poplargrove ,

It would be one long post if we included weird things from all the fundamentalists. Also its called a nikab.

poplargrove ,

If posts were signed, it wont matter what instance youre posting from since your identity would be tied to your public key and not the account on a Mastodon/lemmy/etc server.

Thats more decentralized. It helps when you get banned, a server shuts down etc.

poplargrove OP ,

So I forgot I made this post. Seeing a notification with your comment was ... something.

Deepfakes are being used to personalize political messages in India, here's a fun article on it which also points out an instance all the way back from 2020: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/2/20/deepfake-democracy-behind-the-ai-trickery-shaping-indias-2024-elections

It also mentions using deepfakes to target constituencies speaking different languages, to defame opposing parties, and even creating deepfakes to cast doubt on legitimate videos:

Ahead of the state election in November, the caller requested that Jadoun alter a problematic but authentic video of their candidate – whose party he did not disclose – to make a realistic deepfake. The aim: to claim that the original was a deepfake, and the deepfake the original.

Agreed, would've still been funny placing the "I'm fucking sorry man" after the second sentence.

EDIT: Bored so I went ahead and removed that line.

poplargrove ,

I've a few times shared personal information to people I am friendly with in public chats, accidentally or while not putting much thought into it. I imagine there are others like me who wouldn't want to be doxxed.

poplargrove ,

Get to fuck

Is that actual slang or a typo somehow? Reads so wrong.

As the Internet Gets Scarier, More Parents Keep Their Kids’ Photos Offline (getpocket.com)

Here's a non-paywalled link to an article published in the Washington Post a few days ago. It's great to see this kind of thing getting some mainstream attention. Young children have not made an informed decision about whether they want their photos posted online.

X automatically changed 'Twitter' to 'X' in domain names, breaking legit URLs (mashable.com)

On Monday, it appears X attempted to encourage users to cease referring to it as Twitter and instead adopt the name X. Some users began noticing that posts viewed via X for iOS were changing any references of "Twitter.com" to "X.com" automatically....

poplargrove ,

I can't imagine how bad things must be for amateurish mistakes like that to have gotten through to the actual app.

poplargrove OP ,

Yeah, it disappointingly isnt about love for muscular hypertrophy :(

poplargrove ,

I can see this unironically being posted by some retvrn types.

poplargrove ,

I wish there was a saying about judging things by their content and not irrelevant aesthetics related to it.

Why'd they put tits on a child 🤨

    poplargrove ,

You must be reading some weird manga if its messing with your ability to judge whether that's a child.

Why not a worker's cooperative? Plusses include no executives earning insane salaries or stockholders to please.

In the case of Google, the effect on advertising bringing in "slightly less money" is an understatement :)

    poplargrove ,

You defend cookies in general. But the person youre replying to might have meant third-party cookies by "invasive cookies" ?

    poplargrove ,

Actually you can also say alhamdulillah here if you wanted to express being glad gato is to be baked ☝️🤓

    poplargrove ,

You're right, I meant to say that in this case they both make sense ☝️🤓

    poplargrove ,

Can someone explain the recent strange pickle posts

    poplargrove , (edited )

I won't say the people who took the picture (especially not Musk in the tweet) have good intentions but whatever economic system we live in, we need people to work to meet each other's needs e.g take care of older people though? Kids will be demanded by any system.

    poplargrove ,

What breed is it? No lie that's a handsome dog.

    poplargrove ,

Good thing the nipple is censored, it would have been pretty NSFW. The entire rest of the breast is cool though.

    poplargrove ,

Makes sense. (And my comment wasn't aimed at you specifically, its just something Ive seen people point out)
