You could, if America was a lot more like Europe.

Ppppffff ha haha ha ha hahaha. You should consider a career in comedy.

Half the time piped links won't work for me and the other half of the time the videos buffer incredibly slow.

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

Atomic updates!? I don't think my PC has the proper radiation shielding for atomic updates...

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

There's really no need to update every instance one pops up.

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

I mean, yeah, that's true... On the basis that it's the worst social media platform for... Anything at all.

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, but it's true for me, though.

I'm an artist. I make illustrations in 2D and model in 3D. Income from it is shit, but it's what I love doing.

However, I needed to take more hours for my day job just to afford life. Now I have less time to work my craft and everything had slowed to a crawl.

Dead monkeys and apes, yes. The bodycount in primates for the development of Neuralink isn't... Fun.

It's been nearly a year and we're still calling it "X, formerly Twitter". XD

Roku explores taking over HDMI feeds with ads (www.lowpass.cc)

Roku is exploring ways to show consumers ads on its TVs even when they are not using its streaming platform: The company has been looking into injecting ads into the video feeds of third-party devices connected to its TVs, according to a recent patent filing.  ...

We are living in a cyberpunk dystopia right now. Or the beginnings of one. We're just missing all the cool and badass stuff from the genre.

Who’s Behind All the ‘Pussy in Bio’ on X? (nymag.com)

Spam is hard. No real platform has solved it completely, and none ever will. Spammers evolve, platforms catch up, spammers evolve again, and so on until the last post is posted and the last user signs out. Individual spam tactics, however, do tend to have short lives, and while PIB won’t be with us forever, it’s notable...

Except I can look at Jobs' history and see an actual progression in technology. With Musk there is literally nothing but nonsensical hyped up promises.

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

Except he didn't.
Jobs progressed technology by essentially bullying engineers into making it a reality.
Musk didn't even put that effort in. He bought companies that were already doing these things

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

I keep reminding people that this technology was already in development, that Elon and is Neuralink isn't a unique invention...

Can't wait to start pirating cars.

Those ads in the early 2000s were prophetic. The answer is yes, by the way. Yes I would.

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

Ok, but like... You're talking about people who'd waste money on buying a "cyber" truck in the first place. At that point it's like people buying Apple products; it's less about having the best possible version of the thing and more about having something from Tesla/Musk.

Groups of multiple OS's will henceforth be called OS's's (pronounced "oh-essessess").

Tattorack ,

Yes, I agree. And it needs to be open bloody source!!

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

I don't get it. I wouldn't need to have Linux preinstalled. I could just get... Literally any laptop and then only ever boot up Windows to download my preferred distro, if I don't already have a USB ready.

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

In my experience, unless it's the professional version of windows, laptops with windows tend to be a little cheaper than blank laptops. Pretty sure Microsoft actually pays manufactures to use Windows.

All the pictures can be taken in a single afternoon. Overlaying all the pictures and then removing the appropriate parts with an erasor tool takes less than an hour. The most challenging part is the big giant one I the background, as that requires time to make a neat cut-out with a selection tool.

Overall, this would still take... Less than a day to do, if you got a decent tripod.

A lot of them have moved to Bluesky.

So... Like any social media or large message board, then?

I'm pretty sure those physical limitations are exactly what he's talking about.

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

Eeeehhhhh that depends.

I work delivering food on a bicycle. I need to be able to hear things. Would be nice if I could listing to my playlists and not drown out the car coming my way.

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

Yes hi I am real man hey do you want to go skateboards?

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

Dude, there are people with earbuds EVERYWHERE on the street. It's actually a problem on the bike lanes because the ones that are noise cancelling can't hear when someone is right behind them ringing a bike bell.

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

180 US for 10 hours of battery life and, allegedly, a full titanium body. That's honestly reasonable.

Now the real question is; do they ship to Denmark? I'll have to check that out after work.

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

Well, it turns out Telenor is selling that exact model here. Maybe check your phone provider?

Mastodon is a maze, or to put it differently, a mess. The one thing putting me off is needing to find an instance with the right collection of policies and rules, and I just can't be bothered.

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

Well, 5 years isn't too bad.

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

That's fine until making that choice feels like sifting through a massive stack of paperwork.

I can tell you straight up right now it's not just the wealthy furries that are hanging out in VRChat.

VRChat, and similar apps, is their ultimate escapism; they actually get to be and walk around as the character they want themselves to be. So most of the furries I know, some of them not even living in their own apartment, have spent time putting money aside to buy VR headsets complete with full motion setups. Those who really couldn't save up like that, and/or afford building a PC capable of handling VR, go for the cheapest option of buying a Quest.

Remember Ready Player One? Everyone is poor, living in pretty blegh conditions, yet many people have put a significant portion of their income aside to buy VR headsets? Those would be furries.

"Become a dragon" is right there, so why would anyone even choose anything else!?

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

Except plant never developed language or even neurons to process thought. You drink the "Talk to plants" potion and the world is just as silent as it was before.

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

It would also cover strength. And courage, considering you're a freaking dragon! And depending on the type of dragon, poison breath could be covered too.

Tattorack ,
@Tattorack@lemmy.world avatar

That is really old news. Whole forests do this. But that's still not talking.

I'm Dutch/Danish. Not so much a foreigner as you think. And the prices for public transport are increasing over here as well. Has to do with market inflation... Or so I've been told by my roommate who works for DSB's IT department.

The alternatives are bicycles, not cars. If people are choosing cars instead, despite living in a flat country with bike lanes everywhere, then the problem isn't the infrastructure.
