CaptainBasculin ,

Does this apply to developer accounts? Because if so this would be dumb as fuck.

An Important Hypothetical - What Android Apps Do You Install?? (sh.itjust.works)

You're twelve years old on Thanksgiving at six thirty in the morning. You'll be leaving for Grandma's in about a half hour, and she's lives a three hour drive away, going in one direction. You have nothing to prepare yourself on this journey, other than a tablet running Android Eleven. Beware, the speaker is broken and there is...

CaptainBasculin ,

Lithium apk and Light Novel epubs.

If I want to play games downloading Retroarch + SNES cores + a good story based game like Chrono Trigger or Earthbound could do the trick, however I like reading on a bigger screen more, and I really dislike playing a game on a big touchscreen.

Whose death isn't been memed at this point tho

Netflix Windows app is set to remove its downloads feature, while introducing ads (www.techradar.com)

Netflix has managed to annoy a good number of its users with an announcement about an upcoming update to its Windows 11 (and Windows 10) app: support for adverts and live events will be added, but the ability to download content is being taken away....

CaptainBasculin ,

How is this not considered false advertising? They literally market offline viewing as a feature

Discord users when they get a pronoun slot to fill shouldn't be suprised when it gets used by AI.

    CaptainBasculin ,

In some cases, it's easier to eat up the cost instead of dealing with one problematic order and having a potential future customer switch to a different site permanently. You can be sure that they won't ask if they said they can't charge you.

    CaptainBasculin ,

RISC-V is a set of instructions implementable to processors that do not need licensing fees and controlling restrictions imposed. Due to its reduced instruction set; it uses less power in general but is harder to write compilers that work on it.

Having it more popularised opens up the doors for more enthausists to enter developing with it.

    CaptainBasculin ,

When I saw this, I was like "why did Riley not release Delta and instead released GBA4iOS under a different name?"

Appearently because the release wasn't authorised by Riley and they haven't provided the source code per GPLv2 demands anyways; clearly against its licensing. Scummy move.

    CaptainBasculin ,

You can technically install dpkg onto arch; but it's not reccomended.

    CaptainBasculin ,

I can smell data loss issues just by reading this

    CaptainBasculin ,

Similar to how GitLab can be selfhosted; Spacebarchat could be a good alternative; but at that point why not just do forums?

    CaptainBasculin ,

App developers are responsible for the content the emulators can include (which are called mini-apps)

So let's say I am Square Enix. I own the rights to Chrono Trigger. I can release an emulator with Chrono Trigger SNES ROM and can sell it as Chrono Trigger. I cannot have said emulator allowed to run Super Mario World, as that would get my program delisted from App Store.

This is not limited to just emulators though. We can classify the games in roblox as mini apps; so let's say if Roblox doesn't remove a game that clearly infringes copyright; they too will get removed from App Store. (Which is one of the many reasons why they try to remove the games that contain these content)

Welp, if he wants to defend free speech that much; then why did he gave up when Turkish govt pressured him in middle of an election?

    fucking hypocrite

    CaptainBasculin ,

Changing that mindset is how you solve this fucking problem, by creating opinion divisions between the parties. If some cunt doesn't represent your opinions not even half the way, why the fuck would you vote for them?

    CaptainBasculin ,

This sentiment is more of "I want a 30.000$ NFT pfp even though good artists can go way cheaper for art commissions.". Equivilent of an AI generated PFPs in watches are those 10$ watches you see some street vendor is selling. They could look appealing for those without a clock and want to try one, but for someone that wants a quality watch, they lack quality.

There exists good quality watches for 100-500$ range that'll never die on you, and can last multiple next generations after you. Hell, even cheaper if you don't care that much about aesthetics. It's dumb af to drop above 4 digit numbers on a watch where you're not getting any reasonable difference from any perspective whatsoever. Similar thing goes with PFPs.

    CaptainBasculin ,

I have the game in my library but dont remember where I got it from

    CaptainBasculin ,

Isn't this what WebAuthn already does? Why introduce a new protocol when another one does the job well?

    CaptainBasculin ,

If you're developing and want a live display of your program, nothing beats a second monitor to see your progress live if you want to see the progress on your computer.

    Other cases %100 agree

    CaptainBasculin ,

Use condoms, it'll always be cheaper than an abortion.

    CaptainBasculin ,

I wonder how much could I sell my 12 yo reddit account for with 0 posts

    CaptainBasculin ,

There are tricks to launch the Android version on Linux, but Java edition is mostly better anyways

    CaptainBasculin ,

Building a translation layer for Android applications is easier on Linux since their bases are similar. (Android is an operating system based on Linux)

Apex Legends streamers surprised to find aimbot and other hacks added to their PCs in the middle of major competition via anti-cheat software (www.pcgamer.com)

Wow it finally happened. So glad I switched to steam running on linux mint last week. I refused to install helldivers because it wanted to install some no holds barred god level permissions anti-cheat software. Windows 11 was the last straw for me. Good times.....

    CaptainBasculin ,

There is an RCE exploit in EAC which has been confirmed by their twitter account; but they didn't confirm of it being exploited anywhere.

My belief is that the people responsible into it hacked these people months ago; as a few months ago the same hacker did attack ImperialHal while on stream with botted zombie accounts that follow him to kill him. On that stream's highlights all those bots were named (number)destroyer2009fan; which is the same as the person that spammed the chat at the time of the hack.

This is not an advertisement for cheats. Searching the hacker's name in cheat forums doesn't point to any specific program. I suspect that this is openly calling out Respawn to fix their anticheat, which has been a laughing stock.

    CaptainBasculin ,

The tweet says they've seen the reports of a potential RCE, if they acknowledge this that pretty much means there is something that could achieve it. (or am i reading into it incorrectly?)

But they also state that this hasn't been exploited.

    CaptainBasculin ,

Not in a million chance this goes through. Can you sue Intel/AMD for making processors that could be used to develop malware? No.

    CaptainBasculin ,

I'm more of a Mozart's Birth Place kind of guy

    CaptainBasculin ,

Wine is done on clean room reverse engineering, it doesn't use any propetriary code as reference. If they had done so, Microsoft would have grounds to sue them.

This can't enforce anything on CUDA versions below 11.6; but any functionality introduced to CUDA after 11.6 needs to be clean room reverse engineered, so this will make ZLUDA development on those versions more difficult.

    CaptainBasculin ,

Are these the people behind #1 malware site download.com? lmao should've been done ages ago

    CaptainBasculin ,

Would still watch if the soundtrack's similarly good as Legacy.

    CaptainBasculin ,

Most likely not legit; emails are a primary login field for your Google account and there's no way Google's willing to delete billions of Google accounts out of accessing them.

X, Formerly Twitter, Claims Indian Govt Issued 'Executive Orders' To Act On Some Posts (www.outlookindia.com)

From what I've observed, many accounts which were critiqued to the current Modi govt have been withheld in the country. Accounts of farmer leaders were also suspended amid the ongoing farmers protest in the country. It's worth noting that India will see the general elections this year around May.

    CaptainBasculin ,

That fork is sneedacity, which is very dead.

    CaptainBasculin ,

Super TLDR: iTunes is splitting into three apps on Windows: Devices, TV and Music

    CaptainBasculin ,

I kinda wanted an ironic linux bashing community similar to banvideogames. Could be really fun.

    Sega AI Computer (セガAIコンピューター) (www.smspower.org)

Around late 1986, Sega released the “Sega AI Computer”. This is one of Sega’s least well known and rarest systems. Not much is known about this system apart from a small amount of information in Japanese and American flyers and press articles. The information we have is still piecemeal and may be partly inaccurate....

    CaptainBasculin ,

This is quite an interesting work on really obscure hardware.

    CaptainBasculin ,

    install sway too

    CaptainBasculin ,

I was using i3wm and have migrated pretty recently. Rewriting the config was much less scarier than I initially hoped.

    CaptainBasculin ,

I agree. Reminds me of the days I moderated a discord server, where I coded a bot to end the spam waves. Lemmy API has the endpoints for moderation too, so maybe a similar approach could be used here?

    CaptainBasculin ,

I've seen the sole examples of the sim swap attack happening in US. Has it ever happened in other countries?

What's a good piece of hardware to run a jellyfin server?

I'm wanting to set up my external Seagate drive with all my media on it to run a jellyfin server but I'm not sure which device to use. I'm thinking a raspberry pi but I'm not sure which one. From what I can tell from running the server on my laptop it is fairly CPU intensive for lower end systems...

    CaptainBasculin ,

Consider how many devices will use it at the same time.

Only you? A pi is fine.

A few friends too? An old computer with a rough equivilent of i5-2300 with integrated graphics should do the trick. 4GB Ram will do fine.

A small group that'll use it constantly? Plug in a GPU that supports hardware encoding, (Some low-end cards like GT 1030 doesnt support this feature, check this properly.) , upgrade RAM a notch more, like 8GB.

You can scale it higher for more people via logic; you'll also know how much storage you'll need; but it'll be a lot if you want to satisfy a huge group of people.

    CaptainBasculin ,

If you dislike it that much, just create your own instance. No one's stopping you there.

    CaptainBasculin ,

Mozilla has bad resource management, that's a fact.

However turning into a loan shark app business? I really don't think so. Unless another browser enters the market and takes off (which is extremely difficult given the tons of features browsers are built to support for all sorts of websites) Mozilla never has to worry that much about money since Google is their top funder; and Google's main reason to fund them is to not deal with all sorts of legal issues and fines they'll recieve for creating a monopoly.

    CaptainBasculin ,

This was how it worked for years for developers. First step of testing your app on an iOS device you have is to pay Apple a developer fee. This has been a thing even back in iOS 3 times.

    CaptainBasculin ,

What should a printer do: take ink from some means -> print

What shouldnt a printer do: Take ink from cartridge -> read its chip to ensure authenticity -> count cycles of usage to not allow further than the chip allows -> somehow have a buffer overflow due to this implementation
