Just run Jellyfin along side Plex and see.

Catsrules ,

How does this work?

Catsrules ,

Dang that is a bunch of fixes.

My thumb got tired of scrolling lol.

Catsrules ,

So it asking your customers to do laundry and take put the garbage but that hasn't stopped them.

Catsrules ,

Sorry the bed sheets and towels that are provided.

Catsrules ,

Because Airbnb's still have their advancedes in some areas. It really just depends on what my ultimate goal is.

Catsrules ,

Not all connections are at the browser level.

Catsrules ,

This is totally an enterprise feature. I have read enough enterprise documentation to know that. For example All of the wording talking about who is going to use this is "Admins", "organizations" and "end users". That is business/enterprise 101 talk right there.

If it is even available on the home versions it is going to be off by default as it requires a good bit of setup to turn on.

If Microsoft wanted to track you via DNS they would just do the same thing that Google and Apple are doing with their phones. Have a secure DNS option that is on by default. That uses DoH amd happens to use their DNS servers.

Also Microsoft doesn't need DNS to track anyone in Windows. As they control the OS.

Have you ever watched a movie? Obviously the kidnappers have people on the police force.

Catsrules ,

I don't think you can use another number that isn't the phone number tied to your device when you use Signal mobile app.

I have two phones and Signal refused to let ne sign in on phone a using phones b's number.

Catsrules ,

You must be fun at parties.

A little dark humor is good for you.

Catsrules ,

Nothing is off limits for joking.

Catsrules ,

That can keep your address secure from third parties but you do need your ID to open up a PO box.
So it depends on what exactly your trying to keep secure.

I like how he gave a review of the jail and the food.

Also he and his son held up a gas station together so at least they had some family time together because he killed his son.

As the Internet Gets Scarier, More Parents Keep Their Kids’ Photos Offline (getpocket.com)

Here's a non-paywalled link to an article published in the Washington Post a few days ago. It's great to see this kind of thing getting some mainstream attention. Young children have not made an informed decision about whether they want their photos posted online.

Catsrules ,

I think it is just a different scary. It is less predators snatching you up in their white van and more social media is totally screwing with people's heads. It is more addictive than ever before. People are have para social relationships with online personalities.
All photos you see online have been edited and changed to make them look better. Creating huge body image issues. And that is just the stuff I can think of off the top of my head.

And the preditor in the white van hasn't actually gone away. Their have been some very questionables things over the years that have gotten some news coverage. Spiderman and Elisa shit, some very very questionable Musicly/TikTok video with kids, I have heard about some kids doing ASMR videos. Minecraft YouTubers seem to always end up grooming some kids.

Bottom line the Internet be scary. Stay safe and definitely don't let kids be unattended.

Catsrules ,

Just curious but how are Comm towers killing birds? Do they fly into them or something?

Catsrules ,

The question is are the beans in those cans normal size or are they giant sized?

Catsrules ,

I hate to tell you this but Speed came out 30 years ago. I think we are just old.

It is getting better but there are still alot of things you just can't do on Linux.

Like for my work we have alot of specialized software that is only for Windows. Sure I might be able to get it working under Linux but what do you think will happen if I need get software Support for this software? They will say i am using an unsupported OS and hang up.

And for my home, there is so many anti cheat software that refuses to work on Linux or potentially get you banned.

Linux has come a very long way in the last 5 years but there is still alot of situations the abusive relationship is your only option.

Catsrules ,

I won’t ever understand no matter how many excuses you give me. If a company doesn’t want to support my os then to fucking bad, I won’t give them my money.

Sure the is commendable but end of the day it is what is important to you. If my group of friends is playing a game and that game isn't supported on Linux. That affect me a lot more then it would affect the company.

Catsrules ,

And you will never need more than 640kb of ram. :)

Catsrules ,

My question is how did that little kid become an EMT in 7 years?

Catsrules ,

I am thinking the kid looks around 5-7 years old.

Catsrules ,

They are way better. You can print thousands of pages on a single toner cartridge and the toner basically last forever. Unlike ink printers that dry out and clog if you don't use it within a week.

How to drop files from Android to home server?

I'm looking for an easy way to upload files from my Android smartphone to my home server. is there a - ideally dockerized - solution for that? Some simple web GUI where I can click on "Upload" and the files will be saved to a certain directory on my home server?...

Catsrules ,

You can add in local directory paths or file shares within your Nextcloud home directory.

I use that to access a local SMB share externally.

Catsrules ,

Yes but it has limitations/risks that could be a deal killer depending on your use case.

When a file changes externally, Nextcloud doesn't know about the the changes until it looks at the file. It only looks when a user access that location within Nextcloud or during a automatic file scan.

The only time I have had issues with it is using a Nextcloud desktop client, as files are cached locally on the desktop and the client doesn't live query the server when you view the files locally.

Changes made externally of Nextcloud won't get updated on desktop clients until Nextcloud looks at the file an realizes a change happened.

This can be very annoying but also dangerous as you are at risk of editing an outdated file.
For example if you edit a file via SMB and then edit the same file again on a desktop clients. The desktop clients won't have the new file with the B changes. So you risk overwriteing the files with an old version.

Catsrules ,

I feel like the title is insulting the AI tools.

Catsrules ,

Congratulations to the Jellyfin Team!!!

Thanks for all of your hard work.

Catsrules ,

Yeah i am using Blue Iris paired with Amcrest, Reolink and a few random other cameras. Works really well.

Catsrules ,

With Firefox sync you only ever have to do it once.

Firefox is a super easy install for me.
Install login and all of my settings auto apply.

FYI
Few downside of an online/double conversion UPS will use extra power if that is something your trying to avoid.

Also some of them will have a 24/7 fan so there will be extra noise.

Catsrules ,

Never heard of someone using a UPS on a Fridge/Freezer.
Does it make a difference? Seems like the UPS would just died after 10-20 minutes and not really make much difference to your freezer.

Catsrules ,

I thought I read somewhere that the build in browser password saves are not very secure.

This was maybe 5 years ago so i am guessing they have improved it?

Catsrules ,

Yeah they should be using Office 365 or Google drive.

Catsrules ,

Technically Excel and 365 and Google sheets can be a password manager.

Android Microphone Snooping (lemmy.world)

So I had a verbal conversation with a coworker yesterday and now I'm getting fed very specific ads. No possible way it's accidental. I have most of the microphone access to apps limited, I have Google assistant turned off and no VPA setup in my home. I use a Oneplus 9 pro, does anyone have recommendations on how to further root...

Catsrules ,

Exactly, This is just how our brains work. It is surprisingly how much stuff we miss because it isn't relivent to our lives. It is like those videos of the man in the gorilla suit in the background. You're so focused on the subject of the video your missing a gorilla walking past in the background.

I notice this about words or phrases as well. If I pay attention to what I think is an uncommon word or phrase. Suddenly everyone I know friends, family and coworkers all "start" using that word or phrase. Now maybe they have started using it but I think it is more likely they have always been using that word/phrase but I have just not given it much thought.

Catsrules ,

You don't need it until you do. Then it is a big todo to find one.

I recommend to everyone to just spend the extra $50 and by the BW Laser brother printer instead of the crap ink jet printer. I think they are around $100-150.

It will basically last you forever on the 10 pages you print a year.

Catsrules ,

Has the game changed at all between then and now?

Just wondering if new stuff has been added that takes more resources.

Catsrules ,

The Wiki pages references this site that has some basic designs drawings

https://architizer.com/projects/from-the-knees-of-my-nose-to-the-belly-of-my-toes/

Looks like one of the Windows is a door way going to some stairs.

Catsrules ,

This was a network outage not a power outage.
