and health potions until it dies or I die.
