What? I call my computer a PC and I run Linux. My friends know I use Linux and they don't get confused when I call my device a PC. As far as I know, "PC" refers to a personal desktop computer and does not depend on the OS.

It could just be me, but when someone says "PC" I don't necessarily think of a Windows computer, I just think of a computer.

Please use it for at least one week, as it's a learning experience and not meant for everyone. It took me around a week to become familiar with Nix and Flakes, but I believe it was worth it since now I have to tweak things less often and my configuration's decently organized.

Also try out Home Manager

You could make a private repo and set up an SSH key to access it. For example, I have my dotfiles hosted on Codeberg but it's a private repo so only I have access to it (although I would not recommend putting unencrypted passwords, even in a private repository)

Although I understand if you mean not publishing to GitHub as I guess there has been some controversy and it's owned by Microsoft.

    NixOS was like this for me in the first 1 or 2 weeks, after that it's been a breeze and very easy to keep my desktop and laptop configurations synced.

    I don't know about other compositors, but on Hyprland and Sway you can configure things per device (in the config file). I'd give an example here but I'm on my phone right now.

    I have a laptop and a desktop with slightly different keyboard layouts, and both machines share the same config file.

    Not sure why you have a tool to "set the language", what would happen if you tried to use both keyboards at once?

    Huh, works flawlessly for me on NixOS. Have you made sure that you're using Pipewire and have the correct xdg-desktop-portal?
