Jax ,

Am I the only one that would probably be gaslit into believing it and be really really pissed off when I learned the truth?

Jax ,

Yeah but I'm dumb

Jax ,

We can't all be perfect like you

Jax ,

I'm sure someone finds this relatable

Jax ,

corralling student attention in the hands of the parents

What does this mean?

Also, I don't necessarily disagree with what you're saying ; the people in control of schools across the U.S. should be ashamed of themselves. However it is the responsibility of the parents to not just shove their kids in front of a screen because they're too busy for them.

Teachers have it hard enough as it is, I have nothing to say on that front. I would never have the patience to go through what teachers go through, period.

Jax ,

They said Physiological not Psychological. There's a considerable difference between those two words.

Jax ,

I meant their meanings, rather than their spellings lol.

Is it impossible to be private online? (yewtu.be)

In sharing this video here I'm preaching to the choir, but I do think it indirectly raised a valuable point which probably doesn't get spoken about enough in privacy communities. That is, in choosing to use even a single product or service that is more privacy-respecting than the equivalent big tech alternative, you are showing...

Jax ,

Not sure what you mean, this is an Aldous Huxley quote

Jax ,

You're right, downvoted myself.

Jax ,

It only seems sad without comprehension, reading - specifically.

Jax ,

I can't understand how non-Americans have gone their entire lives without witnessing macaroni and cheese that exists outside of Kraft.

Jax ,

So do many Americans, and yet I didn't invoke their name first.

Jax ,

It's cheap.

Jax ,

What's your point?

Jax ,

The most popular boxed mac n cheese, again boxed mac n cheese is not the only kind to exist.

That would be like associating all Ramen with 'Top Ramen'. Does that put in perspective how wrong* what you're suggesting is?

*Edit: I'm trying to be nicer.

Jax ,

I highly doubt that someone disabled enough to need implants like this is capable of doing damage to anyone but themselves. Like if you're interested in protecting them, sure I'll accept that. But the idea that society needs to protect itself from this is silly.

Jax ,

Did you? Because you haven't named them.

Jax ,

It's refreshing to see 4 separate individuals shut stuff like this down. Idk what OC was going for, whether it's rage baiting or virtue signaling - but seeing 4 people calmly say 'no you're wrong' is nice.

Jax ,

Unless you forget to put them in car wash mode, or it happens to combust while you're driving

After announcing increased prices, Spotify to Pay Songwriters About $150 Million Less Next Year (www.billboard.com)

When Bloomberg reported that Spotify would be upping the cost of its premium subscription from $9.99 to $10.99, and including 15 hours of audiobooks per month in the U.S., the change sounded like a win for songwriters and publishers. Higher subscription prices typically equate to a bump in U.S. mechanical royalties — but not...

Jax ,

Most people do not understand that there are many ways to burn a book.

Jax ,

Meanwhile we've reached past global resource tipping points, yet there are still people who believe we can manage a post scarcity society.

Idealism will be the death of us all.

Jax ,

I will never understand this take.

Logically speaking this is simply incorrect.

Jax ,

That is the way dating apps work.

Jax ,

Shortsightedness driven by greed does not, in any way, negate money equaling power.

Jax ,

Within that isolated society? Sure.

If your goal was to argue semantics then I don't know why I'm entertaining this. Yes, in an imaginary society that is 1) somehow not influenced by modern society and 2) somehow also avoids currency - power dynamics will obviously take different shapes.

Do you realize how meaningless that example is?

Jax ,

I don't think people who struggle to read as much as you have any business talking about internet hygiene.

Jax ,

Have you heard of any companies in the past few years who are trying to mimic human speech? They need lots of example data to do that.

You fixated on one point while there are worse problems than just being ashamed of what you've said.

Stop.

Jax ,

Huh, I knew that Nintendo had braindead fanboys but I'm genuinely surprised anyone thinks that corporations teaming up to kill emulation is a good thing.

Jax ,

Am I crazy? Their line of reasoning is odd no?

Fairbuds are Fairphone’s proof that we really could make better tiny gadgets (arstechnica.com)

But of course we all know that the big manufacturers don't do this not because they can't but because they don't want to. Planned obsolescence is still very much the name of the game, despite all the bullshit they spout about sustainability.

Jax ,

Biggest complaints I've seen aren't with sound quality, it's with the noise cancelling being bad and the shape of the ear cups (the latter could have just been the shape of that user's ears were the problem).

Mind you, these were reviews from Fairbud XLs released about a year ago. Things could have improved or gotten worse in that time, in any way. I can't tell you for sure.

That said, I don't think it makes sense to correlate focusing on repairability and quality of the product going down. I actually went out and found the reviews I'm referencing simply because the concept is absurd and I needed to know for sure.

Always keep in mind what you say online, Poe's law is forever in effect.

Jax ,

Are you trying to suggest that the literal image of the man who created the meme has nothing to do with the man himself?

Yes I understand the question "who is that?" may not occur to you. It does to others, and results in this pile of dirt getting free traffic.

Jax ,

His change my mind videos quite literally spawned the meme. His platform became more popular because of the meme.

Do you even know anything about crowder or are you just talking out of your ass?

Jax ,

You can pretty quickly determine when you've been blocked, that's how most people ghost.

Jax ,

Taylor Swift's father comes from 3 generations of bank Presidents...

I'm not sure what you think, but Swift didn't exactly start small.

Jax ,

there's only seven stories in the world

This, to me, sounds like the opinion of someone who doesn't read for entertainment. No, manga does not count.

If your only exposure to stories are TV shows and movies... yeah it's gonna seem like there aren't very many types of stories.

Jax ,

It is baffling that you would step forward and suggest that manga is somehow better than Japanese literature. Even further baffling are the people upvoting this.

As I said, the opinions of people who have never read for entertainment.

Edit: This is coming from someone who follows JJK leaks.

Jax ,

A story is not measured in quality by the amount of words it has, which it seems is all light novel readers ever seem to be able to talk about.

Jax ,

Asking the right questions, listening to the wrong people.

Sure, if you completely disassociate them from the answers that they act on (5G towers, lizard people, Jews, gay frogs) then yeah they're just hunting for the answers.

Jax ,

My cousin told one of his employees that she shouldn't talk or make friends with men other than her SO, and that she should have known what was going to happen. This was immediately following said employee being kissed and groped by a man that she had only ever been nice to.

My cousin is a man who believes that immigrants and women are at fault for the decline of western society. I'm sure he feels that way about LGBTQ+ folks too. Of course they adhere to the mindless horny ape narrative. These people look for any excuse to exercise and hone their bigotry.

Jax ,

Idk, he's got a thin blue line sticker on his too-large-to-be-anything-but-compensating-for-something truck if that helps narrow it down?

Jax ,

No, it absolutely isn't.

Almost half of the United States either hates LGTBQ+ people or has no problem supporting politicians who will promote anti-LGBTQ+ policies. I am genuinely boggled as to how you've come to the conclusion that you've won any kind of culture war, considering its absolutely still going on.

Corporations use rainbow paint to cover their hideous and ghoulish faces while they siphon every last cent out of the people who aren't shareholders. They are not your friends.

Jax , (edited )

Yeah that was always one of the weirder sides of the Patriarchy, establishing naming conventions like the suffix -ess being female but still giving the title High Priestess of Athena Polias to a man.

Jax ,

Whoa whoa whoa whoa, let's not get fucking crazy there.

Jax ,

Totally agree.

Tangent, I don't think anyone considers that abrubtly inserting yourself into someone elses bubble is actually the most honest thing someone can do if they want to meet you. It's similar to someone who curses a lot being more honest.

Manipulating a scenario so that you come off as less creepy is actually an indication of fixation, you have to think more about that action than just walking up and saying "Hi pretty lady or man". Not to mention there's the inherent subversive aspect, i.e. your relationship technically starting on a lie (that lie being the interaction was organic and spontaneous, as opposed to the truth of it being planned). Just like someone who curses has to think about not cursing (as opposed to someone who just speaks their mind).

🤷‍♂️ I could be stupid and just wrong about what I'm saying, but it adds up to me.

Jax ,

Considering less than 10% of American households earn above 250k I'd say not many (if any) for that range, but 100k a year? That is definitely not enough to live in some big cities in California. SF, LA, SD to name a few. I know New York is also very expensive at 100k.

Again, can't speak for 250k, 250k is still a lot of money in a year. It might not go as far as it used to, but it's still good money.
