Not where I live. Amazon has one competitor and thats it. There are a bunch of online stores with specialised catalogs, etc. for clothes exclusively or for makeup exclusively, but I'll still need amazon to get things homegoods or QoL items.

I think the only viable solution is to start looking around in local shops. As long as we use amazon, we won't even know if something is available locally.

The ecosystem will grow around it. You need to build it first, and then devs will build their stuff on top of the hardware you build.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE how I can open the screen on my mac and immediately continue where I left off. I love how the entire laptop is made out of metal that doesn't bend or warp and whose hinge works today just like it did half a decade ago.

I hate everything else about the mac, especially how I have to pay inflated prices for everything. I hate even more about how fucking hard it is to get into the actual nitty gritty system settings on a mac. If I could find a reasonably priced laptop with great build quality and immediate boot, I'd throw my mac in the garbage or sell it off to someone else who would appreciate it much more.

I guess I dont really need to mention I'm poor. If I wasnt Id already have got a second laptop that ran not-macOS

I think @ExLisper is saying Taylor swift is not living other women's porn nightmare - other women need to worry about career impacts and the effect on their capability to earn money and support their families, which taylor, being the industry powerhouse and billionaire she is, need not be really concerned by.

The same way every other issue affects different classes of society differently.

Yep, same here. Its almost trivial for ISPs to hand over data to the govt on any invented basis. They also do so to any business or company that asks for it, but they will charge them fees AKA selling data.

Worst part is there is no oversight, and there really is no segment of population that cares about privacy to raise this as an issue either.

    Email is like the one critical part a lot of people miss when talking about taking control of your data. Imagine how much could be gleaned out of email history? Where you go, what you do, who you talk with, what you buy, what you rent, what media you consume, everything. If you dont have a lot of friends someone with your email account could pretty much just doppelganger you and go on as if nothings happened.

    any idea what this is? Ive been seeing this a lot when I start up my laptop - sometimes it goes away automatically, sometimes it doesnt, but I have no idea what to even search for.
