bane_killgrind ,

I have no exact knowledge about why the gabgs appeared in Sweden

Finding that out will give you solutions to your problems

bane_killgrind ,

How many terabytes is a single customer or group of customers moving that saturating their upstream would be more than a few minutes a month?

It's not really deceptive, and backup systems and other enterprise type of things can and are configured to run off peak.

bane_killgrind ,

Samus when he says that he means boring and sheltered, get out more.

bane_killgrind ,

Depends on the kind of life you want to lead I guess

bane_killgrind ,

It also exploits repetition bias, which I'm sure is 100% intentionally coached into these fucks

bane_killgrind ,

I don't want to learn new things, I'm just going to eat human, thanks

Sorry if anyone you like goes missing

bane_killgrind ,

Nah. CF initiated a contract renegotiation, and then suspended services right after being informed the customer was price leveling.

That's crappy.

They gave less than a single billing period notice for a price increase.

That's crappy.

They sent a price increase for 40x the current billings, with no corroborated cost or value.

See where I'm going here?

typical relatively inexperienced driver

Look at the rates that teenagers crash, this is an indictment.

provided you are paying attention

It was advertised as fully autonomous dude. People wouldn't have this much of a hard-on for trashing it if it wasn't so oversold.

bane_killgrind ,

They insist it came from “another unnamed actress”.

Rumor has it they've kept her in a jar since birth, her only exposure to the world being through cameras hidden around the Julliard campus.

bane_killgrind ,

Yeah that's why inviting strangers into your home unsupervised is stupid.

bane_killgrind ,

Don't forget semi feudal levels of personal luxuries.

Timeless (sh.itjust.works)

[panel 1: a large dodo approaches a clean, well dressed vagrant youth sat beside a well fashioned wood and stone building. The youth warily guards a bag holding their belongings and the stick they use to travel with it. The dodo asks “Pardon me, do you have the time?” and the youth replies “yes, it’s -“]...

Don't explain things to normies, they deserve the punishment of remaining ignorant.

Their sin of not knowing things is unforgivable, and their punishment should be infinite.

bane_killgrind ,

I was joking!!!

bane_killgrind ,

Historically the in-group for several niche topics is hostile to outsiders, and the poster was very friendly and inclusive, so the sarcasm of "no don't do that" should be a little funny.

Also, the idea of "for the crime of being X they will be sentenced to the punishment of remaining X" is also funny to me.

Optimising for the oblivious or unscrupulous, nice.

Roku explores taking over HDMI feeds with ads (www.lowpass.cc)

Roku is exploring ways to show consumers ads on its TVs even when they are not using its streaming platform: The company has been looking into injecting ads into the video feeds of third-party devices connected to its TVs, according to a recent patent filing.  ...

bane_killgrind ,

They do charge for some features.

bane_killgrind ,

Yeah apparently not enough return on that for Amazon. I'm hoping my pihole will deal with the majority of the ads. Prime video ads are served from the same domain as the main content so I can't block them with this method.

bane_killgrind ,

Just post them publicly and take away your detractors power.

bane_killgrind ,

Yeah my nudes are completely accessible to people with a fetlife account and I'm fine with that.

bane_killgrind ,

Mine are for free, but they are infrequent.

bane_killgrind ,

How dare you science in a kvetching discussion

bane_killgrind ,

At least this app won't slap me while I'm sitting on the toilet.

bane_killgrind ,

Working certain high earning jobs means that you are required to live within a certain proximity to the workplace and have a car for mobility reasons.

A 200k job could easily meen 4500 into condo mortgage monthly, plus a presentable car lease at another 1k. No time to cook would be 100$ daily for food. Incidentals, clothing, cosmetic healthcare, 10-30k yearly.

120k debt from schooling at 10%, means a payment of 12k a year pays interest, 36k a year would pay off the debt in a reasonable time frame.

bane_killgrind ,

Nah just people that understand that the insurance companies will do everything to optimise profits over everything, using any excuse they can.

Heuristics like this will squeeze pennies out of middle earners and be gentle to the more "competitive" customers, that can afford not driving or going to a competitor.

bane_killgrind ,

Yeah this is one of these perverse incentives business have.

bane_killgrind ,

Yeah you are a "flight risk" customer or you have other data points that make them think you are worth offering a lower premium.

bane_killgrind ,

No? There's a minimum base price that you would be charged.

Remember, this is a profitability equation, not a risk assessment. Wearing a Pope hat doesn't make you the Pope.

bane_killgrind ,

Is your record good? I moved years ago and my rate dropped by half.

Was my record better or something? No.

bane_killgrind ,

A private business is arbitrarily charging customers for a required service. Living in one postal code or another has no bearing on a driver's actual skill. These people are predatory, pull your head out of your ass.

bane_killgrind ,

So my premiums are higher in my 20000$ car because Lexus drivers get carjacked in my postal code.

It's not new to me. It's always been stupid and predatory.

bane_killgrind ,

The whole thing is predatory and abusive, and is enabled by regulatory capture.

bane_killgrind ,

Yeah any arbitrary thing they decide makes them more money, they will include, which is a problem.
