It feels like I heard that somewhere before and looking at my profile, I did cancel Jellyfin at some point.

I supported Finamp for a while until they removed sponsoring, guess I'll do Findroid now.

mmmmmsoup , in We're good, seriously! - Jellyfin

This post might just push me to get infuse lifetime! Thanks for a great server app :)

I actually saw A Boy and His Dog, and I’d categorize it as post-apocalyptic turbo-misogyny. The ’70s are a foreign country; they do things differently there.

rwhitisissle ,

Fun fact about A Boy and His Dog: it's one of the primary influences (actually probably THE primary influence) of the Fallout games and their setting. In that sense, much of it is a criticism of Cold War American culture. All of the horrible stuff done to women in that movie is not an endorsement of it, but more of a direct criticism of the underlying misogyny in American culture. Also, it's based on a Harlan Ellison novella. Or collection of them, rather.

CubitOom OP ,

Totally, I saw the fallout show and decided to re-watch a boy and his dog.

Cool! Any plans to make an offical app for Samsung TVs? I know it might be a Samsung limitation

ebits21 ,
@ebits21@lemmy.ca avatar

It would be great. I just bought Rokus rather than deal with getting the Samsung apps loaded.

criitz ,

I would love to see this too, it would really help Jellyfin take hold in my house.

floridaman ,

Jellyfin has an official Samsung TV app! It's not available on the Samsung app gallery yet but there are developer instructions on their github

dmnknf ,

Maybe they are better off not going official in this one, I worked for a streaming company that had official apps on every major system, and the Samsung team is a pain in the ass

tun ,

I should have seen this before I bought my Samsung TV.

dmnknf ,

Man, sometimes samsung gets up to 2 months behind LG in updates. Then we update a whole lot of shit and it turns into hell to debug because so much changed at once.

federino , in Release 10.9.7 · jellyfin/jellyfin

awesome!!

barkingspiders ,

Agreed!

Catsrules , in Jellyfin 10.9 Coming Soon!

Congratulations to the Jellyfin Team!!!

Thanks for all of your hard work.

I've personally found that maintaing Jellyfin via Docker is far simpler and provides a more convenient upgrade path than a direct installation. I have a docker compose file in my home folder so when I want to upgrade it's just docker compose pull followed by docker compose up -d

Wow the spam was off the charts. Sucks to not have a "mass delete" function.

n0xew ,

Yeah this user spammed another topic in the linux community, I was surprised to see a jellyfin topic being spammed too..
That's the price of being a popular software I guess!

ReversalHatchery ,

Wow, what kind?

rezz , in Release 10.9.5 · jellyfin/jellyfin

So many updates lately.

icedterminal ,

Generally, big releases bring bugs that may not have been caught during development. And sometimes a change or fix was planned but deferred until later.

exu ,
@exu@feditown.com avatar

And they now have a working release pipeline, so releasing often is easier.

umbrella ,
@umbrella@lemmy.ml avatar

they stopped releasing them for a while but are now full steam ahead

mmmmmsoup ,

I hope we get an auto-update system soon

Atropos , in Release 10.9.2 · jellyfin/jellyfin

Great job Jellyfin team! We love you guys

kaitco , in Jellyfin Server/Web 10.9 Released

This reminds me…I probably should do a full backup of my server sometime soon.

InnerScientist ,

Surely it can wait, right? How likely could it possibly be that it breaks when you least expect it?

Untold1707 , in Testing 10.9.0

Shoot, I guess this means Intro/Outro (Media Segments) won’t be here till 10.10? 😢

Contend6248 , (edited )

Fuck me, that's the only thing i miss coming from Plex, include it, we've waited too long for it anyways, no one would mind.

That's especially discouraging for the devs putting in the work bringing hard to implement features

jlow ,
@jlow@beehaw.org avatar

I'm using the intro-skipping-plugin (has no credits-skipping, I think?) and it's working very well for me.

Contend6248 ,

Not on Android TV, i was hoping for a 1st party implementation

jlow ,
@jlow@beehaw.org avatar

Aaaaahhh, yeah, didn't think about that 😓

hperrin ,

I’d rather have it land when it has time to be thoroughly tested. That’s the way software development works best.

WhyAUsername_1 ,

If you're contributing to Jellyfin and your existing feature PRs have not yet been merged, please don't fret. 10.9.0 was an abnormally long release cycle and something we do not wish to repeat, so your changes will get in soon for 10.10.0, which we expect to happen in about 6 months at most.

So it's okay, it will not take a long time even if it didn't make it to 10.9.0.

Untold1707 ,

It’s good to know that future release cycles will be shorter, but it still feels a little bad on Media Segments because it seemed so close to being done. Oh well, I’ve been waiting years for proper intro/outro on JF, I can wait 6 more months :)

GravitySpoiled , in How do you keep track of your media?

Look into radarr and sonarr

comradegreetingcard ,
@comradegreetingcard@lemmy.ml avatar

And Bazarr for subtitles. You don't need to use the discover features, if you don't want to. Actually, Sonarr doesn't have discover.

legoraft OP ,
@legoraft@reddthat.com avatar

Oh, sounds good. I'll look into it

GravitySpoiled , in What is the easiest subtitle approach?

What's your goal?

Bazarr?

ILikeBoobies OP ,

I have the srt files already, I’m just looking for the easiest way for jellyfin to recognize them

1hitsong Mod ,
@1hitsong@lemmy.ml avatar

Name them following the filename documentation and you should be good to go

ILikeBoobies OP ,

Documentation says

Film.de.srt

Should it be filename(minus extension).de.srt?

1hitsong Mod ,
@1hitsong@lemmy.ml avatar

Yep. That should do it. Try it on one before doing them all, but that's exactly what I do and it works great.

ILikeBoobies OP ,

Thanks
