Has the game changed at all between then and now?

Just wondering if new stuff has been added that takes more resources.

Catsrules ,

The Wiki pages references this site that has some basic designs drawings

https://architizer.com/projects/from-the-knees-of-my-nose-to-the-belly-of-my-toes/

Looks like one of the Windows is a door way going to some stairs.

Catsrules ,

This was a network outage not a power outage.

Catsrules ,
spoiler

I guess you could also say The Machine. It/She kind of took on a personality.

Catsrules ,

She was also in the last few seasons of Stargate SG1.

Catsrules ,

Have you tried creating an account recently with any other providers? Almost all of them require a phone number of some kind. This creates a paper trail back to the owner.

Catsrules ,

Oh well please tell me. Have yet to find a way around creating a Gmail account without a valid phone number.

Catsrules ,

Except when it is not....

For example Boost saves photo is some photo folder somewhere.

The only way i can find anything is using a photo app and scanning my entire phone to find things.

Catsrules ,

Most likely an app updater written by someone who is too lazy to make their updater hidden.

I feel seen!!

Catsrules ,

As long as I have a good antivirus I would.

Catsrules ,

I will not hear such slander against the rotisserie chicken!

Catsrules ,

It is a review channel, that is kind of the point is to tell you about a product. Just to do it in an entertaining way.

Here is a product it is good for this and this reason, it is bad for this and this reason

Here is a comparison of the product vs alternative products.

I would buy because X reason or I wouldn't buy it for X reason...

It makes sense he wouldn't personally use or want all of the products he reviews as his needs are different then others needs. But end of the day a successful product would fill someone's needs. The idea is that someone would see and learn about it any buy it.

Catsrules , (edited )

So the real question is did he change his ways or not?

Usually if your truly feeling guilty about something you would stop doing that thing.

If this is a true oh crap I want to be a better person type situation I would argue it sounds like a reason to start watching LTT videos. As future videos would not have products he doesn't believe in. (assuming you put any value on what Linus believes in and assuming he is putting forth best effort to stop/improve.).
I assume they have enough money they can pick and choose whatever products they want to review so seem like a easy goal to achieve on paper.

From what I remember of the last few videos I have personally watch and just scrolling through their last 2-3 months worth of videos, the only things they are reviewing that I would say are "bad" products seem to be created to warn people that they are bad products or straight up scams. Like the audiophile video and wish.com videos. Both in my opinion are entertaining and informative and serve as a warning to stay away from the garbage products they are using in the videos.

Catsrules ,

That entirely depends on how Amazon's stocks prices handles him being eaten by a Whale.

Catsrules ,

The second one is to keep the cat distracted long enough that you can eat the first one.

Catsrules ,

It can melt plastic does that count?

Catsrules ,

Metal is a conductor and would get very hot in a dead short melting plastic.

Catsrules ,

I was making a joke using the metal handle and melting plastic, instead of using the plastic as the handle.

Catsrules ,

I haven't played it most just read the news about it.
But to me It maybe early access but it doesn't sound like a subpar game.

Catsrules ,

I actually think water percentage would be in the high 90s.
80% water sounds like it would be more like syrup consistency.

Cops Used DNA to Predict a Suspect’s Face—and Tried to Run Facial Recognition on It (www.wired.com)

For facial recognition experts and privacy advocates, the East Bay detective’s request, while dystopian, was also entirely predictable. It emphasizes the ways that, without oversight, law enforcement is able to mix and match technologies in unintended ways, using untested algorithms to single out suspects based on unknowable...

Catsrules ,

Didn't facial recognition get some poor guy arrested and raped in prison and he was completely innocent of everything?

Catsrules ,

But she explains why that is different in the video.

The idea is the hotspot is an entirely separate device, that just provides Internet access/VPN access. Your not logging in to your VoIP provider or your messaging applications using that hotspot. You can also purchase the device and service anonymously making it much harder to connect to your identity to the hotspot.

This separates the baseband processor from our sensitive data that is stored on our phone.
This also forces your phone to actually use the VPN. (There has been reports that Apple and Google bypass the VPN in some cases if you use a VPN on your phone.)

Catsrules ,

When she saids no sim I am thinking we can assume she also means your turning off the cellular radio. (Why would leave that one if you don't have service?) Just wasting battery and I am pretty sure you are still hanging out your location to carriers.

Catsrules ,

They really went out on that chicken butt.

Catsrules ,

Hey the little guy is still alive just ground for the foreseeable future.

Catsrules ,

So your saying we can ride the dinosaur?

Catsrules ,

But Isn't that how all business works?

Customers pay for things and that payment pays to keep the business going.

Catsrules ,

It is just a fight to the faint, so it is totally fine.

Catsrules ,

Your assuming everyone wants to own property over renting.

House and property ownership has a lot of responsibility and expenses involved.
Your water heater breaks well there is $1000+ your roof needs replacing there is 30K.
All of that goes away when you rent as it isn't your responsibility.

If you own property it can be harder and more risky to relocate. I know a few people that bought in 2007 and then were stuck as they couldn't afford to move because they were upsidedown on their house.

Not saying renting is all sunshine and roses. I personally would rather own then rent but home ownership isn't for everyone.

But I do think it is a major problem when you have a few companies buying up all property so no one else can afford it. But I don't think being a Landlord is inherently evil.

Catsrules ,

In a perfect world sure, government is fully funded and runs smoothly people care about the everyone etc.. etc..

But in reality I really would be very hesitant to want to live in that world. It is very scary to have a single organization control all your housing. At least with the way it currently is if you don't like your landlord you can go somewhere else. If the government owns everything your kind of stuck dealing with the same organization no matter where you go. Governments are not immune to corruption and can screw you over even worse in some cases then an organization.

In my opinion the best solution is many private citizens and small rental companies combined with government enforcing laws protecting both parties. However one big issues I am seeing is huge companies buy up everything in a small area and build a monopolies on rentals. That isn't good either.

Catsrules ,

No, you love the creators you watch.

And Youtube makes that possible. Show me another service that is as good as Youtube is? Unlimited uploads for everyone, extremely fast constant delivery network. Require no logins or accounts to access the site. 4K video etc.. etc.. All for the low price of free with ads, or pay for no adds.
They every are even one of the best at paying content creators. There is a reason almost every content creator ends up having some kind of account on Youtube.

Youtube, as a google company, created a businessmodel out of stealing data/private information and selling it to the highest bidder.

I don't believe Google is in the business of selling data. There business is ad delivery. They keep the data to themselves as it is their secret sauce to deliver ads.

Catsrules ,

I didn't know paying in body parts was legal.

Been self hosting for over a decade at this point. Mix of custom built servers and surplus hardware over the years.

To name a few of my daily servers.

  • home assistant
  • paperless-ng
  • jellyfin
  • nextcloud
  • blue iris
  • audiobook shelf

With docker being so easy I have kind of lost track how much stuff i am hosting. A problem i never thought i would have :)
