saying they're forcing you to disable tracking protection is giving them too much credit.

they basically just botched the switchover from one domain to another and forgot about extra tracking domains etc so firefox flagged it as coming from a different domain.

tbh as a trans person, facebook groups are pretty great. i've been some awesome trans people there that i still communicate with. also there's a good book community in groups too. groups are great at isolating you from the weird conspiracy theory public content in comments.

honestly i don't think this is too big a deal - search has always been more than just results like when you could enter in an equation and get a calculator widget or currency exchange.

i do think that stagnation has hit tech companies as a whole and i think google is suffering because of it. google i/o's and android used to be so exciting now it just feels like they're going through the motions (apple suffers from this too).

bluesky has a robust moderation system which blocks transphobes, bigots, and racism which is why jack hates it.

it's meant to be twitter by ui and feel, for sure.

i'd also say it's meant to be more like twitter from a decade ago when twitter actually had a functioning moderation system and kept toxicity away. the moderation system, which is open sourced and allows anyone to add on to, is one of the best.

It's doubtful that Tiktok would even agree to sell and there is precedent in the courts that a Tiktok ban is unconstitutional considering it's already been blocked in Montana.

Then there's the entire notion over the fact that Apple is ALREADY under fire for anti-competitive practices involving the app store and remove the ability for all iDevices to access the app with no other way to access it outside of the app store will just add more fuel to that case.

microsoft has never really been anti linux though... some executives might have been but not the company as a whole.

and wsl is one of the best things they've done. windows 10+ is an even better development machine (basically what os x was in the snow leopard days)

i have it on mine and i actually use it. i don't see what's the big deal; it's tucked over in the far bottom right of the screen out of the way and it's not intrusive.
