You're allowed to video tape in public for profit. Do we consider paying photos online to be public?

surewhynotlem ,

It's more like it you put it on your porch and say "free take a copy".

surewhynotlem ,

Oh no, there destroying 1000! That must be a lot!

Oh wait, there's 10 million in existence.

Thanks, but I think this is a fine trade.

surewhynotlem ,

Do you think there are no reasons? Would you accept this if there were, or would you just say the reasons were bad?

surewhynotlem ,

Sure it can. Why not?

surewhynotlem ,

That doesn't mean it's not a reason. It's just a reason you don't like.

surewhynotlem ,

Because they don't use technology. Their crimes are done in person.

surewhynotlem ,

The approach is generic. The implementation is case by case. But this is exactly the problem. When the implementation is generic, like a vaccine, then you can mass produce it and the costs go down.

As far as this seems, you can't mass produce this solution. You can mass implement the approach, but that doesn't really bring the cost down.

What's the FOSS alternative to Adobe Acrobat that allows for PDF editing and signing? I hate Adobe..

surewhynotlem ,

Readable is able to read quickly and easily. That name has too much information.

surewhynotlem ,

That doesn't make it readable. That makes it efficient.

Have you ever bough an external hardrive only to take the disk out of it?

Hiya, so am looking to buy more storage and while browsing am seeing some external harddisks, such as Western Digital My Book and Seagate Expansion Desktop for cheaper than the internal harddisks themselves. Have seen this one video from KTZ Systems where he bought up multiple of these external ones just to open them up and use...

The ones that aren't forced to care by regulators. So basically anyone that isn't finance or defense.

Google Search’s “udm=14” trick lets you kill AI search for good | Ars Technica (arstechnica.com)

Tack "&udm=14" on to the end of a normal search, and you'll be booted into the clean 10 blue links interface. While Google might not let you set this as a default, if you have a way to automatically edit the Google search URL, you can create your own defaults.

surewhynotlem ,

"kill ai search for good"

Yeah, ok. It's a feature and Google will kill it eventually.

surewhynotlem ,

I tricked target into lowering prices by using this coupon they had on their website! Mwhahaha.

Google will just use this as a way to flag their tech savvy and anti-ai users. It's just another data point.

Fridges last like 30 years

To be fair, these are Samsung.

surewhynotlem ,

This was the intended joke. But when was the last time you called a person invasive? Maybe it's a dialect thing, but I've never heard that used about a person. Nosy, nagging, annoying, that's what I use.

surewhynotlem ,

Yeah, that's a thing. I've noticed people here tend to have a "I didn't like it so it's wrong" attitude, instead of a "I didn't like it so maybe it's not for me" attitude.

surewhynotlem ,

Ooh, that's an even better interpretation. I like that one

surewhynotlem ,

Would Lisa Simpson be 8 years old, or 43 because the Simpsons started in 1989?

surewhynotlem ,

That's the issue though. As far as I know it hasn't been tested in court and it's quite possible the law is useless and has no teeth.

With AI porn you can point to real victims whose unconsented pictures were used to train the models, and say that's abuse. But when it's just a drawing, who is the victim? Is it just a thought crime? Can we prosecute those?

surewhynotlem ,

If your purpose is to normalize it, and it's normal where you live, then you can stop.

surewhynotlem ,

You get what you pay for

This hasn't been true since the 70s. Back when the price of an item was dictated by things like material cost and labor.

My wife followed this influencer who was selling an $80 necklace. This influencer had sold hundreds of them. It was from her "personal" style collection. My wife was hoping to find something similar for cheaper so she reverse searched the necklace. She found the exact pendants and chain for sale for pennies. The $80 necklace cost my wife $5 to make, with shipping.

Cost is not an indicator of quality anymore. Things cost whatever the company thinks you'll pay for them, and not a penny less.

All communists are gay trans fairy men who love satan and hate guns. Didn't you get the pamphlet?

surewhynotlem ,

That exactly tracks. You can't feed answers from an AI into an AI. It gets all incesty (technical term). So they have to ban user submitted AI answers.

surewhynotlem ,

We need an impartial lawnmower. Something external to the species that comes in and cuts the biggest ones in half. And it needs to be incorruptible and powerful enough to do this.

Damn, I think I just invented god again.

"Before the end of the year, we plan to have a roadmap for what it will take to get Immich to a stable release."

That's the version I'll adopt. I haven't moved to immich because of the breaking changes.

surewhynotlem ,

I've been watching it closely. I use photo prism right now, and kinda hate it. I really want an all-in-one immich docker container that can auto update on a schedule. That would be my dream.

surewhynotlem ,

So it was an escrow account manager, and they went bankrupt. I'm surprised there isn't an easier way to do this.

surewhynotlem ,

I'm not sure how you Australians do it, but I have the weight of the world on my feet.

surewhynotlem ,

You either never used Tiktok, or you spent too much time staring at the shit videos and that ended up as your feed.

Personally, I get gardening tips, legal analysis of the trump trials, and stand up comedy. It's great.

surewhynotlem ,

I have trouble with YouTube. It never recommends good short form content. If I could crack that, I probably wouldn't Tiktok.

surewhynotlem ,

Never think more than once before commenting.

That's still too many thinks!

surewhynotlem ,

saved from exposure to the TikTok algorithm?

I don't understand. It will just be bought. It won't go anywhere.

surewhynotlem ,

Why do you think pork needs to be actual dollars?

I'll bet you that many congress folks already own stock in whatever company is most likely to pick up US Tiktok.

surewhynotlem ,

Screens are fine. Kids are fine. Parents are doing fine. This is just fear mongering nonsense.

surewhynotlem ,

Well that was the mistake. The first thing you do with SYSTEM is disable the security software.

surewhynotlem ,

Why would you not fetter the Internet access?

surewhynotlem ,

Are people with short tempers more likely to get angry at people who are bigger than them, or smaller than them? Smaller, of course.

And there you have it. That explains the entire comic. Both women and men can have short tempers, but it's way easier for a dude to scream at a woman and not end up dead. So it happens.

This is why they say that, while It's not all men, it's almost only men. Because men are bigger and it's safer for them to be angry and act immature.

So the stereotype is valid. Don't get butthurt unless you act like the guy in the comic.

surewhynotlem ,

Do many men hit on you? Are you smaller than them? If not, that could be why you don't see it happen.

Of course most men don't respond this way. But of those people who respond this way, most are men.

surewhynotlem ,

Oh man, I'm excited for you. Today is the day you learn words can have two meanings! Wait until you see what the rest of the dictionary contains. It is crazy! But not actually crazy, because dictionaries don't have brains.

surewhynotlem ,

Everyone likes stereotypes. Human beings are just pattern matching machines with legs.

surewhynotlem ,

Sure. But in short form content where it's relevant to the point? It's hard.

surewhynotlem ,

I guess it's possible they're just being lazy or tribal. But since white guys in suits are also part of that tribe, I'm not sure how that works. To me it just seems they are simply drawing a likely scenario rather than an unlikely one.

It's why Garfield is a cat and not a hyena. Because who has a hyena?
