i broke mine a few times, but i just did dumb stuff. using it normally should not break anything. if for example some update breaks something, you can roll back with timeshift and skip all the updates available. had to do that once when some mint update disabled all sound devices, was ok with the next updates. definitely set up timeshift!

in my previous job i lost the privilege to work from home because my boss told me i am "tickling my girlfriend and not working". when in reality my job was so easy i could do all of it in about 2 hours, so i left a magnet holding down space bar to keep the pc from sleeping. of course they had taken screenshots and could tell that pretty much nothing was being done for the whole day. so then i had to drive 40km every day to do the exact same thing in the office.

i tried brave recently after finding out it's open source, and that setting is off by default. ended up keeping firefox, because on android somehow the new tab page in brave is even worse than in ff. too tricky to access bookmarks.

you need to close keyboard, hit the tab icon on the address bar and select the tab. easier way is to open some recent website and either close the current one or swipe from the address bar. it's stupid.

    my school has new lenovo thinkstations in computer classes, and ofc win11 on every machine. students busy having to close teams that pops open every 23 seconds, all those cpu fans blowing at full speed, it's hard to hear the teacher at all.

    it doesn't save settings, the system is loaded from some cloud every time you log in. with default settings. also every time i have to disable mouse acceleration too, which in windows is behind annoyingly many steps.

    it won't load anything. not the front page, no search results, nothing. i recall trying like half a year ago too, and with similar results.

    when i decided to dump windows, i tried lots of distros. most would refuse to install or even boot to live, and the ones that do install successfully have issues with nvidia. like parts of the screen going unresponsive, constantly reverting to 60 hz, and just completely crashing. ubuntu does all three, fedora won't even install, arch distros can't find any of my sound devices. but mint works. no nvidia issues, no crashing, all devices work, refresh rate stays at 120. that's some damn good duct tape.

    last time i installed win10 on my desktop, the skip option definitely wasn't there, tried googling but couldn't find a solution so i had to create that damn account. next day my laptop that i need for school wouldn't let me log in anymore without an account. that day i joined team linux. btw i wonder if it would force that ms account crap if you had no internet at the moment?

    what if you just don't connect your phone to the car?

    how long has it been happening? have you installed any new sw that might be causing it? it could be some licence check for some program or even a failed windows update but just to be sure you don't have something malicious running there, i would do a reinstall just to get peace of mind. it'll probably be faster than trying to troubleshoot.

    i often play gta online with two friends who use windows. they have crashes, sounds disappearing, issues joining sessions and they keep falling through ground. on mint my only problem is no cursor in social club. my framerate is not great though, 80 - 100 vs on windows it stays above 120. except for the random massive lag spikes.

    i suggest you split your disk and try linux in the other partition way before w10 ends, because there's still a bit of a learning curve and getting used to. for me it took a few tries, a few different distros. i went back to windows for a while a couple of times when i accidentally killed my penquin. btw disable fast startup from windows power button settings if you go this route, that'll save you from a lot of head scratching. i ended up with mint because it seems to be the only distro that works perfectly with my buggy ass 3060ti.
